  • Why does everyone in the USA love the British but hate France. France supported the USA in the revolutionary war. Everyone says the french are faggots, but the French had Napolean, have the foreign legion, and Salat. Also they are not pussying out and getting rid of their nuclear reactors like the Germans. Nuclear energy is definately manly. OK, so their record was not too great during WWII, and they did invent table manners (kind of faggy) but overall thier record is good

  • A belt is used for increased abdominal pressure (from the air you breathe in)..also..worst deadlift instruction ever

  • how can they miss out the fact that when you have a 20kg plate either side that the bar is much higher off the floor and its practically impossible to get into that position over the bar when its high off the ground.

you shouldnt use belts either, let your forearms dictate what your deadlift weight is, not your ego.

  • I personaly dont use straps or belts because i have built a strong foundation using free weight compound excercises for years. And by not wearing straps i feel its like a safety mechanism, so you are less likely to hurt yourself because the weight on the bar is limited by your grip, and as my grip strength increased so did my weight on the bar. The spinal erectors and ligamits are given more time to adapt this way. For a one rep max a belt will be beneficial.

  • if your a beginwe and you wana go for like 1 rep max's use a belt if you know the form ect.. you aint gotta use 1

  • don't use a belt, you're better off practicing perfect form. belts are not beneficial, except at extreme high weights

  • what is belt for actually? is it helping somehow or mostly psychological? I'm using straps, helps alot so my back can work more, but I also train the grip mostly without them

  • belts are to provide support to your lower back when lifting heavy weights. the research now shows that using a belt may actually be bad for you. tighten your abdominal muscles, thats the best support you could ever provide for yourself lifting weight

  • hahaha

i do not reccomend you to do it without belt unless you are doing very easy weight

  • Do not use belts. It's better to use your own ab strength to keep intra-abdominal pressure. If you use a belt, you do not really own the weight.

  • Maybe you are talking about some kind of light fitness with low wights i dotn know. Show me anyone in powerlifting/bodybuilding without belt with weights . belt is meant to help your back be straight when you take a deep breath and brace your abs.

  • There are many raw powerlifting competitions where the lifters do not use belts, straps, or anything else to aid them in their lifts. Yuri Spinov squats 914lbs. without a belt. All a belt does is take the work away from your abs. If you want the dealift to truly be a whole body workout, you shouldn't wear a belt or straps.

  • well belt isnt the thing that aids you in results like squat pants and others.. if you got very strong abs then you are right but if a guy hasnt very strong abs and he takes big weight without belt ,his back will be screwed :)

  • Exactly! To make sure you are developing functional everyday strength, you shouldn't use belts. They will make you overconfident, and when one day you go to pick something up heavy deadlift style; *crack* goes your back, or maybe even a hernia. I guess I'm preaching more full-body workouts and functional strength, while your going for PRs. To each his own...

  • "while *you're* going for *big* PRs"

  • "... while *you're* going for *big* PRs."

  • brilliant.thanks.
