  • hmm... tomatoes, cabbage, blackberries, pears and many others contain glyconutrients as well. This seaweed only shit is silliness. No offense to David or his lifestyle, I am a raw food vegan myself, but he does not look anywhere near as healthy as he should with the claims he makes.

  • GLYCONUTRIENTS ARE THE BIGGEST FAKE!

THERE IS NOT EVEN SUCH TERM IN BIOLOGY!

IT WAS CREATED BY MANNATECH TO SELL SUPPLEMENTS!

ALL COMPLEX SUGARS WE EAT ARE CONVERTED TO MONOSACCHARIDES! PLUS SUGARS DONT HAVE ANABOLIC PROPERTIES! THEY DONT BUILD OUR BODIES! THEY CAN ONLY GIVE US ENERGY!

THESE MARKETING TRICKSTERS ARE PLAYING WITH OUR HEALTH!

  • @superads91 You are wrong: There is most defiantly such terms in biology. Sugars (glyconutriens) are much more than an energy source. In fact there is nothing factual in your post at all.

  • @03141892

Then give me references of studies that prove so.

  • @superads91 Physician's Desk Reference (PDR) for Nonprescription Drugs and Dietary Supplements, Acta Anatomica - Glycosciences - Issue 161/1-April 1998, Science Magazine - Special Issue - Carbohydrates & Glycobiology (note to superads91: Glycobiology), Scientific American - Medicine, Jan. 22, 2002., MIT's Technology Review - October 2001 - "Sugars Could be Biology's Next Sweet Spot.", Scientific American ~ July 2002. "Sweet Medicine: Building Better Drugs from Sugars."

  • @03141892

All the researches that were done for the sake of glyconutrients were sponsored by mannatech, which sells the supplements. They are not properly peer-reviewed. And if they were they would be the biggest hype in years and all the magazines would be full of them.

  • @superads91 Again, not true. Just one example: The Australian government has granted Dr. Talitha Best a 12-month $10 million Researchers in Business (RiB) grant to help develop research on Mannatech's glyconutritional products. Yes as any good R&D company should, Mannatech does do research themselves but you can not say that its all done by mannatech. It's simply not true.

  • @03141892 Ok.

But then tell me: why are glyconutrients (polysaccharides) so important to us, if all the sugars we eat are broken down into monosaccharides to provide us energy?

    google "wikipedia catabolism"

  • Wouldn't seaweed in JAPAN be radioactive???? Because of the nuclear meltdowns???

  • too much iodine from seaweeds gave me a hyperthyroid.. you should warn skinny people who have a fast metabolism.. be careful with seaweeds.

  • @RMCrowley did that hyperthyroid go away when u stoped taking the seaweed

  • @thallious9876 I think what I had may have been environmental.. while the seaweed triggered it.. once I quit working around all these dangerous chemicals I was able to do seaweed with no side effects.. Not sure what I had going on now.. but my thyroid is fine.

  • @RMCrowley thank u for that.. clearing that up. very helpful. : )

  • If you want to know which foods to eat ask yourself, is this appealing to me in it's 100% natural state, does my body give me the tools I need to gather and consume this food and would I have lived where this food grows?

Do humans live in water? Where does seaweed grow? What would have attracted me to this food?

    All you need to know.

  • Do humans live in water, wait what? Are you suggesting we should not eat anything from water because we do not live in water?

  • @green2lean the fda recently issued a warning to avoid all plain water, saying its actually toxic and you can drown.they have approved the purple vitamin water and coke.

  • @PatrikDC High tide vs low tide. Easy to collect sea weed in numerous places if you catch the area in low tide, since it will not be underwater anymore.

And it's really healthy for you :)

  • Anyone who has anxiety & wants quick relief

can get it with a simple foot bath in magnesium

(ionic) chloride. (No I don't sell it) If you look up Mg in

any health book you will see glowing reports, but

they never tell you about delivery. Magnesium IV injection is the quickest delivery. Transdermal Mg

is 2nd fastest & 10x better than Epsom salts b/c

it will last at least 24 hrs. Mg pills=diarrhea.

If u are anxious & drink lots of coffee (excitotoxin)

MgCL2 might still work but not as well.

  • ive been known to wipe my arse with seaweed

  • I'm wondering how seaweeds play a part in our human evolution and our natural diet. That is, did our ancestors eat this stuff?

  • they would of if they lived in coastal areas, there's a long history of seaweed usage traditionally, it's also used to condition/fertilise soil.

  • They made/make stews out of it - at least in Northern Europe. Asia used/uses it in 'salads', Hawaiians use/used it as a sidedish and condiment, etc...It has a long history of use in the world.

  • Sushi.

  • I am of European descent, not Asian.

  • would all these seaweeds be the best option for dha? which has the highest amount of dha? if poss...still learning here.

