This has to be the best ad for same-sex marriages that I have ever seen. I can still remember being younger and not understanding why they're the same as heterosexual couples. It really puts things into perspective.
I love this video. Beautifully made. What if we took the right of heteros to marry? Dont give me that bullshit that people arent born gay. I am living proof that some people are simply born gay. I realized I was gay at age 7. No one chooses what gender they are attracted to. You bigoted homophobes need to accept and get beyond this simple fact of life.
LGBT for ever! Gays and lesbians such as myself may be homosexual but we're still humans and should have the same rights as anyone else. Like this comment if you agree.
People overreacte about this. I beleive gay people should have the right to marry. What if you couldnt marry the person to love. And so what if children know about gay and lesbians. It's not like they are gangs killing people or murdering them. It's just based on who they like, No harm there.
for all of you who think this goes against God, because he didnt create man to be with another man or a woman to be with another women, what about all those who are born with disorders or mental retardation (i am not saying being gay is anything like those) but do you think God intended for those individuals to be born that way no? things happen, Gays are born that way, they cant help it.
and I dont think God would want to punish someone for being born a certain way, that they cant help. just like God isnt going to punish retarded people for not turning out "normal"
oh yea and prop 8 is completely illegal in california it goes against the civil code section 51 "All persons within the jurisdiction of this state are free and
equal, and no matter what their sex, race, color, religion,
ancestry, national origin, disability, medical condition, marital
status, or sexual orientation are entitled to the full and equal
accommodations, advantages, facilities, privileges, or services in
all business establishments of every kind whatsoever" look it up
ok. i wouldn't tell them they couldn't have there own choice. but thats also their choice to disobey god. who made men for women and women for men. u can tell that since a women can't get pregnant with a women and a man cant get pregnant. that should say somthing....shouldn't it?
okay..."God" does not fucking exist. get it straight. there's no God, no heaven, no hell, nothing. gays and lesbians should not be judged in such a way. so shut the fuck up with all of this religion bullshit. you have obviously been mislead. i feel sorry for you. it's a shame you have to believe in something greater than yourself to cope with life. you worthless piece of fucking shit.
aw. its a shame that you actually don't have the intelligence to make a fair thought out response, and instead you have to go on the offensive.
Religion aside, it is entirely against the course of nature. if the entire species were to go homosexual we would cease to exist, survival of the fittest, it applies to man as well, we just seek to circumvent it with science and medicine.
If we didn't have our advances in medical science, odds are being homosexual would be entirely illegal.
A very small % of the worlds population is gay, I dont think humans need to worry about the supposive threat this poses to the human race becoming extinct! - humans fail to feed all the people on at planet at the moment. The genitic makeup of the human race allows for diversity - that is no mistake by god, that is how humans survive as a species. If humans were all the same we would easily be wiped out by disease etc. Diversity in humans means that some are short, white, black, gay or straight.
The cultural "rules" of a given society like ours do not govern what is right and what is wrong. It is not for anyone other than the two people involved to decide what they hold to be true. Live and let live, do not negatively impact the lives of others aka the pursuit of happiness.
It IS normal for gay people to get married. I would think you wouldn't want to raise your children to believe it's ok to hate. You can believe what you want but it should not infringe on my rights.
wow, your kids are going to be exposed to That in the nearby future,
so it really doesn't matter what you want for them or not cause in the end it's up to them to decide what they feel is normal or right to our society.
you couldn't even define the word "normal" if you wanted to.
You know what? I really don't care. Why? Its not me, I am not in the situation so I am not in a position to tell other people who they are is wrong. If you are gay and want to get married, go right ahead and be happy. Life can suck enough without someone to share it with. I believe that the whole taboo thing is based on our own point of view. The whole "its not the norm so I will reject it and stamp it as wrong" Be happy and let others be too. That commercial was horribly sad.
wow, all of you people are crazy. i don't necessarily agree with being gay, but it's not MY choice to make for other people. if you or i want to be straight or christian or gay or atheist, it's our own choice. you can't legislate stuff like that and make those decisions for other people. that's just bigotry and crazy narcissism.

there will be no ban on interracial relationships!! thats just stupid, i support gays an lesbians but racial marriage is a whole nother story. remember, being gay is an abomination, being interracialy involved is not
Learn some history. There WAS a ban on interracial marriage. And the holier-than-thou types used the EXACT SAME arguments against interracial marriage that they use against marriage towards loving committed couples of the same sex.

