The riff in the first 20 seconds remind me of Pestilence. I love finding these "hidden" tracks from my favorite bands. So interesting to see where they came and where they are now.
This is my favorite Cynic song. The same technical playing you would expect from Cynic, with bad ass vocals and a heavier overtone. A remixed/higher quality version would probably make me faint.
hey morbid mayhem...did you have fun cutting and pasting other peoples opinions. too bad that a poser like you would get the chance to have this enter your ears.

I also like Focus as well, but in my opinion their new album isn't better than focus and these demos. I think so because, new album is technical and melodic, but not METAL. It just doesn't sound metal anymore. For me it reminds emo music.
I wish they would have combined this raw power with their new sound and musical capabilities. One track like that on Traced In Air would have been amazing.
yeah i heard the 91 demo, its really sweet. i dont know if its better than "piece of time" though. and i kinda like this stuff more focus too, but everyone i tell that seems to think thats ridiculous. wonder why...........
There's nothing wrong with liking this material over Focus, fuck those people. While Focus is a great album, my favorite songs off of it were The Eagle Nature and Uroboric Forms, which coincidentally are demo material. I am still looking forward to the new album however, should be good if it's like the promo.
i cant wait for the new album any longer, the anticipation is killing me. and The Eagle Nature and Uroboric Forms are my favorite songs too. Though i really like How Could I alot as well
Yeah How Could I and I'm But A Wave To... are probably my favorite original material on Focus. Though all the songs are good. Kinda funny that this band, along with Atheist and Pestilence reformed and are gonna release new albums soon. Maybe there'll be a tour with Tony Choy playing for all 3 bands! haha, if only.
there will be new material, shoud come out in 2009. but I don't think the two bands together, since Kelly Shaefer and Pat Mameli were not in very good terms.

but its cynic
its what u'd expect from cynic
it still has excellent music and song writting.
and focus wasnt really that different
it was jus a lot heavier the song writting is still basicaly the same jus alot more progressed
focus had some parts that remind me of human(uroboric forms etc) but remeber it wasnt long ago that paul was in death
look at the stuff has done since focus
of course its going to sound different
but everybody is entitled to there opinion of course

fuck all the genres in between
i love metal. trust me it changed my life. it will always live within my heart
but it only because its not metal dosent mean its not good
good music is good music
yea i will agree alot of the metal influences are there no more.
MorbidMayhem 3 years ago
This is better than their new album in my opinion.
dolorianfrz 3 years ago
well this was years ago
of course they progressed alloooot more since then.
as much as this is good.
i prefer the more technical cynic
it sounds a lot more refreshing,
this is extremely good tho
but there song writting jus progressed alot more on focus and years later on traced in air

My favorite Cynic offerings...never mind "Focus".You should hear the 1991 demo...it totally obliterates Unquestionable Presence.
