@ahz123 Players always play beyond the limit to win, just to try and see the maximum points they can score, and there's usually prize money for the highest breaks etc. If they didn't play past the winning score required, no one would ever get 147's.. :P and that would be boring XD

@PlasmaPiano Indeed. They also play on to freeze the other player out i.e. so that lose their rhythm. Mark Williams used to smash the balls around once he had won the frame; he was not interested in making centuries.

Ronnie's positional play is just outstanding. Loved the way he gently nudged the last few reds so one was pottable. Nearly overstrayed position on the yellow but still an amazing break from just about nothing. He really is an awesome talent. Poor Steve!

Among the snooker players Ronnie ,Jimmy white and alex higgins are the most lively looking and their style of attack is lively too. The young and old gets inspiration in playing snooker watching them play. The rest of the players are all dead jombie who just come to close a money and trophy deal and produce boring snooker mooning their ass to the audiance for safety shots.

i completely agree, people dont realise that hes been around almost 30 years. hes only just dropped out the top 16 too. pretty amazing for someone who is approaching their 50th birthday.

@davem732006 I disagree. The fact that Davis got to the quarters of the worlds last year at the age of 51 when well past his peak shows he could live with them. He potted everything and went for everything back then.

Also, even if any of these players were getting beat by another they were such competitors that they would have adapted their play and worked harder.

@tforde654 I know what your saying. Do you remember when Ronnie teamed up with Ray Reardon? I think it was when he won his second world title. he played at a level that has never been seen before..Shame it only lasted for about 3 tournaments lol

theres def been mixed opinions on the best player ever! and greatest player ever ronnie yes for natural ability and quick thinking but hendry for greatest and most consistant ever (can play every shot sullivan has in book but slower)and can still compete and beat sullivan when he playing his best (even though he past it).

osulivan lacks in concentration which davis hendy etc never did and can break down in a paddy once in a while and be unsportsman like. like he has showed on many accasions!

Its only now that hendrys safety game has improved, where as ronnies all round game since 04 has been better. as u say, ronnies temperament is the weak point. Ronnie said it best when he said his A game is better than anyone elses,but his B game is much lower. A davis,or hendry, u find that their A game, if not quite as high as ronnies, at least their B game isnt far off. Thats where u find consistency. If the rocket isnt firing....hes not nearly as deadly. even on a bad day hendry was superb.