It is the hope of this culture that the social order established by the One, True, Living, G-d will be honored. Reinforcement of heterosexual marriage is an affirmation of values. These values are as old and mankind himself. These values will never go away.
So sad that Prop 8 was passed. Marriage isn't necessarily about religion, many marriages are performed in civil ceremonies. So why on earth have they brought religion into it with regards to same sex marriages. People should have the right to commit themselves and their lives to the one they love, whatever the gender.
I can't wait for the ban on inter-racial marriage (as seen here) comes up. I can't WAIT for Black Californians who vote 70-30 against gay marriage to ask for the help of gay californians to defeat THAT marriage ban. lolz.
Does anyone agree that they should have aired this ALOT more these past couple of weeks... it has such an impact! and way better than using little kids as a platform they way the Yes on 8 has done.
There were gay people hundreds of years ago and there's going to be gay people in the future, so let them marry because this is never going to go away.
omg i tear up EVERY time i see this ad! i love how it makes ppl with an ounce of humanity see how much gays need to be able to get married. no no no no no on 8 ...
The best part of the video that seems to be lost on posters here?
It's an interracial couple. Fifty years ago, people of color could not marry whites. How absurd we now realize that to be. And what state was first in legalizing interracial marriage? California (Perez v. sharp).
Oppose bans on marriage equality (racial or otherwise)- vote no on prop 8.
i love this commercial cuz basically were saying were gonna prevevnt you from marrying the person you love and thats not right everyone deserves to love and be with the person who makes them happy
The best part of the video that seems to be lost on posters here?

