Seriously, I'm Latino. Judge me by my merit, not this morally irrelevant fact. If the student population of UC Berkeley doesn't "reflect what California really looks like" that doesn't matter. It's not supposed to. It's supposed to reflect which individuals performed the best and deserve to be there.
the beneficiaries of race and gender conscious affirmative action programs encompass a wide range of communities. Many groups, including white women, Arab Americans, Asian Americans, Latino Americans and Native Americans heavily rely on affirmative action programs in the areas of K-12 education, college and university admissions and financial aid, employment and contracting. With the passage of Proposal 2, all these groups stand to be hurt.
Affirmative action is not done the right way. The idea is to look at and consider more applicants who are diverse. Just hiring someone based on race, gender, or ethnicity lowers the standard for minorities. Keep it simple: Don't hire me because I'm black. Don't turn me down because I am black!
Wow. Minorities really cant compete with whites without some sort of system that allows them to cheat. Maybe if they cream racism loud enough they can cover up the fact that they are not able to get anywhere by merit. The truth is really hard to supress.
I believe everybody should be treated the same, regardless of ethnic origin, religion, sex and race. It is precisely for this reason that I applaud the passing of Proposition 209.
@bigirishbeast90 #1 group who benefits from affrimative action, white women. #2 the husbands of white women... white men... Thanks.

They weren't "anti-diversity referenda." They were pro-equality.
