That is a great mask, good job! Could you tint it more though cuz Bioware Tali's was pretty tinted to make sure we don't get the pleasure of seeing Tali's face. Or maybe their doing us a favor if she's ugly..... nah.... :D
This is awesome ^^ I'm a huge fan of Mass Effect and am making a tali costume myself but I am stuck on what kind of material to use for the helmet lense. What medium did you use here? Thank you for your help x
@katlatze not at the time but when it is all done i will cus i am having small tech difacltyes with trying to fine the right disine in the fabrick but it will be done at lates be for me3
@juju2 Hey! It's actually just an LED placed behind some clear blue plastic. We had a "microswitch" which is just a switch that doesn't take much force to press, so that sits beneath my chin and is wired to the LED (with a resistor). You can probably find these at an electronics store!
@seikatsukaguya I did! Thank you so much :D The face shield part is made with a 2-Litre pop bottle that I cut out. I then coloured the OUTSIDE with a purple sharpie (Don't do the inside... you don't wanna inhale that stuff lol), just use big streaks and try to fill in all the spaces - it doesn't even look streaky! The "Metal" parts are typical fun foam (craft foam) that I cut some battle scars into and then painted with silver paint.
Now, the light. I'm running out of comment space LOL
@seikatsukaguya For the light, I put a "microswitch" (easy to press) under my chin, wired it to a 1.5k resistor, a 9-volt battery and a white LED. When my chin presses down on the switch it completes the circuit and the LED lights up. The LED itself is behind a blue piece of plastic and a mini-magnifying glass to make it look like the whole center bit is a light. So much fun! Let me know if you make one too!
@katlatze oh wow you're right the shapie doesnt even make it look streaky! And thanks for the advice on the light, I had no clue on how I was going to make it! xD beside you're the first one I see who used a bottle for the visor, everyone else is using those complicated vacuum table P:
I'll make one, but it may take time before I start it cause I'm currently working on the hoodie and trying to aquire all the material. I will eventually upload some pics or a video though, I'll let you know then!
@seikatsukaguya Wow I know, right?? I was looking for tips on this costume and everyone was like "Now just vacuum form the plastic" and I was like whattt. By an amazing stroke of luck, a friend was making a Daft Punk helmet at the same time as me and gave me the great idea of the pop bottle. Just be careful when you cut it out, it gets very sharp, and its very easy to scratch the surface with scissors if you don't watch where you're cutting... (I had to make two because of this)
