I remember this song off the album "Teases & Dares" which was an incredible album! "Shangri La" she wrote by herself. On the other tracks her brother Ricky Wilde was most of it involved. Also very magical and mysterious song.
It's absurd of Queen Kim to feel she should be insulting her 'Dancing In The Dark' song by saying she should be writing her own stuff and then write the best thing EVER written by a 1st timer and ALSO THEN NOT RELEASE IT-should have been a double A side with 'The Touch! D'oh! I love the fact that Kim did some of the darkest songs for any female singer throughout much of the 80s though no one EVER comments on this. Deaf, dumb or what?!
Absolutely. There's so many songs on the first 4-5 albums that are moody and edgy, but she's largely known only for the commercial stuff. She had a much wider range of material than anyone gives her credit for.
@Surixurient Well, they did. But since this album she got into writing too. This song and "Fit In" she wrote all by herself. Then albums that follwed it was a mix of other writers and her. Some songs she'd write by herself, some she'd co-write with, and some they'd write for her.
i love this song

@FT108 I believe it's the eastern version of Utopia, Garden of Eden or other regions of complete peace/happiness

I think Kim made the music and the lyrics of that beautifull song. Kim is very modest.

@JMCMLXXIX
I thought her father and brother wrote all her stuff. But she had input in the process.

Lovely song. All the more impressive since it was written primarily by Kim rather than Marty or Rick. Many thanks for this.
