  • Good lord....you guys that respond to these ignorant racist comments are empowering the ones that post them in the first place. Ignore them and they will have to go out and expose their stupidity in public or crawl back in the hole from whence they came!

  • My uncle met Waylon & he had a nice lil conversation! HES LUCKY!

  • @MTAHawkboy Dang 4 real? Hes dam lucky den

  • @TheJR1280 Yeah. I don't know if it was at a concert, or what, but he sure as hell did.

  • Dolly did a good version for a woman even Frijid Pink did a cover didn't say it was good. But I agree Waylon 's was great

  • I love Waylon so much and appreciate that he did a cover of this song, but i must say that the Animals version is much better.

  • 3 people are modern "country stars" with no nut sack

  • Now THIS is country grit. Country passion at its finest dammit.

  • omg finally a version i can believe.. the song of a southern city sung with conviction by a true southerner..... yankees/brits just don't understand i guess lol

  • i love alot of older music, but waylon has been my favorite artist for years. he had something about him that nobody has had since.

  • Waylon's awsome. another great version is from Leslie West's Got Blooze cd.

  • I love this re adapt of this song. Waylon's voice sounds as if he is a messenger of death.

  • I really think Waylon has the most recognizable guitar in all country music.

  • @scarface2891 You are a disgusting piece of crapp.go hang your self

  • @rajulyra What the hell are you talking about? Are you off your meds or something?

  • @TheTerminator97

What the hell, man?????? We are all the same. One under God. All his children. I pray you have time left to grow and learn.

  • @TheTerminator97 You must truly be lacking in deep historical knowledge or just really angry. the scriptures of christianity have tried to be destroyed time and time again by kingdoms and many powerful men. But each time the love of the scriptures by so many has led to the strongest of peoples including the entire formation of the United States. Christianity is not pacifism at all. The church is just currently confused and much attention is on money. The times coming will cleanse all that.

  • @TheTerminator97 You have just proved something that I was unaware of: the fact that the average KKK/white supremacist/neo-Nazi was actually capable of using a computer.

  • @TheWarriorCoyote I'm sick & tired of the ONLY race being called "supremacist" & "neo-Nazi" is MY race whenever we want to preserve OUR Country, Culture & People. The LaRazas, Blank Panthers, OTHER Black Race Groups, OR Cubans, or any other race in my Country, including Jews...who won't let any race marry or mix with THEIR race in Israel & call every non-Jew beasts, dogs, animals without souls, & insects ad nauseam. But THAT'S ok! Only MY race is allowed to be denigrated! You hyprocrite!

  • @jcrules54733 I shall pray for you r soul, and that the hatred you so obviously have for others shall be removed from your heart.

  • @TheWarriorCoyote Pray for what? That I love my own race like every other race loves their own race? That I want to protect my own race and culture like every other race wants to protect their's? What I presented to you was simple truth and facts. Truth isn't hate. My race is no more "supremacist" than any other race. I'll pray for you that you will quit twisting facts and truth as "hate." Lies and deceit are hate.

  • @jcrules54733 I believe that we will have to agree to disagree on a personal level. I echo the sentiments of nosajtenneb.

  • @TheTerminator97 Are you Aryan?

  • Gotta love him... House of the Rising Sun has been my favorite... for what?

40 years?... This is my favorite version. That says a lot for my respect for Waylon.

  • Gotta love him...

  • never even knew he sang this!!!made my year. And love to New Orleans....

  • Wish someone would please repost ; DELIA'S GONE sung on Hee Haw . Sounds very similar to this!

  • love you hoss always!!!!

  • This is an amazing version and I'm thrilled to have come across it. Think I'm gonna have to say I like this better than The Animals, more haunting and soulful.

  • This is my first time hearing this version.... Waylon mixes charm with a touch of sadness, in a truly warm voice... the result : a tremendously beautiful gift to us.... thank you doc5446 for sharing it with us!

  • this is by far my faveriote version of the song

waylon jennings is my faveriote singer of all time follwed by johnny cash

  • Why did you ruin this great song with images of Katrina?

Nashville just flooded like New Orleans did, but it didn't get news coverage.... Why? Because the white people in Nashville can't blame the "man"...

  • awesome! awesome! awesome! Have always felt this is the best version of this song period.... Waylon is the man. I'm sad he is gone. But cherish what he left.

  • I have an old Waylon album. The name of the album I can't remember. On this album this song is called The Real House of The Rising Sun. Does anyone know the album?

  • 2002 I can't believe it's been that long since

We list one of the greatest country legends of all time!

  • Absolutely love this. What a loss when we lost Waylon...

  • Loved his music... and him as man...

  • I am from Kentucky and the real story for this is > The House of the Rising Sun was a Man's Prison and the Death Row

Cells faced the East where the Sun would shine in thru the window in the morning.

Hence the Name > House of the Rising Sun.

  • I don't know if any of you are familiar with Doc Watson, but he also has a good version of this song. I like this one, but the Animals' version really stuck with me.

  • I don't know if any of you are familar with Doc Watson, but he also has a pretty good version of this song. I like this one, but I gotta say the Animals' version stuck with me.

  • waylon u fuckin rock man

  • God damn this song is bad ass.