GREAT ad!!! I belong to Vermont Freedom to Marry and I am completely heterosexual. It is WRONG to deny any two people who love each other this simple thing. How does two people I don't know and will probably never meet getting married affect me OR my marriage? Answer: It doesn't. End of discussion. Peace.
I also think its funny that they use man and women in the commercial. They do this so people against gays, wouldn't vote for it. The point is, What if you couldn't marry the person you love? (man or woman) So they should use both man and man or woman and woman to get the point across. Other wise it is just simply very confusing.
Not really. If they used a couple of men or a couple of women, it would absolutely not get their point across to those against gay marriage. The point in being, they can't relate. The way they did it hear was smarter ( though the ad itself remains too ridiculous to not be humorous) because it allows the straight male/female to sympathize with their situation.
no. the point is, gay couples feel the same way as straight couples. the ad is designed so perhaps the majority of people watching it (ie straight people) can realize how upset they would be if they were denied the right to marry the person they loved.
Actually, history shows civil rights movements gain strength when people not from the target group join in. So the Black civil rights movement really took off when whites saw other white people getting the fire hoses turned on them and white priests marched with MLK. Why? Because it showed it wasn't a race issue, it was a JUSTICE issue that people of ALL races who care about equality should support. Just like here, where straight people see how bad it would be to not have the right to marry.
I'm puzzled on this, God loves everyone, even gay. Its wrong to marry the same sex, but is it wrong to marry the person you love? God says marry the person you love. My father would always joke and say "Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" but still, I think you should marry the person you care about, even though its wrong. My cousin(s?..) are gay, and we're all a christian family. I doubt I would judge the average gay person. But you can't help but look, or even think about it. Even if you are one
i have nothing against gay marriage but this ad is so annoying and they play it too much here in california. grrr.... and waitaminnit, isnt gay marriage legal in california anyway? why the advertisment barrage? why? why?!?!?!?! ...beatin a moot, dead horse IMO...
For some people, the debate is never over. Even though it's currently legal, there are still people trying to get it banned. The commercial is trying to raise awareness so people won't let another ban happen.
its to keep it and vote for it and not against it i think this video is genius because what if you couldnt marry the person you love its pretty stupid i think that ppl should mind there own buisness. if its love its love
Because, segerev, proposition 8 is currently on the California ballots this fall. Prop 8 will remove the right of all californians to marry the person they love. So this is shown to remind them of how horrible it would be to have their rights taken away. Support equality - vote no on prop 8.
It's funny how on other postings of this video the uneducated don't understand this commerical. It's the same people who are brainwashed by FOX NEWS. Too bad they are allowed to vote... it's troubling to note that there are people like that walking this planet. LOVE is love and people trying to keep Homosexuals from marrying are filled with HATE. No wonder we still live in a time of WAR. Even Jesus represented LOVE and COMPASSION. How do hate filled conservatives sleep at night?
I'm just going to let all of the homophobia on this thread go for once. I'm tired of everyone yelling at us for being who we are and for being something that we can't change. So I'm just going comment on how people are saying that this ad is dumb because it features a straight couple.
The fact is, it would be much less powerful to the target audience if it were a gay couple. This ad is meant to have straight people be sympathetic to the cause & it does that. Kudos to the company that did this.
I check my recent replies on youtube, so... I should be the one asking you: have you got a life? By the same token, if you reply to this, then clearly you are as sad as you claim I am, if not sadder.
It's not that simple. This makes the mainstream reflect on an event that has mattered so much to them, their family, or friends. And helps them imagine for a second not having the right to marry and the sense of frustration that goes with it. Gays will vote No and homophobes will vote yes. It gives the undecided and ambivalent something to emotionally relate to in hopes of convincing them marriage is something two adults in love should have regardless of gender. And in that it's effective.
btw wheter any1 likes it or not gays are populating it will neva stop..love is love..let ppl b who they r..give em equal rites ..they also pay taxes...and i am pretty sure most homophobic hide things..besides there are thousands of soldiers dat die for YOUR ASS some hiding the fact that they are gay.. u neva thanked em why not now? stop discriminating or there will always b hate in this world besides who r ppl to judge?dats gods job..im sure it isnt urs
it...it has meaning? WHAT THE HELL IS THE MESSAGE HERE? her wedding is botched and then they say "what if you couldnt marry the person you love?" great job having a straight couple then fellas, thats going to make this commercial contribute to gay rights
That's the whole point - gay people already know that particular frustration. It's supposed to be raising awareness and empathy amongst straight people, to try and get them to understand how gay people feel so they'll be more inclined to support gay rights. In other words, "Your wedding day might get botched, but how would you feel if you couldn't marry the person you loved in the first place?" I would have thought that was rather obvious.
except that doesnt even begin to send the correct message. she can just get up and get married without any problems, if they really wanted to send a message they'd have people protesting the straight marriage
