I think it has something to do with the Ampulae of Lorentzini (electro receptors on the shark) As from my experience, this trick works better with sharks that have well developed amulae, such as whalers, tigers, GWS, Makos etc. Things like Nurse sharks and leopard sharks it hardly works on.... wobbygongs- not at all
