Nothing wrong with prohibiting insurance companies from dropping due to pre-existing conditions. But if they are forced to accept new people with pre-existing conditions, explain to me how insurance will work if you needn't make ANY payments into the system ie. buy health insurance when you are healthy and don't use it a lot, until you DO need it, so you purchase a policy and immediately start COSTING the company more money than you ever put in?
@marklross2 Same thing happened in South Africa, they said it was discrimination to turn people down if they had AIDS (which 1/3 of black Africans have (world wide)), this meant health insurance had to accept AIDS patients, and also pay for their medication. Obviously this meant premiums for everyone who didn't have AIDS sky rocketed, and a lot of medication was stripped off the list. Now there is no point in getting insurance unless you do have AIDS.