I can't pretend to know if it was a case of network cowardice, but I really believe this has a better chance of getting the message across to straights who might be opposed or on the fence than taking a stronger stance. I think it's reaches out to them in a place they can relate to, and then asks them to consider what it's like for those who don't have the luxury they have of moving forward in that situation. It encourages an empathy that a more symbolic approach may or may not have done.
Also, I just noticed this was an ad from California, where the the same-sex marriage ban was recently overturned and gay marriage legalized. So while that couldn't be attributed soley to this ad, it clearly didn't harm the cause, and may actually have helped.
Do you know what is so funny about this commercial? They feature the opposite sex getting ready to marry to twist their message. Why don't they feature their message with actual same sex couples trying to get married? Because they know it will look weird to individuals who watch this. What a laugh.
What I got out of this commercial is that gays/lesbians are still not satisfied. So now I suppose they want to force Christians, Jews, and Muslims to marry them, even if its against traditional values. I have a fiancee in the Philippines, and I love her, yet I have to go through a long expensive grueling rocess just to get her here, while people who live alternative lifestyles complain about what they already have. This country is screwed up!
"So now I suppose they want to force Christians, Jews, and Muslims to marry them, even if its against traditional values."
Can you please cite a single instance in the entire USA when a gay couple tried to force some Priest or religious figure to marry them? That fact that you have to resort to total fabrication is a sign of desperation and weakness on your part.
"Every day gay couples are prevented from getting married". That was that statement at the end of the commercial. So to be consistant, smartass, can you site a single instance in which, a gay couple has been prevented from getting married, since the ruleing that allows gays to get married? You think your so ellequent? How is it that I am weak? I am just standing up for what I believe in.
I think the fact that you have to resort to calling me weak, is in its self a weakness. Could it be that you cant make a better argument? Besides, I never said that anyone specifically was prevented from marrying because of religious traditions. I merely posed a fair question of the real POSSIBILITY that gay/lesbians MAY start trying to force traditional clergy to perform marriages. Read my posts more carfully befor you respond, and disclose injustice, especially your own!
"posed a fair question of the real POSSIBILITY that gay/lesbians MAY start trying to force traditional clergy to perform marriages"
Liar. You said, "So now I suppose they want to force Christians, Jews, and Muslims to marry them, even if its against traditional values."
You didn't say POSSIBILITY and you didn't say MAY. Nice try, though. And that's the dumbest argument ever, BTW. You can't base laws on what you've arbitrarily decided people MAY do based on zero evidence.
The word "suppose" is like saying something MAY happen, in other words its synonymous with the word "estimate" or "estimation". Nice try on your part, since you attack my wording, because you cant make a better, more original argument for yourself. As for laws, I can make an assumption, and educated guess, because that is how laws are puposed: comprimise. Maybe it wont happen abruptly, but when the day comes, and all of a sudden people are forced to perform marrigaes, we will see who is right.
There's no "education" in your "guess". You're just bigot who uses scare tactics to try and justify your bigotry. U could say, "I suppose gay people are going to try to outlaw straight marriages." Or "I suppose gay people will try to start forcing straight people to marry the same gender". U can "suppose" anything at all. That's no argument. This issue is "should the government recognize the rights of gay people to marry." Period. U offered NO argument against that because you have none.
I don't need an argument for you stupid fucking made up bigoted hypothetical scenario. But, just to humor you: Various churches already refuse to perform marriages. Some won't ministers won't perform for "mixed" religions, some for people who have divorced, and nearly all won't perform services for non-believers. Their right to refuse service to those they feel are against their faith has ALREADY been upheld by the law. Sorry, bigot. You'll need another argument. (One that makes sense).
In case you didn't know, you dumbfuck, we don't "already have" anything. The right to marry goes up for a vote in November. Until then, any marriages taking place may be invalidated at that time.
The fact that I can marry ANYONE I want and ANYTIME I want (AND ON TOP OF EVERYTHING get extra benefits with it) is fucked up! really fucked up when I look at my lesbian friends and suddenly I feel as if I was a superior type of human being because there is "people" in my state, in my country, in the world, that believes "THEM? PLEASE, THEY don't have the same human rights" that is fucked up. Thank you cruelraspberry to upload this video.
Bendutta2008, If you're trying to get people to understand things you don't just give them the full blunt of it. Think about it this way: If anti-gay people were sitting at home and a commercial came up and it had two men getting married, don't you think they would go, "Ew!" and change it? This, in my opinion, is a super powerful commercial.
The world loves a bride. I plan to be a fantabulous one! Give us potential brides a break. Its not about Latinas and white guys! Its a beautiful commercial. They should do it in Spanish. Get your mind out of my bedroom haters, nobody asked you over!
I saw this ad during The Simpsons and thought, "Dude, that was awesome." Hopefully, people will stop seeing homosexuals as sinners (which they aren't) and start seeing them as human.
There is no right or wrong in finding love and executing your freedom of choice. The more kinds of love we LEARN to appreciate, respect, and T-O-L-E-R-A-T-E as ONE SOCIETY, the more well-educated and compassionate children this country will adopt. LOVE makes miracles; LOVE moves mountains; let's make a better world for us and profess UNITY this november...like never before. UNITY is a beautiful word. We only live once. Make sure to vote NO on PROP 8.

