Eddie paved the way, but people like George Lynch, Steve Vai, Vivian Campbell, and a few others cleared the way for a generation of MUSICIANS like no other. Think about it, but from this era of great music also came Nuno Bettencourt, Vito Bratta, Derek Frigo, Andy Timmons, Ritchie Kotzen, Warren DeMartini, and plenty of others that I know I'm forgetting. Lynch had a really interesting guitar tone on this album. I recall reading in an interview he had this guitar that had this pickup that was phased but would "slide" between the bridge and neck pickups without having him to physically switch between pick ups. I think him and Jake E Lee talked about going more minimalistic around that time in terms of sound.
