this is total crap. I've been taking pills for 4 years now, I'm 20 years of age, study in an university (all the courses are in english, not my native tongue) and I've never ever noticed any problems with my memory or anything else. it all depends on what you believe to, if you think your memory is becoming worse and worse then it apparently does so, just because you think so... you are what you think you are, nothing can change that. except of course, crap like this.
@exrspkingod1 physiologically speaking, the high of marijuana is NOT addictive in the same way that nicotine and heroin are - they activate different centres of the brain. Nicotine/heroin hook into dopamine which is the "reward pathway" that encourages use. Marijuana hooks into the anadamide system which regulates pain and appetite. Psychologically, however, I know many people "addicted" to sugar, the TV show "Lost" or the emotion of self-pity. Those aren't physically addictive however.
Yup, have to listen to the DEA, they will sure tell us the truth, just like weed is a gateway drug and is addictive.....they have no credibility. it's funny the one scientist says it's faulty data....is everything we get from the government faulty, like the Global warming BS? Can it get any more clear to people that we have been lied to by our "caretakers" all our lives? If you use too much of ANYTHING, you will throw out your balance, DUHHHH, just be cool with it.
@blite13 my theory about DEA and law enforcement is that they don't want their guns taken away to be given nurse's smocks when this turns from a criminal problem to a medical problem.
@mycelian no doubt, DEA is big business, it's why they keep it illegal. Look who profits from the "jail business" and who profits from the "courts business"...it's one big racket. Ruining peoples lives mean nothing to these people, as long as the cash keeps rolling in. Look at Afghanistan, the main reason why the "war" is continuous in Afghanistan is for the production of heroin, it has been for centuries. Billions in profit, mostly for the CIA.
@blite13 weed is addictive fool. two of my closest friends smoke every day and say they wish they could quit but they cant motivate themselves enough to stop for more than a couple of days
@ArcticSheep no need to call names to get your point across. Generally when the topic of addiction comes up, they mean physical addiction. Pot is definitely psychologically addictive with regular long term use (that is, we get used to the state and enjoy it mentally and miss it when it's gone) but it's not like heroin or even caffeine where there's physical symptoms like illness or headache as a result of sudden cessation if you're a regular user.
@ArcticSheep tv shows are psychologically addictive (ie: soap operas are a prime example of the style that draws people back week after week, same with reality shows), as are foods that we enjoy more than other foods (ie: sweets or specific candies we prefer), but if your friends took a holiday and were distracted or knew they couldn't get marijuana, they wouldn't withdraw like a heroin user who actually gets physically ill and whose drug use is partially about "feeling normal".
@ArcticSheep your friends are just weak minded. If they had any discipline or strength in their mind, it wouldn't be a problem. They need to learn when to smoke, there are things that need to be done before you smoke, whether it's work, school, family stuff, whatever. There are some people who function well on weed or booze, they are rare. You need to use it with respect, not just getting high the minute you wake up and waste your day away. You have to respect it, it's called maturity.