unless you believe the Holy Bible man and woman were meant to be together.
and i don't believe in Pluralism
i don't think we should reject gays but we should reject the IDEA of gay/homosexual
anyways the whole point of this debate is that i don't think it's right to have same sex marriage because it's impure it's not according to how God made us to be
The fact that we all can possess many interpretations of every single passage of the bible does not mean we should hate each other. Those people (gays and lesbians) have had the blessing of god to be here the second they were born, who the hell do you think you are to vote YES on prop 8? GOD's love is UNCONDITIONAL.
so those people that are homosexual people who perhaps don't share your beliefs in christ should be denied the right of marriage - which is in fact a matter of the state, which, if i recall correctly, was separated from the church?
who THE HELL do you think you are to JUDGE what's immoral? we are talking about people that have gone to war like me, people who pay their taxes just like you and your church members, people who DESERVE to LOVE without boundaries and make their official union as legal as your own existence. MILLIONS OF STRAIGHT PEOPLE GET MARRIED EVERY DAY WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING WHO THE CURRENT POPE IS and you are trying to pull the excuse of "the bible says this and that".
this isnt about the white guy not being able to marry the latina, there are plenty of biracial marriages, u guys dont get it. have u visited the website? its about gays not being able to get married and all the obstacles they have to face in order to be heard. i dunno how u came up with that conclusion that a white man and latina have trouble getting married, no1 even talks about biracial marriages anymore.
I love this commercial. A lot of people dont get it. The message is simply about gay marriage. Finally someone puts up a good commercial like this. It touches me because I, like thousands of other human beings, am gay. Homophobic people need to think hard about this. What if we banned opposite sex marriage and you couldn't marry the person you love. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HELPED MAKE THIS COMMERCIAL AND AIRING IT!
I am glad someone else sees this exactly like myself. This commercial is about not letting the white guy marry the latina. This is typical bullshit liberal anti white media.Too many americans particulary white americans are easily brainwashed by the networks. This country has gone down the sh*tter bigtime.
I think all you guys are missing the point. I think this commercial is really about not letting a white guy marry a latina. After being a long time white-supremacist, I was challenged by this commercial's thought provoking thesis. I now have changed my mind and now support to the death a white man's right to marry a latina!
It bugs when people have to revert to cussing to try to get his or her point across. Gay marriages harms the insitution of marriage. How are we denying them freedom of choice? We allow them to choose to be gay. and they are allowed under civil union. we just want marriage solely to be man and woman basis; just like how it was all through-out time
choose to be gay? wtf is wrong with you. Gay men dont choose to be gay. Did you choose to like woman. You are fucking retarted. You cant force a fucking erection.
What a stupid and racist commercial that insults the straight white male.Of course the video is insulting the straight white male.Instead of having to male they show a white male being insulted on national t.v.
The anti white liberal media has caused nothing but problems after problems.
if gays were such a great lifestyle, than why would the be supressed in the first place? you just proved the point that the only thing good going out of this thing for gay marriages is tax exemption. Gay marriages has never been accepted even in our past histories. there has been gay activites but never marriage.
Also if the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act is thrown out(Barack Obama has promised to do so if elected) then the States will lose the right to define marriage within their own borders. That is why the Leftists need to be defeated soundly on this issue. They're pushing "San Francisco" values on the rest of the country whether we want them or not.
This ad is pure deception on the part of the Gay Left. Some Christian churches actually do "marry" gay couples and have been doing so for quite some time. What Andrew Sullivan and others like him want is forced acceptance of the gay lifestyle by any means necessary. Right now, there's not enough Constitutional protection for religions to exclude gays from marrying within the walls of their own churches without jeopardizing their tax exempt statis.
Name a couple who would WANT to get married in a church that was being forced to marry them. I'm sure that would be a lovely ceremony for both the couple and the wedding guests.

