Hey I live in Blackheath and we have a Blue Mountains diamond python(Freddie), It lives around the chook house and back door its out already, do you no if i should be worried about my kids sharing the backyard with him he is very loved but still very much wild , Freddie doesn't seem to want to eat the chickens only their eggs , he lets them peck him, I would love some advice on whether i should be worried and a little less complacent with him?
@Rdanger78 Hi, u need not be worried about ur kids with a Diamond Python. just so long as they know they should leave it alone as it is a wild animal and it can still give quite a painfull bite.
I am surprised however that u say it hasn't had a go at the chooks. I would probably make the chook pen a bit more snake proof if I were u because one day he is likely to take one of them. It is a great thing to share your home with a python. They are beautiful plus they make great rodent controllers
@SaveTheSnakes ddrroool!! if i could go for a quick walk from my house and find Lacies, Heath Dragons, and Beardies.....well i wouldnt be home during summer
i get the blueys and the water skinks, and lacies and eastern beardies are SUPPOSED to be in this area, but i have spent countless days herping in different places all over my area and havent found either