  • love the song but thanx 4 da vid...........this realy is solid gold..well done doc

  • The imagery of this video doesnt do the song justice...Its a song of a man that went down the wrong path in life, hanging out in houses of ill repute and gambling dens, lamenting his choice. I think you can do better than by showing flood pictures, thats pretty lazy if you want to do the song right.

  • Saw him when i was 17, he was awesome and still like the Animals on this, but Waylon did a good job.

  • Love the pics.... everything from Shooter to Waylon and Buddy Holly

  • This version is really better than the "Ploy Of Oracle" one.

  • This is the best version of this song I've ever heard.

  • You need to listen to the "ANIMALS" version.

  • Sung as only Waylon could sing it!

  • nobody really knows if this song is about a prison or a whore house, there is evidence that points to both! considering that this song was mostly sung by women in the olden days, chances are it is about a whore house! either way, does it matter? just enjoy the version from the legend that is waylon jennings

  • The Geisha brought a higher class of prostitution to the west. Thus the House of the "Rising Sun". That's how i've always interpereted it.

  • AsrudGilberto...it not a song about a whore house it is a song about a prison

  • Is it really?

  • Do you know where i can find other information about this totaly amazing song?

    I´ve tried wikipedia.

    Waylon for God!

  • album is called waylon live

  • i like how you did this video !! great job.

  • Er sorry I may be missing something here but what could the connection between a song about a whorehouse and "Hurricane Katrina" be.

  • New Orleans=Katrina...don't analyze it too much...

  • and im sure they love having a tribute song thats about "a house of ill repute" ..besides katrina wasnt fashionable when you posted this. fail

  • @doc5446 And here I am still not showing any compassion for idiots that refused to leave before the storm all these years later!!!! I live in the Midwest and new about the damn storm over a week before it made landfall so boo-frickin-hoo!!!

  • @jtmarine0831

Lots of good people died down in LA. Show a little respect.

  • he did a version of delias gone to this tune

  • This is one of the best ever songs by Waylon...his voice is sooo powerful and emotional on this! Takes my breath away.

There is NOTHING ordinary about Waylon!

  • Waylon a true outlaw

  • Is it just me or what, but I can not stop listening to Waylon sing this. Simply amazing.

  • It's not just you!!!!..It's Awesome

    I feel the same way!!

  • I agree.

  • No I think Waylon's version is best

  • Good version--but; Animals are the best!

  • as i've said in response to many such comments on youtube....APPLES AND ORANGES....they are two completely different versions. which one is best is a matter of personal taste. music is in the ear of the beholder. Waylon is awesome as were the Animals

  • There's not one artist like him. God bless the South

  • God Bless and Keep Waylon!

    God Preserve the South!

    Deo Vindice!

  • great video and song

  • to bad shooter couldnt follow in his footsteps

  • thats what i was thinkin!!!!

  • In all fairness to Shooter, who could possibly fill the boots of Waylon? The man said it, "He ain't no ordinary dude"

  • Fuck you dusche bag. Shooter will do it his own way. You probly cant fondle your dick like your dady did either.

  • Awesome song! I have this song too!! WAYLON ROCKS!!! thanks for posting this good ol' song, I've try to play this on my acoustic guitar.

  • There is another, different worded, version done by Waylon. I have it in the box set " Destiny's Child". I think that it is a better version, not that Waylon had a bad version of any song.

  • waylon played his street like johnny cash played his <<and someday in heavan you will walk down these streets and here the tunes, marty street, williams street and so on

RIP ALL THE GREATS NOBODY LIVES FOREVER BUT YOU

  • Waylon does this song in his own style like he always did, and he came up with one of the best versions ever of this classic.

One of the greatest songs of all time by a true icon and legend of American music!

WE NEED WAYLON JENNINGS TODAY MORE THAN EVER BEFORE TO GIVE IDIOTS LIKE SIMON COWELL A KICK IN THE ASS!

  • This is one of the main reasons why I love Waylon.NoOne---and I mean Noone can put this much feeling in this song.He is the man.............

  • "He aint no ordinary dude" HELL NO he was WAYLON G-D JENNINGS!!! MOST excellent vid there doc.

  • Glad to see ya got that one, Red...

  • Love that Waylon and his music!

  • This is beautiful! What a voice. Truly one of the best of his great recordings! Wouldn't you love to dance to this? But with him, of course!

  • You can have the dance...I'll be happy drinking a beer with Waylon.

  • But of course! No argument here!

  • @doc5446 sorry...Waylon didnt drink!

  • @doc5446 dude hahahaha that made my day, Hell yea I like Waylon, ehh not sure about dancing with the man. I'm sure he wouldn't a wanted to dance with another fella either lol

  • I'll take the dance and a beer, with him!

  • When I listen to Waylon singing this I get a tingling right down to my toes. I think this is the best version but then I'm bias. Miss the man like crazy.

  • The key is Jimi Hendrix and he sings it like Leadbelly woulda. Man Waylon was a better folk singer than Dylan and no one knows it!!!

  • Great Video, very well put together and i like the way Waylon does this too. ty for sharing

  • this is pretty badass idk where u found this song