  • polysacharides are starches. Stretchy proteins??? Glyconutrients? Glyconutrients would by carbohydrates buddy, not proteins. This guy is so full of shat.

  • glyconutrients are identified in the textbook Harper's Biochemistry as providing the composition for glycoprotein structures which are the basis for cell-to-cell communication. i've read lots of studies and magazine articles etc about this new find in diet... its not a joke at all. its a rather exciting new concept that indeed is amazing

  • What a scam artist, he gives no justification for his claims.

Seems like a hard sell he's doing here:

"this is the new direction we're going"

utter junk, glyconutrients...there are millions of possible glycoproteins and polysaccharides, but luckily, seaweed happens to have them all.

However, I do agree that there do exist immune enhancing carbohydrates, I do not agree with the way that he is selling them.

  • did you want an asterisk next to everything he says? he's clearly not teaching a complete lesson on the subject... i've read dozens of hours on the subject and its very credible... i know that Wolfe is pretty remarkable and has helped more people with overcoming health challenges than an entire hospital of doctors handing out pills..look up his background and schooling and read a little of his literature ... then try and be cocky

  • @glycoboy 3 People are brainwashed Morons! that listen to doctors and live off pharmaceutical drugs!

  • i read/see that sea vegetables are very rich in nutrients, but am wary when someone says you need them... there are many peoples living healthfully in places far from any ocean

i was thinking specifically about those in the hunza valley...

    just some thoughts

  • for people living in the hunza valley etc.. their diets etc are sooooo healthy that their body can make the glyconutrients not found in their food... ours could too but there are so many steps for this to happen that its too hard for the body to make em... i talked to some of the leading doctors like reg mcdaniel(?) and learned lots.. he's the guy responsible for isolating Mannose, the principle molecule in aloe vera, and stabalizing it so it can be on the shelf in any product you've seen

  • Seaweed, an age old food that anyone with any knowledge of nutrition should already know about. Raw fooders have to be the most ignorant people out there considering how much of David Wolfe's material is old news and how they just lap up whatver he says. Get rid of the pancho. You're not the Messiah.

  • Here is a very good place to get sea vegetables, the company is called "Main Coast Sea Vegetables" Look them up on the internet.

All their sea vegs are from the East coast Atlantic where the water is very cold and clean and mineral rich. Its one source but if you were totype in se vegtables or sea weed in internet browser Im sure links would come up for companies that carry them, but do your homework where these companies get there seaweed and vegs from, shop around for purity.

  • I wonder where I can purchase the best seaweed available, aside from physically going to the place.

  • Hi All, I can't find raw seaweed in my city. So far I've only found roasted nori sheets. Any suggestions?

  • google OHSV

  • Thanks. I actually asked in my health food store this time instead of just "looking" and it seems they have a few kinds and many are sun dried, which is considered raw right? And I will Google OHSV.

  • good stuff

  • Does seaweed retain mercury like fish does? Or do the glyconutrients negate that?

  • you don't need to worry about mercury in sea weed. Basically, nature is made perfect, sea weed will be safe for another 200 years of pollution, unless they make a super extreme toxin in the coming years...

  • No offense but that statement is false. Hybridized carrots are "nature". Sea Weed lives in the same environment that fish do. So unless you have some source, I'm going to have to say, wishful thinking friend! Because outside of nuclear waste, for humans, mercury is the worst or close to it!

  • Lets say fish at the top of the food chain has 1 unit of mercury in it. Seaweed would have 0.00000000001 units of mercury.

And by nature, i mean to say, "what was here before man fucked around with life". Your argument makes no sense anyways, by "nature" i could be talking about fugu fish, if you eat it's liver or ovaries it's toxic, so try and read the essence of what people say. I could be deforming your phrases to think your talking about flying goji berries.

  • Conclusion: eat seaweed, its always good unless sourced from a seaport loaded with pollution.

  • and if you want to REMOVE 100% of mercury from your body, use ZEOLITES, its the strongest detoxifier known to man.

  • Well in the scientific community you absolutely cannot take somebody's "word" for anything. There needs to be a source, and a study for empirical evidence. Otherwise its just as valid as an old wives tail. I wholeheartedly subscribe to the raw lifestyle but there is a lot of hoohaa out there. BTW zeolites are overpriced.

  • I will have to try this, I had a tooth in my mouth for years and it messed me up! I will try to use some Zeolite soon to get rid of it from my body.

  • I'm pretty much addicted ;-( to DULSE;-)

    And KELP;-)

    Love it!!

I can hear CARLA there;-))) Greetings for everybody who was there!!!! MARTA

  • God sleeps in Stones,

    breaths in Plants,

    Dreams in Animals ,

    and Explodes in David Wolfe!!;-)

Thank You, Happy Birthday , AVOCADO!!!
