  • Exactly what mod(s) did you do to the PS2?

  • my ps2 phat does not detecting my hdd through hdl.... where´s problem ??

  • My ps2 is not detecting HDD. It says "HDLoader could not detect a hard disk drive connected to your PS2. Please ensuer that you have connected a hard disk drive according to the instructions found in the manual and on the HDLoader website. Please visit hdloader.com or consult your manual for more information"

    I have ps2 v39000

    Hdloader v8.0c

Two seagate HDD 20 gb and 40 gb both compatible with hd loader and both working fine with winhiip.

What could be the problem ?

  • @RiderYZFR1 and yes i a'int using any memcard as the older one is corrupted and i have no other memcard to use right now.

  • Huh, I never knew that PS2 could be equiped with a HDD.

  • Is 40 gb good enough because that is the only hard drive that I have

  • @le9it9amer Yes,that's more than enough.

  • i never knew what that big ass hole was used for when i had this as a kid so i used to hide my money in it

  • Salstavern, if I get a 200gb hdd will this enable me to rip games of of the disk and save them to the hdd? I just happen to have a fat boy with a network adapter.

  • @PeppersOnChili the HD was ment for installing Linux to your ps2 and going online. But if you got a ps2 HD a one with the ps2 symbol on the label it usually comes with a disc that formats it to the PS2 format. From there you can save games to it.

  • what can the hdd be used for? what is i use a 40gb hhd?

  • I keep meaning to do this, I have a memory card with mcfreeboot ready to go, just haven't gotten a network adapter yet!

  • i have 250 gb hard disk drive can i use it ? i took it from my pc

  • @kajimusha as long as it fits into the Sony PS2 Network Adapter.

  • Comment removed

  • how about ps2 scph-75006 model??

  • @daznugal92 you'd have to use a USB HDD

  • I had the network adapter back when I had my ps2, I always thought the hard drive was a thing you bought from sony, not just a regular drive!

What is the largest you can use?

  • @gratsoy i'm not sure...

  • Do i need a modchip

  • @drpapi444 well, you need to access a PS2 that is already modded to do this...I was lucky to access to friend's old modded ps2 to create the exploited card

  • What if I just want to use a HDD as Memory and not modding and backups. Could I simply slide a clean HDD in. And will I still need a memory card

  • @callofdutyguy9 no try it doesnt work because its mostly used for backup files and some games and most for the internet

  • Up to what size hd will ps2 reconize?

  • @mrbloopisagod 40gb

  • Can i do this at a Slimline ps2?

  • @jvaleza27 Nope, you can do this only on FAT ps2 versions. But you could buy an externald hard drive and play games on your ps2 via USB.

  • what kind of hard drive did you install to your ps2 console? is a pc hard drive compatible to ps2?

  • @vumpirekizz Any internal PATA hard drive, otherwise known as IDE. Not a SATA hard drive. He used a 200gigabyte one but you could easily use a 40 gigabyte one or some capacity inbetween. 120 gig or 160 gig are quite commonplace. Remeber to get PATA (IDE) and not sata. Any brand. It doesn't matter. Nor does it matter the amount of cache on the hard drive (normally 2meg or 8meg for pata ide). So 8 meg is a bit faster but you really wouldnt notice the speed increase on a playstation2.

  • @TableWolfMusic thanks for the information. :)

  • lol look at the description

    "2.Phat PS2" hahaha XD

  • Yes im not to sure how to..

Also is tjere a way to use a sata drive witj converter piece?

    Thanks

  • And with mc do i still need flash drive?

  • @SalsTavern can i still get a memory card?

  • @mrbloopisagod

The memory card can be done yourself, still need help?

  • Can you boot games from the hard drive without having the cd once copied.

  • @sargentjaskaran

yes, the games are accessed at the touch of controller buttons. Thats the point of the harddrive.

  • je je amigo te vendo unos destornilladores tipo plano XD

  • what exactly is the hard drive you are using.

  • Why would you do this exactly?

  • @LOLKing156 if you get a modded memory card, you can install iso's on the harddrive and play them with open ps2 loader :)

  • @LOLKing156

to make da games run faster and stores the games on harddrive, so the discs can be stored away and rarely touched. Access all games at the touch of controller buttons.

  • @LOLKing156

memory card mod can be done yourself.

  • @LOLKing156

You can use it to preload certain games like ffx to reduce loading time. You can also run linux off it

  • @LOLKing156 the reason you'd do this si to play burned copys of your games (Bakcups) so you dont have to risk destroying the disk by using it. you can also install roms and emulators and run them as well.

