  • Turkish Doumbek from Amazon? $171.75. The look on that guy's face at 0:13? Priceless.

  • Am I correct that toumperleki, doumbek and darbuka are all the same instrument? What then is a tabla?

  • @Ellatha1 Indian Tabla is those two drums, Arabic Tabla is also known as Doumbek, or Darbuka. The word Tabla means drum.

  • @demagetube It would seem that the best drummers have been playing for years, maybe since childhood. Is it ever too late to learn?

  • @Ellatha1 It is never too late to learn. Same goes for pitch and singing. Anyone can learn pitch and rhythm if they do the proper exercises. I do not believe anyone is "non-rhythmical" or "tone deaf". Passing these hurdles is simply a matter of the proper type of practice and training. Anyone can do it!

  • @demagetube Is there a way I can send you a correspondence through PM (or you to me)? Your channel is not available and I'd like to ask you some questions out of the public eye?

  • We underestimate what our fingers are capable of. Before I ever played the tabla (doumbek) I was already doing triplet rolls with my left ring finger, left index finger, and a right finger, and adding various accents to the right finger. I recently discovered the playing of tabla masters and acquired my first tabla. We are channeling both inner and external energies. We are a conduit for these energies as we enjoy our physical form and the drum itself is the receiver.

  • I love the reactions of the guys looking at the camera! While I don't play the dumbek but have played other instruments, why is everyone so critical? I would imagine there are different styles or techniques which depend on many things.

  • @Ellatha1 Ha! Never made a video of that, but I am making a video of me playing this with my nose hairs. Takes a lot of practice but eventually a sound comes out. The hard part is getting comfortable.

  • @demagetube Ha! That would take some serious nasal control, eh? ; )

  • @demagetube This will sound strange but is it me or do the very best players almost look like their fingers have a life of their own and disconnected from their hands? Do you know what I mean?

  • booka shmooka...I can do that with my toes and I'm from New York. Doesn't anybody practice anymore?

  • @demagetube Actually, I would like to see your video of you playing this with your toes?

  • only in tyrkey i can earn to play like that?

    i leane in greece

  • amazing!

  • wow!

  • the talent talks..

  • He played on every inch of that drum ! it's really unbelivable!

  • someone tell the girl in the background to shut up

  • You kick ass dude!! I dont care where your from!

  • That guy can PLAY!

  • It realy is unbelivable because he does an remarcabely job on shifting from the "normal" arabic rythm into "roman" rythm as it was peace of cake :) HARIKA HARIKA!!!

  • bravooooooooooooooooooo !!!!

  • The Buddy Rich(minus the ego) of the Doumbek. Thanks for posting. Wish I could have been there.

  • sup armenians, how does it feel to know ur ppl had massacred for nothing and we are just laughing on that subject?

now eat justin bieber's pussy and keep crying

  • @Nihilist15 I am Turkish myself, and I think what you are saying is totally wrong. Stop this nonsensical hatred towards Armenians and towards ANY culture around the world. Really? You are proud to hate? I wish the best for you, I have faith you can improve and be positive, and not take so much pride in your hatred. And hey, lighten up, this is a beautiful rhythm video, congratulations to this gentleman for playing so well.

  • @DrumTeknique I am an armenian, and i feel the same way about the armenian youth., thank you for having open eyes. now i know history and it wont stop me from being friends with a turkish person. we will have to look over the facts together, and work out a solution. this hate toward eachother is ridiculous, there are barely any survivors left alive from the genocide so why are all these armenians and turkish people fighting still... it doesnt make sense to me

  • Dude is mega talented. Lovely culture and lovely people to deal with. Turks. May we all enjoy love and peace in this lovely world of ours.

  • amazing

  • Unbelieveable

  • I don't believe it.

This is unbelievable. I will never believe it.

  • Turkish ;) !!!

  • Great Darbucka, Sir!

  • This is amazing, i wish my fingers could move that fast.

on the naming of the drum, the middle east cant seem to make up its mind. In syria, ive heard darbakeh, but also tabla

i dont really like the second term, kinda confusing and misleading to people who dont know much.

  • Απίστευτος. Θεός.

  • HOLY FUCK ! :D

  • abi çalışına diyecek yok ama ritimler arası bağlantı yok. bir ritime giriosun hemen başkasına kulak tırmalıyor

    ama süpersin :D

  • aaaaaaaaaaah i want to play like him o_o

  • who are the top 3 darbuka players in the word?

