I do believe they split the signal on the solo, so it's talk box and amp combined which is difficult to do without altering your rig or splicing cables.

I made my own talkbox out of an old computer speaker, a pvc end cap, and some 1/4 inch vinyl tubing. It works great for keyboard and synth, but I'm afraid If I hook up a guitar that I'll blow the speaker ^_^ oh well
