  • at 8 mins and something did he really just say "We're surrounded by a web of information."? It says this was made in 1987,

  • @muzapstar web pertains to more things than the internet, and the internet isn't the only place to find information, although it is personally my favorite place to find info.

  • YAY!!!! Story time with Alan Moore!!!! Those kids don't realize how much of an amazing childhood they have.

  • i wish there were more videos of him such as this , i know that JIMMY's end is coming out! but i can twait!!!!

  • I know Leah Moore went on to be a comic writer, too.

  • i love love love the poem he recites in the graveyard only im having trouble with one part of it "do they watch the miniature -dinesters?- of beetles and follow before their gaze" what is the word he is using, i dont recognize it and ive tried 1,000 different spellings, phonetically it sounds like din-esters, maybe its dynnesters, i must be hearing him wrong, can somebody help me?

  • @Squibfire dynasties is the word.

  • if children are taught everything is bright and rosy, when they grow up and realize there is real evil and real horror in the world, when they have to face it,it will be unexpected and traumatising to them.

  • i wondr is hi tichnh his cildrn to rith lajk dis, not gud for childrn, pablik wil krusifai dem

  • For me answer is clear and obvious. Stan Lee created hundreds of characters, yes, but many of them are bland and their personalities as well as their motives are interchangeable.

Alan Moore has manifested several independent stories with compelling characters, profound and perplexing plot lines, and awe-inspiring and astounding atmospheres of aestheticism that engage teh mind on numerous levels.

Credit Lee for Spider-man and Xmen but Alan is obviously superior in content of all criteria.

  • @jacobob321 eh, I don't know but thats a bit much to say Moore is SUPERIOR to Lee. I think they are just different. Stan Lee also pushed the envelope for story telling as well. For example, Marvel hated the idea of Spider-Man, and it took Stan Lee's persistance to have it made. Stan Lee also worked on many stories that were deeper than surface level, like Moore has. I think think of both of them as paradigm changers in the media of Comic Books, and both should be respected as such.

  • I'd have to say that Alan Moore is a genius.

  • Alan Moore.

  • Alan Moore is better than stan lee any day...

  • Alan Moore

  • @thisisliveuk Yes. Alan Moore.

  • Considering that preferences are subjective and cannot be quantified, it's a meaningless question.

  • whats the book he's reading from, too his children at the begining

  • Shocking Futures By Alan Moore

  • Is that a Superman "S" on his tie?

  • No way Cure track! Great lil documentary

  • He's so right how he handles his children (I've two myself) but it is key to strike a balance. You simple can't be 100% negative or warning all the time; it will twist them as much as filling them with false security. Balance.

  • effing as in FUCKING? if you start praising Alan Moore at least stop self-censoring yourself first. Please.

  • I always wonder what Alan Moore was like as a kid...

  • @Jameszhangdude I would guess he wasn't too different from his most intelligent and inspired fans.

  • I like the way he said 'you find yourself surrounded by a web of information' though this was made before the net kicked off. It's like he knew :P

  • I wouldn/t call him "mad," but maybe an insane effing genius.

He actually seems quite put together.

  • Come on guys. He's mad. He doesnt deny it either. I imagine most geniuses were.

  • Everyone who speaks his/her mind off is mad to standard society. I believe we should be able to show ourselves as intense as we feel. I assume you don't have the guts to show yourself as you are at this moment of your life. Almost all of us carry a mask in public.

I think he Moore is a very brave person for showing himself as true as possible. Of course he has a big ego but he's a walking comic's god so...

  • I don't know the ego. I know in a previous video he talks of seeing himself as a Messiah (as we all do) but self-certainty and awareness of ones importance shouldn't be mistaken with ego. Isn't funny when someone acknowlegdes their talented yet it appears as a lack of humblness to others and they think "what a fucking egotistical bastard". You're right about everyone should speak their mind.

  • I dont see any sign of him being mad, maybe abit excentric, if you'd actually listen to what he's saying maybe you'd understand some of the things he's talking about.

  • I understand what he's saying completely, and I admit he's genius, but I just think his eccentricities can be called just that. He's not serial killer crazy, just kind screw loose whacky. Like a Dr. Seuss character.

And I think he'd admit to such, as he sort of does while interviewing himself and talking about evil ducks.

  • Alan Moore: satirist, rebel, thinker, innovator, artist, and all-round effing genius.

  • "Oh, forgive me. Then it's 'Subversive Bollocks" is it?

    (classic line)

  • hahaha yes sept moore might be bit cooler

  • Anyone else think those shades make him look a bit like Jim Martin from Faith No More?

    Thanks for posting this ;)

  • he's not remotely mad. where do you get that from?

  • Notice when he is giving his subversive speech, a little after 4:51, he clenches his fist unconsciously . I think that speaks volumes of the man's passion.

  • I would really like to read more of his books, particularly the ones that are little seen here in the U.S., like those of "D.R. and Quinch" or whover they were. This man is inspiring me to read more, not just comis, but literature as well.

  • Seriously think I love him. Awesome. This stuff is gold. Thanks for posting!!

  • does anyone know what song is it at 5.13?

  • The Kiss by The Cure on the album Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me (1987)

  • "Seems to me that anything these days that is slightly to the left of Genghis Khan is labeled 'subservice'"

    All too true

  • That would be 'subversive'.

  • I can type. Honestly, I can.

  • i love Alan Moore - but he is off his kite!

  • what writers aren't!

i myself am totally off my rocker!

  • most writers arent quite this exquisetly mad.

he's all the better for it

  • I wouldn't say mad, but rather odd. He's certainly aware of his eccentricities.

  • That famous Salvador Dali quote comes to mind:

"The only difference between myself and a madman is that I am not mad."

  • I wonder if he just extemporized those monologues? =\ Probably not, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he did.

  • "Hopefully it will improve your loathsome table manners." ...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Man, I wish he were MY dad.

  • Alan's daughter Leah Moore is herself now a comics writer.

  • I wish he was my dad, rather than the c*nt I ended up with. Cute kids.

  • Me, too. I feel your pain.

  • Thank you so much for uploading these!!! I could listen to his voice all day long.

  • what a fantastic poem, a bit like one of roald dahl's revolting ryhmes...only with longer words.

Moore would make a briliant storyteller

  • Those are his kids? I sort of thought he had a pool of anamorphic cells.
