At 0:42, someone on the left side was about to walk out on screen. I'm sure it wasn't the same kid walking and coming out on screen (they were probably using a different older person for each different scene).
It fascinates me that human beings learn to both talk and walk. Seriously, think about it. Isn't it amazing? And it's all instinct. No one can TELL a li'l baby they have to start walking. They just start trying on their own.
I grew up on classic scenes like these. They are longer than a lot of the ones they use on Sesame Street now. The longer scenes helped to stretch a child's attention span. Now, they cater to a child's naturally short attention span, which is a shame. I've always loved Sesame Street but if I had a child, I would have them watch the classics.
Do you remember a Sesame Street segment of a mother bathing a baby in a small tub and then putting a diaper on her. Joe Raposo was humming a tune in the background that sounds like this: da da da da dadadada...da da da. There was also a tune that sounds similar to the one on this page. I've been looking for this for years. Please e-mail me if you remember it or have it.
If we can find the other skits this music is used in and if there's no dialogue at any parts other than heard here, I could probably splice all the dialogue free parts in the right order. lol
Love this clip, thank you so much for posting.. Bring back old Sesame Street....

As a kid I was quite fascinated at watching the progress of that baby girl as she grows up and learns how to cross those steps.

I remember this! I like the music a lot. RIP Joe, Raposo.
I also liked the end of the clip: "I think she likes those steps!"

I didn't remember this until I heard "It's the same one and she's getting bigger." Funny how one little moment triggers a memory!

This is one of, like, three skits with that music in it. I used to like it as a kid.
jbl1975 5 years ago
Yeah, what other skits was this same music used in?

I would love that.

One involving an animal or two, and one involving an anything muppet who shows he's many different things to many different people.

Heck, they should release this and a bunch of Joe Raposo's other instrumental music for Sesame Street on CD someday.
