dave wrote this song pretty much all of it except the bass part. when he left metallica changed the name, the lyrics, the tempo, and added a solo. it has the same base parts but they are still both different songs. and metallica didnt steal the song because megadeth was able to release daves song. there is no point in fighting over it because they are both great songs and great bands.

Dave co-wrote the four horsemen with James Hetfield while in Metallica. The music, apparently was Dave's, which is why he used it for Mechanix. Dave also co-wrote around 3 other songs on "Kill 'em All", I believe "Hit the Lights", and "Motorbreath" were a couple more, have to look at the credits on the album.....Oh, and @ MrJmont1...Dave MAY have spilt beer on Ron McGoveny's bass, but Ron was gone LONG before the album came out..
