  • we want to build some led lights for diving but can someone tell me how big the surface area for a heat sink needs to be for a 10w 900 lumen led from tme.eu/dok/H/HPR20D-19K10BWHA%2812000_K-14000_K%29.pdf

  • will it be possible to to connect this LED to foglights one my car?

  • wow, i had to mute that crap

  • what means mA ?

  • @cloackmu I think it mean milliAmps.

  • @cloackmu: Milli Amps. One amp divided by 1000. 800 mA = 0.8A

  • be a sweet addition to a car alarm if your cockpit blinds a thief.

  • Someone help please..I have a 10 W LED and I was playing with a piezoelectric igniter from a lighter, to see how much it would light with the short high voltage pulses that it produces. After that I realized only two of the nine leds illuminated when given low current (a few mA), at more current only 8 shine, but at higher currents (more than 100 mA) all the squares seemed to have the same bright. I don't understand what happend. I won't play with that stupid piezoelectric thing and electronics.

  • @0Sebek0 They didn't like the type of charge & are very picky in that regard. For example: too many dc volts and they actually shine dimmer than at the correct amount & will get progressively worse over time until finally failing... Static electricity can instantly destroy them & does so more often than not (my cat laid down for a nap in a box containing about a hundred 3volt 5mm ones and I threw them all away after checking about half without finding a working one)...

  • @0Sebek0 And finally, with pulsed ac current you can run with higher voltage. For example: years ago I made 2cell flashlight with five leds. It's beam was pretty bright (considering the leds were the old 5mm ones that didn't even need heatsinks) and would run for about 2.5 hours on fresh batteries. Then, because you're not supposed to run leds straight off a battery with nothing in between, I got a little puck regulator for my next flashlight. Still used only 2cells, but because the puck ->

  • @0Sebek0 took in the 3v dc and put out 23v ac at some really high pulse rate, those old 5mm leds not only shown at least twice as bright as before, but now I was able to use twenty of them! And get this, even with the leds shining so much brighter and me increasing their number by 4x, a pair of fresh batteries will run the light for a little obver six hours!!!!

  • @0Sebek0 its the low quality leds, each one is a bit different and when you limit the power, ill put it this way, all those leds are fighting for power and some will suck it all up and light, and the rest will not light because there is no power left for them.

  • @0Sebek0 another way to put it would be because the leds arnt created equal, some will draw more amps at a given voltage than others.

  • Some narration or commentary, some information during the video versus music would be appreciated.

  • may i ask a question i have an 5.5m in length and 40cm in hight logo that i want to light up with this LED ! can u tell me how many of ther LED do i need to light up the logo and where can i buy these ?

  • @pavilion655 It depends on how constant you want to light it up. You can use one of these LEDs. Or you use 4 LEDs with 3 Watt, one in each corner. Or you use many small LEDs (5mm), 20 above and 20 below the sign.

  • @Orikson2 so i can use 1 of this one to light the whole thing ? my boss did not tell me howmuch u he wants them to be on, but i geuss the whole night, but as soon as i call him ill reply !! thank you for the reply, eprisiated !! =) ill like and sunbribe !

  • @pavilion655 do you need any high power led??? 1-100w high power led???

  • hi, this led need a resistor??, or this led is conect to 12V directly ???

    greeting

  • I actually connected this directly to a 12 volt lipo, hehe. That was really stupid and the led got super hot (I couldnt touch it for a few minutes). Its still running but I guess I might have damaged it a bit.

  • @ 0:23 bricks of cocaine?? lol

  • I wonder if this is bright enough to be used in a DIY projector ?

  • @madmax2069 I guess so, check this: /watch?v=1yJhftcXm8Q

  • @madmax2069 We rank 81th in 2010 China Led lighting TOP 100. We manufacture 1-100w high power led or smd 5050 & 3528 in competitive price and good quality. Hope to cooperate.

  • @madmax2069 i would go brighter. get a high quality xml u2 or xml t6. or a cree easywhite

  • what is the background music?

  • We need those on firetrucks and ambulances ;D

  • lol what camera u using? its acting pritty same like mine xD

  • What's the name of this Song??

  • hey, I was wondering if I could have gotten one of these 10w leds that are 12v and put them in my car, but I have read some comments about it melting and stuff so would it be possible? and if so how? like resistors or something, would appreciate it if you could help me out

  • @username112256 it would be possible, but it's not that easy. It's because the voltage in a car can be anything between 11,5 V and 14,3 V. Also you have some ugly voltage peaks up tu +-100V. So you need a constant current source (eg. with the LM317), but this can't fix the peaks. You can give it a try, but I can't promise, how long it will work...

  • @Orikson2 allright man thatks for the detailed reply.

  • @Orikson2 zener diode maybe ?

or a galvanic element with a condenser might get at peaks...

  • @Orikson2 connect 16V capacitors or a neon lamp in parallel with the alternator (the source or the spikes) but leds hate the heat they produce ind without a large heat sink literally burn themselves out.

  • @Orikson2 So, do 12volt LED car bulbs have some sort of current regulator built into them?

