  • Pity about the ding on the front pipes. Did someone lean a ladder on them? Most Conachars I've seen have beautifully stencilled/decorated pipes.

  • It's clear that there was a little bit of stencilling as I can just see some bands if you get the light on the front pipes at the right angle! Regarding the odd dent; the organ was on a balcony with choir pews either side of the organ bench. I would think the odd head, hat or hymn book caused the odd dent 100 plus years ago.

I have to be very careful on organ restoration work not to go 'too far', hence we overhauled the original ivory keyboards rather than have them recovered with plastic

  • The dents COULD be removed, but you can#t see any from the front, only when the light is on a particular angle (as in our camera 1 position!). I don't like to take restorations too far. However, if the eventual purchaser says they'll have the organ if we have the dents removed, then we'll do it. Conversely if a potential buyer doesn't like the ratchet swell pedal, they can stuff & buy from elsewhere! That's original & stays.

  • Hi

Your e-mail seems to be playing up again. Is there something out of tune on the Swell? Nice sound otherwise.

    Tony
