Nerdsteve01, that turbine would be viewed as a solid object by birds. My guess on the number of birds you scrape off your roof would be "A few less than you pick up below your picture window on any given month."
My question for Windtronics (Reg are you reading this?) is "how many watts are generated at what wind speed?" It can't be much at 2 MPH, so lets just say, 10 MPH = how many watts?
Appreciate ur math romur1, but u say ur wind is mph? Implies 1 mph. Unfortunately, wind turbines require.....wind! Just cuz u live in an area w/no wind doesn't mean this product is bs. It's a small step toward better things for, even if it doesn't cure ur financial woes
The average wind speed where I live is MPH. My electric rate is $0.08/kWh, multiple that by 2000 kWh/year and my saving is $160/year. Divide that into the $4500 cost and it will take 28 years to pay back the cost of the unit. A lot more than the 4-5 years stated on the earthtronics site.
It's BS like this that turns people off to alt-energy.
Weird, at the trade shows they told everybody it would do 25% of home energy, where here it says %15!
