@69adrummer he is strapped in the belt he is messing with is for when the hoisting, aka gunners belt. The seat themselves have a 5 point harness seat belt.
(Hand me down) equipment for these fat beer swilling goofs. It's pretty obvious that there are no physical strength requirements for "ending up" in the coast guard. That's pretty pathetic.
@lietzke on the contrary, the Coast Guard has the most difficult physical fitness requirements for entry in to the Coast Guard, and is considered to have the most difficult basic training next to the Marine Corps.
You should speak with a re-enlistment recruiter, or go to your career center. Ask them about cross-service enlistment or comissions. Usually it isn't difficult so long as the other service has the job you're looking for. More than likely you'll have to go to school for working on the HH-60 over the UH-60 as it has significantly different equipment not related to flight (such as specific search and rescue gear etc.). Other than that your Army helicopter pilot certification should pass over.
I'm no expert on this, but I highly doubt the other service would send you to flight school all over again. Why would they waste the money sending you to flight school if you are already a certified Blackhawk pilot?
More than likely you would be sent to school for additional special operations of the HH-60J. Although anymore even Army Blackhawk pilots are getting trained very similarly to Coast Guard pilots as the Army has done a lot of Search and Rescue missions during Katrina, etc.
@jn45672 Join the Coast Guard, sign up for AMT "A"-School after basic training. You will then be an Aviation Maintenance Technician and will repair and maintain all the helicopters, as well as serve as flight crew
Is it possible to get an occupation as a helicopter crewman as a new E-1 or E-2 in the Coast Guard? or are jobs like these reserved for senior enlisted and officers?
first E-1 does not exist in the fleet unless you get masted only in bootcamp. E-2 and E-3 you can be an airman but not qualified as a crewman but you may still fly just for the ride its up to the pilot. You have to go through the airman program as an E-3 for 4 months then to A-school. once you graduate you are an E-4 at whatever rate you went (AMT, AET, AST) then you can advance in paygrade based upon your marks, quals, and performance.
Haha...yep, it's a Sikorsky HH-60 Jayhawk. You can tell by a number of major differences: (1) the main rotor system has a "beat" that drives you stark raving mad, (2) there's enough room in-between the pilot and copilot to install an electric breadmaker, (3), there's an avionics rack behind the pilot that's not there in an HH-65A/B/C, (4) the aft cabin iis huge, (5) the flight mechanic looks sleepy, (6) absence of whistling #*$(-can noise from the fenestron that's not there on a HH-60.
(1) Yea, the cabin maybe huge if you compare it to the H65, but not as huge as the HH3F that the H60 replaced! (2) There are no longer any HH65-A,B,C's in Coast Guard inventory. They are now either MH65-C or MH65-D (3) The tail rotor on the MH65 no longer "whines". The old 10 bladed T/R was replaced with a new 11 bladed T/R.
the description says hh-60J I'm pretty sure the poster knows what kind of bird they are putting up. Or maybe some people dont know how to read the description.

please give the definition of AMT, AET, AST :)
Captus15 2 years ago
AMT = aviation maintenance technician. They work on the entire airframe except for avionics. Like a civilian A&P mechanic.
AET = aviation electronics technician. They work on avionics and electrical equipment.
AST = aviation survival technician. These are the rescue swimmers on helicopters. They also maintain and repair all survival equipment.

Keep in mind that almost all military pilot positions with the exception of UAVs in the army require that you be an officer to fly them.

ya sortof, well they would take u (with helicopter experience) over someone who doesn't have helicopter experience
uscgswimmer1 2 years ago
they wouldn't "automatically" let u in, u still have to get trained for search and rescue ops but it would sure look good on ur resume

so that is the gearing in the tranny making the sound? I always thought it was the turbine

its the enclosed tail rotor that makes it different and makes the sound.
