Its getting exceedingly likely that oxygen will be discovered at some point in the near future. If we find that it means photosynthesis has taken place.
If thats the case it would be pretty obvious that theres life on such a planet since its biochemical processes that fill an atmosphere with oxygen.
No doubt on that day there will be some magic re-interpretation of the bible for creationist sub-intellects that allows for it.
That's ok for your Science teacher. I think that the use of new articles is good for education, and alright actualizes education, because reading the same old books again and again makes Science boring...
