A debt collector called my neighbor and told her "if you can't find your neighbor and get him to pay, we will have to come to your home so that you can pay the debt for him."
The neighbor sued the collection agency and won a five-figure settlement. If the collector calls your office, out your boss on the phone, let him get the info (under the ruse that he's going to make you pay) and your boss can sue the collector and win.
@dandan26, while there is nothing wrong with collecting a debt, the law simply does not give a debt collector the authority to lie, harass, or misrepresent himself, and for certain practices such as what is on this video a debt collector can be sued, or even arrested. There is no justification for a debt collector to act outside the scope of the statutory authority given to him or her.
Whether they've defaulted or not, there's absolutely no excuse for behaviour like that.
It's criminal behaviour on the agency's part, and no argument in the world will alter that fact.
In the USA, it's pretty easy - make a police complaint, and if the police won't help, complain to the person's immediate superior, and keep complaining until they look into your complaint.
