I have been told that the first generation Suzuki Gsxr-1000 had a vicious power peak at 9000 rpm and higher. It was apparently dubbed the widow maker. Modern day traction control could have prevented this. Never roll on more throttle while simultaneously increasing lean angle.
he corrected himself from little bit slipping/drifting and that was the cause ;/ i would like to race on track but i only have a kawasaki ninja 250r ;/
Hate to see anybody out having a good time and lose it like this. He is our biker brother no matter if on track or the street. Hope he does not half to go through this shit agian. Take it easy my man,and keep it up on two wheels...
Wow: ozolrender0, your analysis of the accident is amazing! I am signing on to be one of your followers so that I can learn much more from your obvious mastery of riding. Thank you.
i love the way everybody is a genius an knows what happened. The rider is the only one that knows what happened. An as long as he was'nt badly hurt that's the main thing.
He only had one chance, for one of the shortest moments of his life, that I am sure he will never forget. When that tire broke loose he should have held the throttle wide open, he closed it in that brief moment while deciding what he should do. The tire broke loose locked regriped and caused a high side.
he hit a weeper on the track a weeper is a puddle of water that seeps up through the black top. the crash didn't have any other contributors. he hit the water and crashed. it hadn't been raining or anything like that for days there are evidentally underground springs under the track at barber
Can't be his head against the road that sounds cos that would mean that the sound had traveled waaaaay faster towards the microphone in the camera then usual. If his helmet went against the road and gave a knocking sound, you would hear it some time AFTER the visual image of the helmet smacking against the pavement sinse light is much faster then sound. =)
Naah. Make a friend bounce a ball in the ground some 100 meters away from you and you'll see that the sound takes about 0,5 seconds to hit your ears. =)
Half of you are retarded. The bike had nothing to do with him being a squid. He was taking a great line, if you were half as intelligent as you think you guys are you would notice that there was a wet spot on the track that he hit. I want to see someone save a high side at 130+ that kicked out that quick.
His neck didn't break. He broke a couple of ribs and punctured a lung. He crashed because of a "weeper" (water that comes up through the track from underground springs - it was 80 degrees for 3 days with no rain)
look at the way he crashes, what makes you people think he suffers enough trauma to die from this? at least the bike was straight enough to where you didnt highside, ouch. been there, broken collar.
I crashed in this EXACT spot,,,!!! Same style too, A highside..have video from the rear of my dads bike which i was following, im gonna get it loaded up asap
if you want to see more of jerry heres his site w w w dot u n t a m e d v e l o c i t y dot c o m enjoy it you can put a pic to the face and see more of his riding....
There's only two types of motorcycle riders: 1) someone who has crashed, and 2) someone who is going to crash....I'm just glad to know that this was done on a track, rather than the street/canyons. Good footage!

It actually isnt as scary as most would think.... So long as you have decent protection you just glide over the ashphalt... Its when you add other drivers onto the road when things get complicated ... and dare i say it - painfull
I think you missed a few stationary objects like: guardrails, trees, parked cars, side of mountains, etc. I know how stupid it is to crash in the street/canyons versus racetracks, and personally know how far we slide after falling off at 100+mph testing tires that are not yet sold to the public.
have you actually BEEN to any of these tracks ?? I have and...Sears Point is a piece of shit, lime rock is not even a bike track, mo-sport looks like something that club racers ran in in the early `70s with wall everywhere... Barber is a proper motorcycle track. It needs some more straightaway, but other than that, the place rocks.
Suspension bottoming out, as he was getting on the gas on the exit, caused the rear to step out...very common crash that may have been prevented by standing the bike up as he was getting on the gas (who knows?...)
jerry is ok, i know him hes a friend of mine my best friend ted roper was with him on that day, and i have ridden with jerry before hes a great rider im surprised he crashed...... but yes hes ok just got banged up
This is the exit of T2. I see airfence, but not all the way up. Good he didn't do a Moto out into the grass. Barber is one of the safest around, but look at ALL that Armco. I've raced there several times and never noticed it before, until a couple of weeks ago when a fellow racer was killed hitting the unprotected guardrail coming out of T10.
Like everything in life, it's a calculated risk. Check the stats, I bet you're more likely to break a hip falling down the stairs than to meet this riders fate. This video is extraordinary. That's why you're watching. If it were the norm, it wouldn't be extraordinary. Duhh.
Hope he's OK!. That's the risk of this sport. Even if you are not racing it always happens. Also I do don't have safety armours around me but still crazy with it.

you have to be about crazy to ride on something with no "armor" around you on only 2 wheels. It is as if you are just asking to be killed or paralyzed.
WOW . . That was NASTY . . I hope the rider was ok after . .
