  • It's FAKE because only American can invent this travelator!

  • There's a guy who walks into the middle of the frame at 1:39 who looks EXACTLY like me. At first he looks towards the camera by turning his head left, and then he turns it to the right and eventually faces the camera. What's weird is that a long time before watching this video, I told myself that when I die, and if heaven exists, I'd like to go to the 1904 St. Louis world's fair.. This comes close, but damn, this is freaky especially considering I lived in Paris during my childhood..... damn.

  • @DeLorean4 cool story bro

  • Thanks for the help. the sad thing is this is the only place where it says that Edison invented the f***ing moving walkway, sry about profanity just annoyed at how long I had to look to find it here

  • Mignon, mais les batiment et les pavilon super ne se voient pas bien...

  • What exactly were they moving on? A giant motorized belt of some kind?

  • this was way ahead of its time

  • FAKE! Totally fake.

  • @Feliciano4u2b

Yeah that Edison sure could fake a film. LOL

  • I read that book many years ago. I didn't realize that anyone ever built a real moving sidewalk until I saw this!

  • How do they make a moving sidewalk? How come they don't have them anymore?

  • These sidewalks consistently cut off people's toes and feet. So the officials determined people wanted to keep their body parts; so alas they shut the sidewalks down.

  • @kennethj1956

Not exactly true, the sidewalk was dismantled at the end of the fair.

I have looked for reports of injuries but have found none, but possibly you are right.

  • 47 millions peoples visited paris during this expo!!

  • @facudesign

There were actually two running side by side; one moving slightly faster than the other, this is visible if one watches the film carefully. You alight on the slow one and then step onto the faster one to travel.

  • This is incredible

  • Anybody ever read Robert Heinlein's short SF story, "The Roads Must Roll"?

  • Heard about it. Haven't read it yet.

Gonna have to look it up.

  • where abouts in Paris was this located? Anyone know?

  • Right in the heart of Paris near the Eiffel Tower.

  • Interesting
