i had the honour of going to one of her classes a while ago in NYC. shes a wonderful teacher who's amazingly friendly, talented and fun to be around. The class was so informative and fast paced. i had the time of my life!
I live in the Uk, and recently bought this dvd and two of her others ones. And all I can say is they are AMAZING! They keep you fit, and they are fun, exciting and brimmming with passion and energy. I now walk about with a near permanet smile of my face and bounce in my step! - and yes, the classes are made for everyone!!!...everyobody who wishes to staty fit in a fun and enjoyable way, that is!!- I def recommend!!!!
I thinks dance is for everyone, even im not too good dancer I love to express myself with my hole body, feel the music and let myself loose. its also great way too loose calories.. and fun to do alone or with friends. or even dancing with your bf.. something to share with. you dont need to perfect. let the music take you.

@Wollenschrank No. Dance is an art. Art is for everyone, just like language. To say Samba is only for Africans is like saying that learning Japanese is only for Asians or Ballet only for Russians. Samba is a blend of Latin and African styles, and just like any other genre, any able bodied person can learn it if they try hard enough. I'm Native American and a Bellydancer, and a good one at that. With hard work & a will to succeed you can accomplish what you set your mind to.
@HimeBerrii It is, but just as with Gospel and Jazz music in the American south, to say that it is strictly African would be a mistake. There are influences from all over the world, and it could not exist without those influences. It is not strictly African (which, I know, you didn't say it was). I didn't mean to say that it was more Latin than African if that's what it sounded like, I was acknowledging the parentage of the dance. :)
@HimeBerrii it's really from Italy and was exported to France, Russia, and so on etc, but it's mostly associated with Russia (at least where I live, especially when pointe shoes are involved), but I think you get what I mean ;)
If you are looking for a slower paced Samba dvd with more explanation of the moves you might want to try her 1st dvd
Samba " Dance Today". After you work on that one you will definitely enjoy this one a lot more , because this one is more of a high impact DANCE workout. good luck!
Oi Quenia, bonito seu trabalho, sua coragem e sua iniciativa. Que bom que vc mora en NY. Eu ensino dancas latinas. Mas onde eu moro nao tem muito campo SO' para dancas brasileiras. Vc quer me ajudar a mudar isso? Quem sabe voce nao vem dar um workshop e a gente incorpora um pouco do seu trabalho para minhas alunas? Abracos,
Seriously,Quenia is one of the best Samba teachers that I've even seen here on YouTube. I'm also a dance teacher and when I grow up I'd like to be just as good as her.kk
OMG YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!! She is an awsome performer and teacher. I took her class at Alvin Ailey in N.Y and she totally made me work. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED teacher. Though you should buy her Samba Dvd first so you can get the basics. A definite yes to her DVD :)