  • @Orikson2 +/- 100v on an alternator? Dude! You need to get your car checked! An alternator has an excellent voltage regulator on it which will deliver a very constant voltage. Yes, the upper limit is around 14.5v, but where did you hear about +100v? Could you imagine what would happen to your stereo, GPS, airbag system, dash board etc if there was 114v going into it?

  • @username112256 fit a second bat run them of that?

  • @MrLunithy That would be possible, but only if you don't connect this battery to the rest of your power in your car! So you have to take out the battery to recharge it ... not the best way ;-P Try it with a LM317 and some cheap 3W LEDs, maybe it'll work for a long time...

  • @Orikson2 Yeah so if you had the second isolated and charge in car with a cheap solar? maybe

  • @MrLunithy When the sun is shining, no problem ;-p

  • @MrLunithy This is a hugely expensive thing to do just to run an LED light! What's the requirements for it? Why would you spend hundreds of dollars to run an LED light?

You can buy very good 12v filters from various place which will give you a stable 12v from a car. This would be MUCH cheaper than fitting a second battery, isolator and a solar panel (i'm going add LOL to this because I did when I read it)

  • @GitarStu bat in oz $90 CHEAP solar panel $50 I did not say hook it up to the car loom so wtf do u need a isolation relay for? lol

  • @username112256 Just add in a voltage regulator, that way you wont peak over 12V - easy problem sorted

  • @username112256

A diode will current regulate with voltage cutoff. That means current intake scales with voltage. You could test the light on a D/C supply and see what it draws at 14.4V for amperage. If it pulls too much it will blow. If not, it will work. Pretty simple.

  • thx for sharing

  • where can you get these lights?

  • The led can reach the 60 degres or more? or is just the environment in which it must work?

  • @saulabello NO!! LEDs must not get hotter than 60°C or they will die pretty fast! But every high power LED WILL get hotter than 60°C it you don't cool it propper!! Sorry, but this are the basics of LEDs!

  • is it light enough to use in a bathroom or some other small room?

  • @wytis If you have no problem with the cold white light I would say yes! Otherwise there should also be some warm white versions available

  • Mnogu ti e jako cergicevo od kaj go imas kupeno?

  • creative to made video!

  • wow

  • only 700 lumen at 12v? damn not enough. gonna have to go with the 20 or 50 watt ones.BE A LITTLE BIT FUCKING NICER TO YOUR VIEWERS PAL!

  • how many lumens does this put out,im considering using it in a DIY projector if it can do 2 to 3000 lumen this thing would be perfect,,WHERE DO YOU GET THEM AND HOW MUCH???

  • @KeithWasHere1 Read the fucking description!

  • @Orikson2 the name of this music track?

  • @KeithWasHere1 i used to work at a sign company and they had some that would blind you they where so bright also they heated up enough to burn straight through 1/2" plexiglass!

  • @watchforfinger do you know what they were? and perhaps how expensive they were, you've given me a great idea, lots of sign companies where i live, perhaps they might carry this type of led, cause for the life of me i cant find any American sellers for this kind of LED in any of the wattage's. thanks for the info,it is appreciated.

  • @KeithWasHere1 i dont know but they had a metal case and where in series and could run off of a 12volt battery just go to some sign companies and ask them what kind they use sorry i could not help more.

  • where can you get these and high wattage ones in America that dont cost and arm and a leg,.saw some 50 watt and 100 watt LED's on eBay for 80 bucks but there all the way in china (how the hell do you pay for something in china?) are they variable i mean if its rated at like 36 volts and i only need to use it at 12-24v dc can they do that? provided i keep the amps down below say 3 amps? i been struggling to find these in America but so far no joy.any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

  • On at a time. Outdoors for brightness. View of the light itself. Socket.

  • i have 10w leds and now i confused what a heatsink i have to choose for them, can anybody give me example of dimensions for them and photo?

  • lol Good LED and bottom line cam:))

  • SSC P7 is better :)

  • That's a honking big LED :P Go check out the Rebel Star. Comes in 10W and 20W units for 1200 to 2400 Lumens and is *tiny*. Barely 2.5mm by 5mm (surface mount ceramic chip case). Oh, and don't even blink it on without a heatsink. Killed one that way :P

  • oh!

the second "o" schould be an "u", I know that I'm a bad englishpupil...

  • sweet... a cam with manual focos...

    poor guy!

  • @einHOCHaufWISEGUYS Falsch, automatischer Fokus, aber die Cam kommt mit dem Licht nicht klar ... ;-P

  • like 800 Lm i think

  • Warm and powerfull this led.

Tell me: what the name of the music?

    Thanks and regard

  • were did u get it?

  • this led can do more...

the crappy power supply cant provide enought power for the led...

    12v*0.85A = 10.2 watts...

this one runs at 9 volt so

    9V*0.85A = 7.65 watts....

  • It lights as a supernova :)

  • +1 for the handy FAQ in the video description, which will save countless noob questions in the comments. Plus, great video of course!

  • 800mA!!!!!!! 50mA+ could kill a person....

