If I have a video editing software that I'd like to load on my computer but my computer hard drive is full ; will an external hard drive be able to fix that issue or do I have to clean up, save the program on the computer first to be able to transfer it on the ext. hard drive ?
Does it come W/ BOTH THE cord fire wire and usb and an another question there are other drives for windows and software if i setup the hard drive can i use it on my mac?
Don't buy one. I bought a Freeagent Go about 6 months ago (new) because I don't have a computer, and a few days ago, it stopped running. Nothing was done to it- the body is in perfect condition. Seagate's warranty will give me a replacement, but in order to recover the files (and to be honest, those are worth far more to me than their hard drive), I would have to pay over $1000 for data recovery. This is the second Seagate I've owned, and the exact same thing happened before.
Great review Mitch, straight to the point. I am trying to find out whether to buy this model or the toshiba 500gb one, can anyone recommend either for me?
i just bought one today, i go to plug the usb cable in and the usb dock slides into the case.... i returned it and got another one and the same thing happened!! this thing sucks my next one will be Wester Digital
I just grabbed the 500GB USB only model, the USB cable is a let-down and the lack of a dock is annoying, but great price and I have 5 spare cables anyway. 10/10
I freaking hate drives that come with software installed on them. In an ideal world, I plug it in, a non-windows operating system makes a confirmation noise, and then I can send data to it. I don't need some manga character popping up on the screen and spraying spherical animals with KY while DDR Butterfly plays as a trojan warrior named Sony rides up on a white horse and carries my data off to valhalla 2.0 where special market angels decide what I want to buy next for me. Also, cocks.
I know it's all new to you, but there is a concept called "deleting files" in the computer world. There is an even neater trick commonly known as "quick format" which takes few seconds. But let's walk before we run. Tomorrow, we'll do shapes.
JUNK! I just bought Seagate 500gb free agent Go one week ago. It has already failed after extremely minimal use. Never dropped, just sat next to my computer to transfer simple video and text files which it did fine for 5 or 6 transfers before suddenly not transfering any more files ( with over 470 GB still free ), not recognizing itself and just beeps every 1 to 2 seconds! Seagate needs a lawsuit brought against them. I bought this as a reliable backup for my data.
I just bought one and I don't think I'm really happy with it...'cause I was really expecting a 320GB capacity or at least 300+ capacity. Mine has only 290+ capacity... 310-315GB is Tolerable but only 290GB+ for the real capacity. I just wanna ask if someone have the same problem...
I would never buy seagate i work in retail selling computers and doing repair work... whats the drive that I always see failing? Seagate! we had so many faulty Seagate drives that now we exclusively sell Western Digital or Samsung. True you dont get the 5 year warranty instead its 3 years, but whats the good of a 5 year warranty when you've lost all your data?
I work as an IT professional for a Hewlett-Packard reseller and systems engineering firm. I've gotta say that the internal seagate drives that we sell in the desktops and some servers rarely fail (I've only ever seen two fail). So I've gotta say I am very surprised to hear of all the failures you're talking about... Did they fail due to bad sectors or they won't spin up or what?
Im the only person I know who uses a bare 2.5" 500GB with a SATA to USB cable as an external. Everyone else I know payed 30/40% more than me for a encased one.
I like your old style better, more casual and more entertaining. This style is good but like the old one better. Sounds your like a robot with an english accent. Good review
hmm, new style is good but I prefer the old style of reviews better.
"The reason that i prefer reviews done by the average Joe is that i feel a more of an honest opinion is given and every day language is used which we can relate to." - from your Youtube channel page.

yo lad, top draw review as always, gotta admit though I prefer your normal style, the new ones great sounds professional as hell an was impressive, I think your normal style is more of a down to earth one though and thats what I like more but still great review lad, keep em comin
Very professional video and the hard drive looks amazing I have a 1 TB western digital FireWire 800 mybook drive though the build quality is poor ESP compared to this. I'll be investing in one for college next year and keep my WD at home for backs ups.
Wow Great review and like the new style except you were a lil fast at the beginning with your voice. Just hit the breaks a lil next time and it'll be perfect! Thanks for the videos
Im looking for a new hard drive, sub £100. Would you recommend this or is there a better one for less than £100. Just looking for one to use with time machine...
The firewire and usb cabled powers the device. However if you have USB 1.1 You need the power cable. But the power comes from an addition usb so you dont need the plug which is very handy when out.
Yes I am getting this one because it is aluminum not plastic and aluminum lasts longer. I also like the dock plus witch has a usb hub built into it and it will be nice for the laptop I am getting.