  • The best two are:

    - Misirli Ahmet

    - Levent Yildirim

  • @DonnieBrasco20 this guy is the best ever

  • @amokaci38 Who's technic do you think this guy is using?? That of Misirli Ahmet ;). So who do you think is better?? If you dont believe me check out the videos, jus search for "Misirli Ahmet".

PS: Afcourse this guy plays amazing. There are only a view darbuka players that can do this.

  • @DonnieBrasco20 you are completely wrong.misirli is using his techniqe.search it better and youll see im right

  • @zicucrew My friend it is his OWN technic. But it is INSPIRED by the technic used on the tabla. These are Misirli Ahmets own words. So agian: IT IS HIS OWN TECHNIC.

  • Google&youtube Burhan Ocal too

  • One word to tell what you are , "idiot" .

Couldnt u just enjoy the vid.

  • Comment removed

  • lol , u tried to start a fight over a drum so stfu and enjoy the vid

  • This is the turkish style ;). Split finger technic. I would love to see egyptians play at this level on their "own" darbuka. ;)

  • Comment removed

  • If you read my comment a little better you will see that im not suggesting its a turkish darbuka my friend. I sad: " would love to see egyptians play at this level on their 'own' darbuka."

  • turkish darbuka??? nothing from the instruments you can see in the background are turkish....the most of them are arabic, egyptian, syrian and so on..................

  • DAMN! Is it me ore did you people forgot to read! I AM NOT SAYING ITS A TURKISH DARBUKA!!!!!! If you read my last comment better (wich you just wrote your comment to) you can see it sas "WOULD LOVE TO SEE EGYPTIANS PLAY AT THIS LEVEL ON THEIR 'OWN' DARBUKA".

  • your mother is biatch !

  • Comment removed

  • did i say that i hate turkish culture? i just said that this instruments are not turkish, yes they are a compoment of your created culture, in fact you culture is influenced by arabic, kurdish, greek(most of byzantine culture) and slavian culture. And in the end i want to say that i'm not a racist and i dont hate all the turks. I just hate your politcal system, goverment and everyone who is against greece, so let's say more than 50% of turkish people.

  • You shouldn't hate at all you, don't you realize even hating a little bit of something is still bad. What political system or government in this world ISN'T messed up? They all are corrupt and wrong in some way. Greek gov.t, Turkish gov.t, French gov.t, Italian gov.t, and so on...Stefanos, I hope your hatred towards anything or anyone in life goes away for good. Even if it is "just" 50% of a country. I hope you shall one day be enlightened to do so. Find your passion...

  • Ummm... Two words for you buddy:

    Ottoman Empire.

  • Blame everything on the Greeks, ey? That's the only thing you Turks can do. Silly fuckers.

  • @Abgulu i always ask the same thing about turks hating on kurdish culture and it really bothers me on why it happens personally i love watching music especially videos like this one but wheres my disrespect, im kurdish and i watch videos on darbuka all the time

  • @Abgulu we dont hate them my frend!yomare victim off non well educated people.turcish people are my brothers.we would like verynmuch to fuck german merkel and we will do this

  • @Abgulu cos us turks had a war with the greeks over cyprus

  • @Abgulu maybe the history of the 2 countries

  • @Abgulu okay, now you get a counter example. I am Armenian and I think Turks are genocidal land-stealing low-lives. Now you cant get off the Greek's nuts.

  • i thought only us lebs called it a durbaka, i thought u guys called it a tablah, i wish i can do what this guy does, i fukin suck lol

  • No tablah is the instrument that indians use. But in some countries they call the darbuka tablah like you sad. I can play oke, but not like him in a long shot :)

  • hollyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, wow!!!! Miya Miya...edeeelo!

  • man!!! unbelievel!!! He is fantastic!!!

  • hem kaziklamisindir bunlari hemde ünlü oldun helal :D

  • lol

  • true that darbuka is ur drum but i think turkish play it best search for onur nar for ex. but ur right this guy s not fluent in weight

  • Fair enough, can you give us a link to someone who is above 9?

  • Beğendiniz mi lan amcıklar

  • Amazing what you can do with that darbuka, but you should follow a sequence, a rythm. It sounds like a mess of beats. Like a tons of pots fall down stairs. It's amazin what you can do with the darbuka, but the performance lacks of rythm

  • That's because he's soloing. Usually, there's another drum playing a basic rhythm to the solo. But you can actually clap a basic rhythm to it. i did, and i can tell you: The guy is pretty precise. he speeds up the tempo about three times, but on the whole, he keeps the same tempo.

  • the store owner must be thinking "he better buy that Darbuka or I'll kick his ass" :P

  • lol so true

  • VERRYYYY GOOODDD!!!

  • !?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!