  • @LOLKing156 more memory

  • Can you install any game on PS2 hardrive? And can you play online without a disc? Also, do you know if this method can be used to play Final Fantasy 11, or do you need an official HDD for FF11?

  • If i have a.hard modded (chipped ) ps2 do i.need the exploited mempry card? Thanks.for aany help in advance

  • uhm... how could you transfer videos from games saved in the memory card to a USB?

  • Memory File Transfer: modchip*.us or Canada modchip*.ca

  • What can u do with the hard drive?

  • @RAMPERTAB1 to play iso! we can play any games like psp

  • @RAMPERTAB1 save ur games on the hard drive, load up ur games on the hard drive and load up games faster then playing cd

  • please help why my usb 8gb can not read of my ps2 what kind of usb i needed pls help

  • @darkie21o make sure your USB is formatted to FAT32 (on the computer)

  • @metaldra900n yeah i formatt it fo FAT32 but nothing happen its same can u tell me what kind of usb you use thks

  • @darkie21o well i use a Toshiba 4GB USB Formatted FAT32 but it's not gonna make a difference maybe your ps2 USB port is broken or dusty try cleaning it or something

  • @metaldra900n ah thxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxks a lot

  • 3.200 GB!!!!

    WTF?!

  • hey. how can i access the files on the hdd of my ps2? i want to access it thru PC. may you know how can i do that??

  • usb 3.5 IDE PATA enclosure you`ll need to transfer.

  • Can i install pc hdd on ps2 please replay

  • @RedSwordKing yes but it needs to be a old hard drive not sata hard drive :)

  • if anyone is interested i have a sony playstation 2 network adapter for sale on ebay please take a look thanks .ebay.co.uk/itm/300598246325?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

  • the original ps2 could install games to a hdd and make the games load screen go by faster.....WHY IS THAT OPTION NOT ON THE PS3!!!I mean it works very well on the xbox 360.

  • When u mean Hard drive...U mean the HDD where u can find in ur desktops?

  • @LordKamina100

    Yes, 3.5 IDE PATA.

  • @CrewRite Thx

  • @LordKamina100 yes.

  • @lolcat360 Thank.:D

  • Oh. I have a HDD/Ethernet adapter. a 20 gb HDD. a memory stick. a clean memory card. Someone told me the HDD installed in the PS2 can be used as a large memory card, or save some games like back ups in. I dont really understand. I installed the HDD in but nothing happen. I got a memory stick later but i need to install the HDD. How does it work I been reading this but I dont see how it works.

  • thanks for fucken nothin!!!

  • and i forgot to mention that it's a fat ps2.

  • @fIykiddown

Fat+Network Adapter will work, not slim though.

  • i have a network adapter and a 300gb hd attached to it. Do i need a modchip to play games off of the hd?

  • Error, try again, errrg, YOUTUBE!!!

  • Eh.. Where could I buy a PS2 compatible hard drive and the network adapter? Thanks!

  • @1Koakuma1 Doesnt have to be a PS2 compatible HDD. I think it can be any HDD as long as it can be fit in the adapter. I bought mine from a friend. and when I plug in it didnt show. yes my ps3 is a ver 9

  • @1Koakuma1 Ebay. Thats where I got mine. Probably the best hard drive you can get is a DiamondMax drive. Best one in particular would likely be the 6H500R0 model HDD. That is what I run on. 500GB HDD. Over 120 games on it, fits, and runs faster and quieter then any other HDD I've tried on PS2 thus far.

  • @1Koakuma1 OH, and, before you rush out to buy the HDD.. make sure your PC can connect IDE to it. If not, you might want to get a IDE to USB connecter. Usually they are cheap, and def a good investment.

  • @Zalibidas FFFFFFFFFFFFFF---- *melts*

    Sony. y u do dis.

  • @1Koakuma1 Lol, Sony never intended for people to start running games off the HDD like this. All they had in store for the HDD was minor game content adds and FF11. It was the community that took it a bit further. :P

  • @1Koakuma1

    melts?

  • @CrewRite yeah i melted cause I'm all sadface

  • @1Koakuma1

    Something broke?

  • @jowrab

    Very true.

  • how did u boot ulaunch?

  • hi to all gamer and thankz free mcboot. U make us feel happy with p s 2. Shout me via +233242389251

  • How many games would last on a 8 mb memory card?

