Generally go the alternate interpretation route for writing. Find alternate angles from which to view the pivotal events or even change around what those pivitol events actually are and I find without fail that I've got a recipe for ridiculousness. Once I've got that, well, the scripts just write themselves.
In extreem cases, turn the main protagonist into the antagonist and write one's self into the show...
i come up with jokes by 1st seeing the jap then the dub episode(s) the i leave it for about a week then i sit done an wright about what ever i remember, cuts out a lot
