  • Does this projector have a 3D option?

  • You might want darken and use matt on those walls in that room.

  • Can this projector be used effectively on a blank white wall or would I need to buy a screen of some sort?

  • I purchased this projector. Here in The Villages we get together once a month for a driveway movie. We built a six by twelve foot screen out of plywood and two by fours than can be assembled and taken apart;. The picture on this screen was incredable.

  • some guy sells me one for 124 dollars is it a good deal?

  • Sounds somewhat shady, i would not go for it, then again its up to you, i would ask to see it first

  • What are the limits on projectors in angle to the screen? I am designing a house with a room 16'8" wide with a vaulted ceiling and 9' walls. I would like to use a projector and build a cubby for it either in the wall or in the vaulted portion. Given these dimensions, 16'8" wall to wall and 9' height, with possibly putting the projector higher in the vaulted portion, is this feasible? I would like to have the projector hidden.

  • I love optoma, I have had my HD72 for over 3 years not one problem. Love Optoma a brand I trust.... Great picture you can get a picture with the quality Optoma provides unless you are willing to spend 3 times as much.

  • @phelpsholt i own the HD70! im on 2000 hours now, lol, how many hours do you have on yours? :) i need to get a lamp very soon cos i keep getting the replacement reminder of doom message every time i turn it on XD

  • I'm considering this purchase, but there is only 1 HDMI input...??

  • That's correct. There is only one HDMI input. If you have multiple HDMI sources, we sell a basic 4x1 (4 inputs x 1 output) HDMI switcher for about $199.00. Call 1-888-686-0551 whenever you're ready to order and we'll walk you through your options.

  • @FocusedTechnology

    I agree.... get a switcher! :)

  • @FocusedTechnology A basic 4 in 1 switcher for 200 bucks? Get real!

  • @epapa2: Ideally, you could run one HDMI from the projector to a receiver. Then your receiver could have all our inputs.

  • @epapa2 Better yet look at the 3lcd projecotors, better color, that are WAYYYYY cheaper ($2,500) and due to the 3 chips should give better colors than this old (2009) projector can do. You don't need that many lumen's, you'll be turning out the lights to watch a movie like every one else. FYI I run a high end 3chip sony projector less than 1000 lumens at 119 inche screen, and it looks fantastic. DLP is still WAY over priced and performs no better (worse blacks) than LCD projectors.

  • @Deanzsyclone My bad, it's much cheaper now, I didn't see that little flash show up on price until the second time.

  • @Deanzsyclone DLP has higher ansi contrast and doesn't have panel misalignment issues. Another problem with the newer LCDs with the great black levels is that they all rely on dynamic irises to achieve them and some find the pumping of the brightness distracting. Turn it off and it kills the LCD black advantage to a considerable degree. The TX1080 would be best for ambient light or large screens. I'd say just get a JVC RS-1. I might get one for $1,500. 15,000:1 NATIVE contrast.

  • I have had Optoma projectors from the very first one that came out, never had an issue with any of the old or new models i have tested over the years, picture quality has always been great. No Complains on my end. Just because one of ur projectors may have broken down for whatever reason it is not grounds for saying that optoma has no good reputation. They are the first to come out with the new HD20 model for $999 in 1080p! What more can u ask for!

  • I have the HD72 and would like to upgrade to a 1080p model, but the lamp life of the Optoma's in general scare me.

  • @StarlightAU

Thats the price you pay for a projector.... nothing like it though for that real movie experience you just can't get on an LCD.

  • Optoma doesn't have a good reputation? I would disagree with that 100%. I own numerous optoma HD71 projectors, they see lots of duty in outdoor environments, and not once have I had an issue with them.

The build quality is good, the picture quality is excellent.

  • Optoma doesn't have a good reputation though. I had one and the projector failed 3 days of using it.

  • @savere2006 sorry this is a very late reply, i just seen this vid, i own the HD70, its on 2000 hours now, i bought it in 2006, not bad at all really and the pic quality is awesome! :D

  • I love the black finish on it....dont know just makes it look more serious and elegant.
