I kind of disagree with you on the amount of tracks... I like the idea of more than just the standard 10-12 tracks on album (especially if its a short one) because its worth more of your time to listen to 15 tracks as opposed to 10. But on the other hand, some albums are just fine with as much as 6 tracks, it all depends on the content I guess.
its definitely as good as anything they came up with. to me sy have been as awesome the last decade as they had been the years earlier. and why should i even rate such great music as sonic youth's. on this level there are no categories anymore imo. imagine they would have started with dirty and no earlier album exists - they would still be what they are: probably the best and most creative songwriting-guitar-band ever. even the one album everyone rates worst (Murray) is better than any band gets
What's wrong with Sonic Youth's earlier work? To me, the Sonic Youth ep to Daydream Nation run was perhaps the best creative outputs in all of rock history. No one touched the way they produced music then...
And who rates Murray Street as the worst? To me, it's Experimental Jet Set tied with Rather Ripped.
listen, i only said i can't rate any SY album "bad". so nothing's wrong. so sad you do it again... i don't know why ExpJST and RR should be bad. both such great rock albums. imagine those were SY's only albums out, they'd still be the greatest creative guitar band in the world. why should i f*ckin rate any SY album "bad"? only because my fav. songs are on other SY albums? that's so damn stupid.
Whoa there Seabiscuit. I didn't say they were bad, I just said that they were the worst outputs. You shouldn't even imagine bastardizing the Sonic Youth discography by considering what they would be without the albums before Dirty...I don't know if they would fit that claim of best creative guitar, songwriting band in the world without those albums, but they are still pretty damn great (tons of bands rival them in that respect).
Sonic Youth to Daydream Nation= best, IMO. Goo- beyond is great too
Actually, most rate Goodbye 20th Century as their worst. Murray Street was great and so was Rather Ripped. If you're bothered by the whole "going mellow" thing, you shouldn't be listening to Sonic Youth.
This really sounds well-produced, a lot is going on, but stil you can hear it all. And compared to Rather Ripped ir feels like they rock a little mo0re know. Or at least I hope, kinda feel like a rock album.
i see you...

Ahahaha...I had already heard the song and I was going to post "FUCKING AWESOME" but someone else beat me to it.
Perfect; a mixture between Dirty, A Thousand Leaves and Sonic Nurse. This is the Sonic Youth CD I have waited for.