EverythingAustin 2 years ago 3
wow, all of you people are crazy. i don't necessarily agree with being gay, but it's not MY choice to make for other people. if you or i want to be straight or christian or gay or atheist, it's our own choice. you can't legislate stuff like that and make those decisions for other people. that's just bigotry and crazy narcissism.

Just because another group doesn't understand us, doesn't make our relationships automatically bad. (As oppossed to 'bad for them'.)

TheSchmuckLook 3 years ago 3
I also think its funny that they use man and women in the commercial. They do this so people against gays, wouldn't vote for it. The point is, What if you couldn't marry the person you love? (man or woman) So they should use both man and man or woman and woman to get the point across. Other wise it is just simply very confusing.
meetbrooke 3 years ago
Azuris3478 3 years ago 2
no. the point is, gay couples feel the same way as straight couples. the ad is designed so perhaps the majority of people watching it (ie straight people) can realize how upset they would be if they were denied the right to marry the person they loved.

So allow them to marry and take away tax benefits for both homosexual and heterosexual couples. :)

Just like here, where straight people see how bad it would be to not have the right to marry.
laxjok2001 3 years ago
ahh, good point.
meetbrooke 3 years ago
I'm puzzled on this, God loves everyone, even gay. Its wrong to marry the same sex, but is it wrong to marry the person you love? God says marry the person you love. My father would always joke and say "Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" but still, I think you should marry the person you care about, even though its wrong. My cousin(s?..) are gay, and we're all a christian family. I doubt I would judge the average gay person. But you can't help but look, or even think about it. Even if you are one

fondme 3 years ago
It's not that simple. This makes the mainstream reflect on an event that has mattered so much to them, their family, or friends. And helps them imagine for a second not having the right to marry and the sense of frustration that goes with it. Gays will vote No and homophobes will vote yes. It gives the undecided and ambivalent something to emotionally relate to in hopes of convincing them marriage is something two adults in love should have regardless of gender. And in that it's effective.

it...it has meaning? WHAT THE HELL IS THE MESSAGE HERE? her wedding is botched and then they say "what if you couldnt marry the person you love?" great job having a straight couple then fellas, thats going to make this commercial contribute to gay rights
MidgarMerc 3 years ago
That's the whole point - gay people already know that particular frustration. It's supposed to be raising awareness and empathy amongst straight people, to try and get them to understand how gay people feel so they'll be more inclined to support gay rights. In other words, "Your wedding day might get botched, but how would you feel if you couldn't marry the person you loved in the first place?" I would have thought that was rather obvious.
bewtifulfreak 3 years ago 2
except that doesnt even begin to send the correct message. she can just get up and get married without any problems, if they really wanted to send a message they'd have people protesting the straight marriage
MidgarMerc 3 years ago
I can't pretend to know if it was a case of network cowardice, but I really believe this has a better chance of getting the message across to straights who might be opposed or on the fence than taking a stronger stance. I think it's reaches out to them in a place they can relate to, and then asks them to consider what it's like for those who don't have the luxury they have of moving forward in that situation. It encourages an empathy that a more symbolic approach may or may not have done.
bewtifulfreak 3 years ago
Also, I just noticed this was an ad from California, where the the same-sex marriage ban was recently overturned and gay marriage legalized. So while that couldn't be attributed soley to this ad, it clearly didn't harm the cause, and may actually have helped.