  • @Manmax75

50ma at hundreds of volts could kill. 12v at 800ma won't do anything. Its a combination of volts and amps. Flashlights easily drain more than 50ma, its the voltage that kills also.

  • @Manmax75 not at that voltage :)

  • Awesome bit of kit... how long before these take over as car headlights? they are slowly getting brighter and brighter and think of the energy savings of an all LED lit house... i think it is just the initial outlay thats abit of a downer however that should equal itself out over 6 to 8 thousand life span.

  • @ JImbob3514: the first thing that has to be done is to make them a bit more efficient: for now. Only spotlike lights can be achieved with LED's, but for 'all-around' lighting, LED's arent strong enough yet to my opinion: they can probably replace a 40 Watt lamp, but the amount of heat produced by a numer of 3 or 5 Watt LED's is huge, and that's the biggest problem so far.

  • hola de cuantas mcd es? ypara que lo esta utilizando?

viene algun difusor deluz para hacerla mas potente?por favor espero su respuesta

  • Two Questions

    How hot does it get?

Can it be powered by any 12v power supply with around one amp? I know they sell driver for these things but I was thinking about trying to get away with using 12 volt adapter that is rated at one amp.

  • Never mind on the hot question I see it was answered in an old comment.

  • LEDs are normaly powered with an constant current source! Just google for it! 12V power supplys should work, but aren't the best way!

  • Thanks! I guess that is what those drivers they sell provide.

  • Right!

  • wow, Road lamp should use that!

  • WOW, that thing is wicked bright for only 10 watts !!!!!

  • shame your video and focus skills are so poor...

  • @causticblog Yeah, shame on my cam... If you want to buy me a better one, tell me ;-P

  • Wow!! so why don't they make household lights led instead of those CFLs with mecury in them????

  • cuz am searching for super IR led !

  • Ok thx i thought it's IR led ! thxz for reply guys :)....

  • can you see that led light in your own eye or just the cam ?

  • What do you mean exactly? You must not look into the LED at full power, it will burn your retina!

  • @Orikson2 He probabily mean, if is a InfraRed led, .... Yes, you can see the light, because the led is generating white light, not IR

  • Can you compare the brightness of this 10W LED to an incandescent light bulb?

  • back in the love (dave armstrong and david rubato remix) - spencer and hill

  • so what would happen if you slapped a culminating lens in front of it?(such as the type in laser pointers)

  • @turtlemann14 check this out /watch?v=1yJhftcXm8Q

  • @turtlemann14 lasers don't need collimating lenses, yes it's collimating not culminating, culminate has a completely different meaning, fyi

  • 800mA is really low Amperage for this amount of light ..... It is much more better than halogen bulbs ( running at 12V with 3.3 A) ...It is really big difference ... ..but..Still P think, halogen has got a native colour of light (sunlight is not totally white ) ...I hope it will be made in "sun "color soon:)

  • well not in the morning or evening but else Sun is the pretty much the definition of white light, how could be something more white under sunlight? if you think it's yellow, that's just contrast with blue sky (yellow and blue are complementar colors)

  • ya ...but ...Sun is included to Yellow Stars ...not white ... sun is yellow shining object ... So, I cannot explain it another way .. but I think it is yellow.. (rhis information you can find it everywhere ) ...,that "white" colours is imaginary and exactly that is caused by contrasts and eye sensitivity

  • Sun's own intrinsic color is white (aside from sunspots), with no trace of color, and closely approximates a black body of 5780 K (see color temperature). This is a natural consequence of the evolution of our optical senses: the response curve that maximizes the overall efficiency against solar illumination will by definition perceive the Sun as white. The sun is known as a G type star. (from Wiki)

  • What's the name of that song??? thanks

  • Great video!!!

  • My donkey has cruise control and is turbo charged :)

  • Are these 10w, 1w LED's available at shops to buy?

  • Nice cluster led...10W its a lot of power! Really this thing can operate under 60°? Nice one!

  • Don't missunderstand me: It WILL get hotter that 60°C if you don't cool it! But I must not get hotter than 60°C! That will kill the LED!

  • i want one as my dome light!!!

  • mmh, thats because 60 watt is higher than 10 watt moron

  • OMG! XD

  • What temp does it run normally?

  • As cold as possible ;-P The maximal temperatur should be under 60°C

  • Well what I should of asked is, can it run without external cooling or heatsinks?

  • No. If you don't cool it, it will die in seconds!

  • Widzę, że power jest z tej diody niesamowity... Mam zamiar kupić taką diodę + soczewkę od Ksenonowego reflektora i użyć jej w swoim motorze jako świateł dziennych ;)

  • What's the song plz ??

  • does it still work or burn out?

  • 10waths ??? tu les a trouver ou?

  • nice multimeter!

  • Good

  • does it brighter than 30 watts bulb. im planning to buy it for my motobike's head light. is it brighter like ssc p7 or 68 led smds. seller writes 600 lumens. 600 lumens is equals to 40 watts bulb. could you help me please

  • I got mine from eBay, the shop name is eylane.

  • where did you get the led

  • I have the same question as jpsmtm

    This light looks sweet

  • Good work, Where do I buy it and how much
