It's a bone stock Springfield Loaded .45 acp. I shot that gun in probably 50 IDPA matches and it ran with the Kimbers and Colts that cost way more than it did.
You have amazing recoil control. I'm sure it's a combination of you experience with your handgun, technique, and some simple physics you're a big boy so I'm sure that helps out. I need to start lifting weights.
I've watched a number of videos with people firing 45s.. in some videos there is muzzle flash, in other videos there isn't.. why is that? are they different guns? do all guns have muzzle flash? sorry if this question sounds ignorant, just askin
Stick with the 1911, though Rock Island 1911's are bottom of the barrel when it comes to 1911's- you aren't confusing them with Rock River Arms are you? they make great 1911's. I suggest you shell out the extra cash, and get a top of the line 1911, that will outlast you, your kids, and your kids' kids. I would suggest Springfield armory; my Trophy match cost me $1100, and i get 7 shot 1/4" groups at 25 yards with it. Stay away from Kimber; they're good pistols, but you pay for the flashy looks.
Though Rock Island is actually not a bad choice for a beginner's pistol, I would concur with the recommendation for Springfield Armory.
If there were a 1911 pistol *I* would recommend against, it would be the Taurus PT-1911. They are actually decent pistols, but there have been unusually higher incidences of failure of some of the parts, particularly the ambi safety. The biggest killer: sluggish customer service.
Springfield and even Rock Island have better service.
Everytime I've fired my 1911 at an indoor range, it's like I'm getting my picture taken with every shot. The muzzle flash lights up the target area. I have used Federal, Winchester and some Remington (I think). Always 230 grains, both Ball and HP. Smoky rounds too..leaves smoldering residue out the muzzle like the old .45 Colt SAA. Fun.
At the time of that video did the gun have any modifications? Damn that's great recoil control.

Usually the difference is in the powder. Also, there is always some muzzle flash. The lighter the conditions the less you will see it.

I have decided to get a new 45acp, I dont know, it will be between a Rock Island 1911 or a Glcok 21, maybe even a Ruger p90.

Whatever you do, don't get a Rock Island 1911; spend the extra cash to get a quality 1911.

Hmm...I would suggest..
Springfield XD 45ACP 4" service or Compact.
if you're looking for the longer version..its called the TACTICAL. ( 5" )
great firearm ( IMHO )

I believe I was using my own hand loads;200 grain lead semi-wad cutter over 4.5 grains of Hodgdon's Clays.