  • @jfetherboy

You can't even store 1 game on 8mb. 1mb, 8mb, 16mb... they are only meant for smaller files, like game saves. Between 20gb and 500gb, I would suggest for saving the actual games themselves. Loading times are snappy once their on a HardDrive (not Memory Card).

  • does it matter what elf file i use

  • Hello, my PS2 lens went dead and stopped reading games, over where i live it'd be expensive to replace it, so i was thinking if i could rip my games on my computer and with the HDD plugged into my pc, just transfer the isos, without needing to replace the lens? thanks

  • i fallowed both tutorials made cd out files oon usb and tryed 2 of my hard drives it starts up for 10 seconds then goes back to browser and system configuration ive tryed and trryes with my dad nothing works plz help me!!!!!

  • @m70b1jr

How did you go about burning the discs?

  • @CrewRite i put ulauch on disk easy BUT WONT WORK HEEELLLPPP

  • @CrewRite i have netowrk adapter and hard drive connected and in tightly in bay but it just wont reconize my hard drive i tryd 2 of my hard drives but it still has a long start up 8 seconds

  • @CrewRite i put ulauch on there but still wont work it wont reconize hard drive i tryed 2 of them just goes to browser and sysem config

  • @m70b1jr

No need to shout, I understand Sony and Microsoft are annoying companies.

You'll need to burn them as ISO Image, not data. If you don't have burning software, Ashampoo Burning 2010 can be found on SoftPedia.

Only report about Ashampoo, is that it may send spam mail. Make sure to UnSelect anything you don't want installed. Otherwise the program is safe.

  • @CrewRite well i dont know how to burn a iso image xD

  • @CrewRite and why would i burn as an image?

  • Because, if you don't , it won't work period. You just go to the section that has ISO and/or Image in the burning software and select the file you want to burn.

ISO is bootable at PS2 startup, Data is just to view a file.

Windows Installation uses ISO to Install on your PC during bootup. Similar idea.

  • @CrewRite still dont get it

  • @CrewRite and plz sub to me im gonna make a youtube vid on my problem

  • @CrewRite dad wont let me use camcorder :-(

  • Forgot to say you should call yur uncle up and see if he knows.

  • oh in my other comment i ment he had the hard drive in ps2 but years later it broke :-( but all he did was used network adaptar and hard drive and it worked HHHEEELLLPP

  • will it work with out the exploit memory card i need help my uncle had a ps2 but it broke he just used a computter hard drive and put it in it worked thats not the case with me i dont wat to download any thing i just want to use hard drive PLEASE HELP/RESPOND

  • Network adapters normally come with install discs. You may need the install disc.

The only other way I know of, is using sksapps*.com , unless you don't mind spending money on HDloader.

sks apps is safe, according to 91 people.

  • @CrewRite well i got mine from my uncle his didnt come with install disk i just want to put in my hard drive and netowrk adpater and and be able to save games on there

  • (Fitting any Hard Drive on the Network adapter)

    TorX:

    T-5 = didn't work

    T-6 = worked

T-7 = only works on good condition screws

  • can i use a usb flash drive as HDD and use my Ps2 Slim? :)

  • @casper06050605

Yes, but won't be as fast. But, since Slim was only manufactured with external options, that's fine.

    check sksapps*.com

  • @CrewRite Thx :)

  • @casper06050605

    No prob. :D

  • 3.5 SATA to IDE adapter is needed for those that like SATA.

  • @CrewRite ok there is no such thing IDE and SATA use different drivers altogether

SCPH-30001 200gb barracuda and of course FMCB

  • Comment removed

  • What do you think a 3.5 SATA to 3.5 IDE converter is?

    Worked for me.

  • Flat head screw drivers in some cases will pop the power socket out. Instead of wasting money on TorX.

  • If your HardDrive doesn't fit. You'll need either a HardDrive that fits or do a simple mod on the PS2 Network Add-On.

For the mod you will need *Philips Regular Size, Philips #0 Size screw drivers and either a T-7 or T-6 TorX screw driver.

Once inside, just Undo the power socket (the thing sticking out, with 4-holes). Now you should be able to attach any HardDrive. You may be able to put the plate back in place after power socket is loose.

  • How do i make the usb stick & exploited mem card. or where can i buy it

  • As mentioned in his description. sksapps*.com has all the tools you need.

If your nice to user SalsTavern, he may program your own blank memory card. He charges $20 in Ontario.

You would send $20 and a blank ps2 memory card by mail.

