Ok to all of you people not familiar with the books, movies, etc. Between the two species' of orcs (yes, uruk-hai are a type of orc), it is constantly stated that uruk-hai are far superior to other orcs. They are cunning, strong, and have a nearly everlasting endurance. In the first movie, they caught up with the fellowship on foot all the way from Isengard. One uruk-hai is equivalent to five orcs. Do the math.

3 main types of orcs, Uruk-Hai, orcs and goblins. Uruk-Hai is the ones pefected for one prupose, to fight. They can be in daylight and can cover greeat distanses at great speed. Goblins are agile and fast at very short distances. The also live in the mines where htey can seein pitch-black. Orcs are the ones that are a combination of the two.

Orcs are just twisted elves whereas Uruk hai are a man/goblin hybrid. Uruk hai are also much larger in size and strength. While orcs outnumber the Uruk hai greatly, in a one on one battle they'd be destroyed. The final factor is armor. The intense attention to detail by Saruman ensured that their armor was superb; therefore, Uruk hai would reign supreme over the orcs.
