This movie is utter garbage. David Lynch is a hack who is good at fooling hipsters into beleiving that there are deep hidden meanings in his films. He throws a bunch of nonsensical shit together and then laughs at all the people who try and interpret it. I will say that the elephant man was great, and that Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart were well done. Everything else he's done seems like a college midterm project, fuck David Lynch in his pretentious ear.

I think the whole movie is just trying to express free floating anxiety and fear. no matter how hard you try to understand what is going on, you cant which makes us anxious.  David Lynch was all about this like in Blue Velvet where the insane sadist foreign world seeps into the manufactured heaven of the suburbs. the invasion of foreign thoughts and feelings in our small realities.
