Your bicep was great in 2006 and it has only gotten better. You are astonishing. Congratulations on the progress you have made and will make. Very hot biceps! Vascularity, definition, great shape and size, genetically gifted.
The first pic was from 2006-- years before I decided to become a bodybuilder and do bodybuilding training. The second pic was from 2011, the year I decided to become a bodybuilder. In the video description I mentioned how I'd done about 7 months of bodybuilding training in the time before the second picture; I decided to start bodybuilding in early 2011.
While 5 yrs. of time had elapsed, about 7 months of bodybuilding training was done.
I didn't use any "secrets"-- just hard and consistent work, eating enough to add a decent amount of weight, and focusing on doing more weight on exercises over time and more reps with the same weight. Basic principles can take someone a long way!
Haha, I actually don't do any curls. I hit side triceps shots in some other videos of mine, and they show my triceps aren't a big weakness (in fact, in the past they have looked a lot more developed than my biceps depending on the angles/shots/poses).
thats a huge improvement if he has been already in the gym the longer your work the harder it gets for those muscles to get bigger because your body adapts thats why need good rest in between your excercises.
looking good, defo improvement. the reason why ur veins r pumping is because ur cutting off ur blood supply i.e ur t-shirt sleeve is to tight. but still looking gud and natural unlike most of the guys on here.
My veins pop up like that if a shirt is on or not, as can be seen in some of my other videos. I've got lots of veins that can show up on many places on my body, and they stand out the most on my chest, my neck, my forehead, and on my biceps (especially right bicep). It seems like genetics are a huge factor in that happening.
sorry mate, i think you misunderstood me. im not saying ur veins aint popping out, im jus saying u slightly exaggerarated by sqeezing the sleeve of your t-shirt.
To sum up what I did, I ate more calories, ate more protein, and started hitting compound movements consistently in 2011-- the year I decided to start bodybuilding-- for often between 8-30 reps, and I focused on getting stronger and better in those movements. Weighted pull-ups and chin-ups were my main bicep exercises. Curls seemed to play less of a role, as I stopped doing them due to forearm injury issues they caused me.
@BrawnyRonnie yo thanks man your videos do help. I'm trying to get on point and get my body were i want it to be. It has to feel awesome to look in the mirror and see your body like that.
The veins have a lot to do with genetics, but with that being said you can potentially really increase how much yours show by cutting body fat down to very, very low levels. I'm talking about getting it low enough so that your abs are ripped looking without flexing them under overhead lighting.
My body is injury prone on curls, and I've barely done them in months. The best bicep builders for me were weighted chin-ups, pull-ups, and inverted rows.
It seems a lot of people have unrealistic expectations of progress on YouTube, especially when it comes to drug-free progress in people who were already highly trained. Many seem to want to go from fat to shredded or tiny to huge in about 5 wks. instead of about 5 yrs., and it's simply not realistic. I suspect that quick fix/looking for shortcuts mentality is what causes many to take steroids, & also causes many to fail to progress much.
NO great bodybuilder became great in wks.- it took yrs.
A lot of people say those are bad gains for 5 years, but I think its an accomplishment to have grown at all, let alone maintain what you already had for 5 years. Maintaining a good physique is hard for most people.
Only about 7 months of bodybuilding training in that time, and I was in very good shape in 2006 (I wasn't one of those non-trained to trained transitions often seen on YouTube, so the gains were going to be less impressive). Add in no drugs, and I think the gains were pretty decent. In 2006 people talked a lot about how skinny I was; in 2011 many talk about how big I am (though I don't think I'm big).
I'd say those were fair results in only 7 months of bodybuilding.
@BrawnyRonnie so basically from 2006 to 2011, you were maintaining then 7 months prior you decided to pick it up hard again, that makes sense, it looks like half an inch to an inch increase in size which is a big difference..ive added about an inch and a quarter to my arms in the last 6 months and people say i look "twice as big" they really make a big difference, great work, stay consistent, so will the gains
I wasn't really maintaining from 2006-2011; I was training and gaining big in that time, but not in a bodybuilding sense (I was training for various athletic and fitness endeavors, and I wasn't doing bodybuilding training). I decided to start bodybuilding training in early 2011.
I haven't used creatine since around 2009; I think it's badly overrated, though it can produce minor results in many people (I wasn't one of them though).
As far as the natural label goes, I don't like it because people use so many different definitions for it. One could say it's not "natural" to take protein powder, or even train in a gym or live in a house or apartment. I go with drug-free as a label for me, because that definition seems far more clear to people.
@BrawnyRonnie yea thats true. it gets confusing, for me proteins it. but ya drug frees good to say...and im only against creatine cuz all it does is push water into ur muscles to make them look bigger. dont rly gain strength at all. checked out ur channel btw, nice brah keep up ur good work. respect for doin it drug free
@BrawnyRonnie Do you think you could achieve those same results without using whey protein? not to down you or anything, just wanna know your take on it. GREAT biceps bro.
I definitely think I could have gotten basically the exact same results while using no whey protein. I use whey because it's a convenient and inexpensive source of protein in comparison to meat, not because it's "superior". Had I replaced the whey with more lean meat to get the same total amount of protein, really similar or the same results would have been achieved.
Supplements are badly overrated. Good eating and smart training seem underrated.
@BrawnyRonnie Alright just looking for some reassurance, I see all these meat heads talking about how whey protein is far superior to meats after a workout because its absorbed more quickly, but In the end, protein is protein and the hard work you put in - when paired with good nutrition, is satisfying to say the least.
While it can add small benefits for many, there are supplemental creatine non-responders out there. I was tracking my performance and bodyweight very closely on and off supplemental creatine from several big brands, and I saw no statistical difference on or off creatine. Like with other factors, individual results vary considerably.
I'm curious to see where all these bodybuilders are who are drug free, and get to that level of development in one year of training. Some people keep mentioning things like that, but so far no one has mentioned any names. Looks a little suspect...
In that 5 yr. period, I was bodybuilding training for less than a year. I was training for other things most of that time.
Haha! Good one. I'm surprised by the amount of guys who only seem to care about biceps (and abs).
Biceps aren't close to my best muscle group from a bodybuilding perspective (I think my videos give good evidence for that; many seem to think I've got better legs), but I feel good about how much mine have improved.
Too bad you are wrapping your shirt around your arm cutting off the blood flow... It actually even helps the muscle look bigger. It stops it from extending, instead it will "ball up". Next time pics without the other hand in the pic.
My arm looks like that with no hand there, as some of my other videos show. But don't take my word for that-- watch the videos of me on my channel. :)
I honestly don't know my upper arm measurement currently, and I'm guessing most who have seen me online and in person would overestimate it by a fair amount. I do know it's certainly smaller than my flexed neck measurement, which hit slightly over 18 inches lately. I don't gauge progress by body part measurements, as I've found that often when they grow a lot I don't look as muscular due to body fat gain.

@BrawnyRonnie How many weighted pullups can you do (with a 20 lb. weight vest)? How many pull ups can you do if they are NOT weighted?
ElRancholo2 1 month ago
@ElRancholo2
My personal records for pullups (overhand grip):
Bodyweight- 25 reps (perhaps could do more now)
Bodyweight + 20 lb. (9 kilo) vest added- 17 reps (confident I could have done more had I tried this closer to now)
Bodyweight + 132 lb. (60 kilo) added- 3 and a half reps