MCArchangel777 3 years ago
"So now I suppose they want to force Christians, Jews, and Muslims to marry them, even if its against traditional values."
Can you please cite a single instance in the entire USA when a gay couple tried to force some Priest or religious figure to marry them? That fact that you have to resort to total fabrication is a sign of desperation and weakness on your part.
FreedomUSA1 3 years ago
"Every day gay couples are prevented from getting married". That was that statement at the end of the commercial. So to be consistant, smartass, can you site a single instance in which, a gay couple has been prevented from getting married, since the ruleing that allows gays to get married? You think your so ellequent? How is it that I am weak? I am just standing up for what I believe in.
MCArchangel777 3 years ago
There are other states besides California and Mass where gay couples are prevented from getting married every day.
eddiesocket 3 years ago
I think the fact that you have to resort to calling me weak, is in its self a weakness. Could it be that you cant make a better argument? Besides, I never said that anyone specifically was prevented from marrying because of religious traditions. I merely posed a fair question of the real POSSIBILITY that gay/lesbians MAY start trying to force traditional clergy to perform marriages. Read my posts more carfully befor you respond, and disclose injustice, especially your own!
MCArchangel777 3 years ago
"posed a fair question of the real POSSIBILITY that gay/lesbians MAY start trying to force traditional clergy to perform marriages"
Liar. You said, "So now I suppose they want to force Christians, Jews, and Muslims to marry them, even if its against traditional values."
You didn't say POSSIBILITY and you didn't say MAY. Nice try, though. And that's the dumbest argument ever, BTW. You can't base laws on what you've arbitrarily decided people MAY do based on zero evidence.
eddiesocket 3 years ago
The word "suppose" is like saying something MAY happen, in other words its synonymous with the word "estimate" or "estimation". Nice try on your part, since you attack my wording, because you cant make a better, more original argument for yourself. As for laws, I can make an assumption, and educated guess, because that is how laws are puposed: comprimise. Maybe it wont happen abruptly, but when the day comes, and all of a sudden people are forced to perform marrigaes, we will see who is right.
MCArchangel777 3 years ago
There's no "education" in your "guess". You're just bigot who uses scare tactics to try and justify your bigotry. U could say, "I suppose gay people are going to try to outlaw straight marriages." Or "I suppose gay people will try to start forcing straight people to marry the same gender". U can "suppose" anything at all. That's no argument. This issue is "should the government recognize the rights of gay people to marry." Period. U offered NO argument against that because you have none.
eddiesocket 3 years ago
I don't need an argument for you stupid fucking made up bigoted hypothetical scenario. But, just to humor you: Various churches already refuse to perform marriages. Some won't ministers won't perform for "mixed" religions, some for people who have divorced, and nearly all won't perform services for non-believers. Their right to refuse service to those they feel are against their faith has ALREADY been upheld by the law. Sorry, bigot. You'll need another argument. (One that makes sense).
eddiesocket 3 years ago
In case you didn't know, you dumbfuck, we don't "already have" anything. The right to marry goes up for a vote in November. Until then, any marriages taking place may be invalidated at that time.

It bugs when people have to revert to cussing to try to get his or her point across. Gay marriages harms the insitution of marriage. How are we denying them freedom of choice? if gays were such a great lifestyle, than why would the be supressed in the first place? you just proved the point that the only thing good going out of this thing for gay marriages is tax exemption. Gay marriages has never been accepted even in our past histories. there has been gay activites but never marriage.
FLIRTSSTAR 3 years ago
Also if the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act is thrown out(Barack Obama has promised to do so if elected) then the States will lose the right to define marriage within their own borders. That is why the Leftists need to be defeated soundly on this issue. They're pushing "San Francisco" values on the rest of the country whether we want them or not.
RCHorn7 3 years ago
This ad is pure deception on the part of the Gay Left. Some Christian churches actually do "marry" gay couples and have been doing so for quite some time. What Andrew Sullivan and others like him want is forced acceptance of the gay lifestyle by any means necessary. Right now, there's not enough Constitutional protection for religions to exclude gays from marrying within the walls of their own churches without jeopardizing their tax exempt statis.

Name a couple who would WANT to get married in a church that was being forced to marry them. I'm sure that would be a lovely ceremony for both the couple and the wedding guests.