You can get usb sticks (Flash Drives, the correct term) at any electronic or computer store.

The exploited ps2 memory card is the hard part. Than you need a PS2 Memory Card to Computer (PC or LapTop) Usb Adapter or a PS2 Memory Card to PS3 system usb Adapter.

  • @JPtv3000 dont listent to crewrite ust get a gameshark disc and a magigcgate or datell card a usb stick with noobie package and follow instructions on sksapps...although a DMS3 is a better choice...since your asking this i think its better you stick with software exploits

  • @xLDKxClan

    Whatever works, dude.

  • AWESOME!

  • where i come from finding an ide harddrive it's like claiming you saw a flaming dragon

  • @xelbaga1987

Where my friend comes from, finding a SATA and IDE is like claiming you saw a flaming dragon.

  • I had the Old ps2 model but it crashed now i have the "thin" model.

  • can it work with 80gb hdd ???

  • @HGAMES69

*500gb and below* has been reported as *working*. 80gb and *any other sizes below 500gb* should work.

I CAN'T confirm that sizes ABOVE 500gb will work, such as 640gb and so, on. The worst that could happen is PS2 not detecting the full drive or not seeing the drive at all.

  • Sooo, if a Slim PS2 is a Nissan (Flaming Death Traps). Then who gets da Subaru? The Phat PS2 is the safe Subaru.

"Who Gets Da Subaru" - Andy Bauman

  • @SalsTavern it does 1080i in GT4

  • Yes FAT PS2's dominate all, especially the silver ps2 model, a "Silver FAT PS2 model 50002a" is like the Nissan Skyline R32 of the console world, considering all the awsome games for ps2, i mean, i have Wii,360,PS2,PS1,PC,N64, blah blah blah but PS2 is the best because of the variety of games. Grahpics arent everything people - gameplay is what makes games good not GFX.

  • This is what i use to have 5 years ago, 2.5" 160GB IDE Internal HDD with a 50002a Black PS2 with Matrix Infinity Mod Chip(firmware upgradable) and HD advance software, its funny how kids are only just catching on with modifications and emulations when its been around for along time.. its very anoying when you go to a gamestore and store clerk trys to think that im just another "NOOB" customer, thats when i unleash like Sheldon from big bang theory, you aint a gamer till youve done mods.

  • @ShakaSamurai

    Haha, I like you. :)

I modded my fat PS2 in 2001, so it's over 10 years old and still works like a charm. (charms don't fucking work though, what a stupid expression). I'm not keen on buying a network adapter to attach an HDD as I've read such was necessary? Maybe you know of an alternative way I thought.

  • hey guys ! I have a PS2 slime version can I hook up somehow the hard drive like shown on this video??

and another question is .... I need to use original cd to play a game and those cds cost a lot, is it possible to store every game on this hard drive and when I want to, to just load the game if its copied game?

    pls answer thx

  • @selmirrr There is no Expansion Bay in a Slim PS2, in order for you to have a HDD for your Slim, you must use an " external 2.5" USB HDD " you must also have the DVD HDD software that is compatible with the PS2 Slim and the HDD you are using! There should be some software out there called "HD Advance" that allows you to do this, But you have to get the "Slim HD Advance", you should research more before you digg a hole, some HDDs are not compatible.

  • The laser lens have to be working?

  • ROCK! 0:47

  • @SalsTavern yes ps2 supports 480p even 1080i....i think your just playing it on a older tv..!

  • @SalsTavern ps2 supports 480p...even 1080i....know your stuff first

  • @00patrickstar00 lol, okay okay...there are several games that support 480p and 3 games that support 1080i but you do need component video cables for progressive scan mode. there's the official word!

  • @SalsTavern hahhhaa.....lol...iight..haha

  • Which version of HDLoader do I get? There's ALOT of choices on the link.

  • @animeman84 use HDLoader 8C - ELF...the ELF file can be launched using ULaunch...

  • @SalsTavern wait scene the hard drive is in the ps2 how do I connect it to the computer to put the games?

  • Just another way your mother won't find your porn videos :p.

    Worked for me...

  • @SalsTavern actually it does, with a component cable and some games. it even does 1080i in gt4

  • so with this you can download ps2 games and put them on the harddrive and play them?

  • @flexer122 i have to revisit this playing games off hard drive...i don't know if it's compatible with PS2 Slims

  • @SalsTavern oh cool thanks

  • @SalsTavern Gran Turismo 4 does 480p & can even do 1080p (upscaled ofcourse!)
