This concert was wonderful and the music Noorsaaz play is divine. Monika, ragrdless of her background, blends a few very interesting elements in her marvelous performances: Iranian and non-oriental beats and instruments from the Orient (such as the divind Andalucían Oud in this song), early 20th century Iranian songs with great nostalgic meaning to a lot of us, and English translation. Tho I prefer the originals, Monika is a cultural genius.

Monika Jalili is not Iranian. She was born in New York and her parents are from Germany and Holland, but her husband is Iranian and she learned Farsi and she has a band called Noorsaz you can find her bio on internet
