I can't hear anything... But anyways I didn't know CSUF already had an Atheist/Agnostic organization! I guess I don't have to worry about creating one!
wow...all of you FAAK people are so stupid I mean seriously your saying the bible isn't true and bla bla bla bla bla never happened? ha Douglaus your the dumbest of the dumb. ok let me get this straight, an athiest comes to capo and says ok guys im older thatn you and i'm saying that god isn't real, and the bible isn't real?
He's not stupid. These people come into a class and state legitimate facts that represent their case well, act very respectful to students and make sure to label any counter belief as wrong and the people as confused. When any people on the other side makes a legit. point, the students will already look at them as biased (which everyone is). I'm just skeptical about anyone comming to a public school (don't know if this is) that has a reason to mislead people (including religious groups).
I like this guy. I'm a senior majoring in chemistry at the UW and a problem I see in the teaching of evolution in the lower level biology classes is some of the professors are not as respectful as Mr. Hoffman and put down religion even when they aren't confronted with it. Instead of teaching the material objectively, letting the facts speak for themselves or giving the students the freedom to think for themselves they feel a need to, in my opinion, degrade a group of people for their beliefs.
After watching the video a second time the comment about the professor being confused about his beliefs is out of line. I get his point but this is a decision for the students to make, not him. Leading comments like this detract from free thinking and make it uncomfortable for people who disagree to speak up. There is an indoctrination going on in high schools and colleges that people with different ideas other than science are confused/stupid and this is wrong.
