We differ in terms of what is respect. No one will get hurt if someone doesn't say the pledge. The flag is a symbol. Someone can pledge to the flag, but that is not a promise they will help you, respect you, or protect you. Even the most bumbling idiots can pledge their alliance to a piece of cloth. Someone can pledge to the flag, but that is not a promise they will help you, respect you, or protect you. Even the most bumbling idiots can pledge their alliance to a piece of cloth. Obama's refusal to wear the pin would not be disturbing in itself. But when looked at combined with many of his other actions both past and present it DOES paint a picture of what the man is about. I agree with MLGDETOXX: You are an idiot. Obama refuses to wear the lapel pin because he considers the practice to be a cheap substitute for true patriotism. Good for him! I applaud his courage as do many others. If you want to delude yourself into thinking he's got a problem with the American flag, then you're just refusing to understand and we don't need people like you in our country in the first place.

That is sad, and to think he is trying to say it is a cheap way of representing your country.
It's no the price of the pin nor the size, it is the meaning and character of wearing it with pride. It was based on the 9/11 attack. 'I bet he was taking it off to make a statement?!?!?!?' A statement for the Muslim extremists.

I do applaud his courage, yes, for taking off "an American pin" from his lapel. I'm glad we have a candidate willing to stand up to convention and point out that patriotism is not defined by some cheap bauble you wear on your jacket.

Banghouse, I would be really interested in knowing who your candidate is. For someone who's heart isn't set on Obama you sure deffend the man quite a bit, even though you obviously know very little about him. If I were to vote Democrat, I'd choose Hillary over Obama in a heart beat. It's a no brainer!

Let's follow the logic: 1. Obama fails to follow Anthem/Pledge etiquette. 2. Obama makes a STATEMENT as a Presidential Candidate by refusing to wear the flag pin. 3. Obama's Pastor states that his Church is founded on the principals of a Communist doctrine (ie., Liberation Theology). 4. Socialists in general are loathe to honor any symbols of a Capitalist society. 5. In any great empire, the fall comes from within. Do I have to draw a picture too?

How do I know Obama's Church was founded on the principals of Liberation Theology? You need not go far my friend. Type "Hannity argues with Obama's Pastor" on the youtube search engine. For an even more "enlightening" source. You can actually hear Obama's Pastor's message. Type "Rev Jeremiah Wright's Message," and see what comes up. Another interesting youtube source is this one: "Barack Obama's Church." They changed their website recently. Slick!

He doesn't observe the correct etiquette during the National Anthem/Pledge either. Obama is not a regular citizen like you and I. He is a PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE running for the Oval Office. It stands for a person's (particularly a person in power) remembrance and respect for their country and those defending it abroad. But I wouldn't expect Colmes or Ferraro to understand this.
