This brought me back to the days I ran a BBS using wildcat! Ever heard of it . I rana bbs for 3 years when a 2nd phone line only cost 12bucks Man those were the days.
I was in the NAVY at the time on submarines for 7 years then got out full honorable discharge. I was a IC2 (SS) E5
When I started BBSing with my 1660 modem in 1986, I called manually, waited for the signal, hit connect and then manually hung up the phone. I probably lost some hearing doing that, :) I think I started with Darkterm.
Wierd watching you put in an IP addy after the ATDT command! Amazing, its been at least sixteen years (?!) since ive had to type that in a terminal but I remembered the command right away. I would like to see an xmodem download using the full speed of a typical broadband connection!
You're a terrible person for putting that terrible music on the video.

Nice picture of James Hunt (probably from his 1976 championship year).
The first melody is Kraftwerk's "The Telephone Call".

For some reason when it doesn't let me type in terminal mode on ttgreen, Any help??
modman1234567 10 months ago
@modman1234567
You need to set "Echo on" - dunno how it works using ttgreen (on default settings I had no problems typing)
Perhaps you should use another terminal prg (with echo on) - mabye your other (emu) setting are not correct?

The first time I saw a 300 baud modem is when I was in 6th grade. Woah this video brings back childhood memories!

@OBSysteme
To use your C64 modem you need a dial up BBS - like the Tornado BBS in Hamburg - have a look at my dial up 300 baud C64 clip.
Jamming Signal ist telnet only

I used to love playing Jump Man on my C64--of course that was back in the early 80's!! Can it be??

This video gives the false impression that the commodore could multitask Online and music at the same time. In reality it was a silent process
.
harleykman 1 year ago 9
@harleykman
Yes it was - but this is a Vice-Emu-Session running XP. I hope this video gives also not the false impression that you can run WinXp on a C64 ;)
BTW: Using interrupts it might be not impossible to get music during a BBS-Session. Has anyone tried?
quipzz 1 year ago
@quipzz It wouldn't be impossible at all. You just need a client program that was written in such a way that it would play SIDs

The second tune is "Telefax" by Torben Hansen
The first tune is "The Telepone Call" by Per Almered, btw
(Kraftwerk cover of course)
I have both songs on my C64-Story-Pages as background tunes in
the bbs section btw (don't forget to enable java) - you find the link on
this youtube page
