  • thanks for this im slowly getting pieces of this tour together. the album thanks for the ride is still after all these years very elusive. someone tried to charge me £200 for an old vinyl. anyway good work thats the one floyd/roger album i dont own

  • i was at this show, still have my ticket stub. hearing Slowhand play Floyd was priceless. thx for posting. :-)

  • @flibideegibbit -- was actually July 28.

  • Maudit Cellulaire de MERDE !!

  • Saw the Boston show. I forgot about Clapton's use of synth. Great post! I still have the program from the show with everyone sketched like Reg the dog. Rare appearance of clapton in his beardless days.

  • Trey anastasio was at this show!

  • wow...i have this recording on my iphone playlist from limewire...didnt know where it was from though. pure gold!! THANKS!!

  • i was at a show on this tour it was in philly anybody remember roger getting mad at people whistling???"STOP THAT STUPID WHISTLING""!!

  • i was at this concert best concert i ever seen i was really amazed with Eric Clapton he played floyd to a tee

  • i was at this concert best concert i ever seen

  • holy crap!!! I was there:))) finally a video of a concert I was actually at! Also...this was my very first concert ever!!! What a great show! Thanks for posting :)

  • have to find the ticket stub......'84 sounds right......Boston?.....

  • @khulgy Pros and Cons Tour, I know for certain that Roger played Hartford, CT in '84 and Worcester, MA in early '85 without EC. I was at the Worcester show.

  • @aroxon

I have the Worcester show on cassette somewhere....great sound

  • ahh man, maple leaf gardens..i remember this place. its closed now, but history has been made there.

  • Trey brought me here

  • did Erik steal some of this band also? haha ( Delaney and Bonnie's band )

  • @allynbyrd Dude, this is from 1984 -.-' And it's an amateur video, try to imagine what pocket-cameras they had in 80's.

Great video, thanks for uploading :D

  • i saw this tour.. ty for posting this!

  • saw him do this on this tour (Meadowlands 7/20/84) and again the day after the 5th anniversary of Sept 11 in 2006---he told of how he had the TV on the previous day and they were reading all the names of the victims and he dedicated this song to them. Having been very close to the WTC on 9/11/01 and losing friends there that day, it was probably the only time I really got choked up at a rock concert over hundreds in the last 30-32 years...

  • oh sweet!

  • Thank You!...I saw Floyd in Manchester, UK shortly after this. I really appreciate your collecting this and bringing it to us / me.

    Larry

    Mpls,Mn.

  • Every time Roger does this solo, it sounds very country & western. I like it :)

  • This is real music something modern artists are missing ...

Oh don't get me wrong I am sure there are a lot of underground bands doing something amazing but int he mainstream it is all shit. Pink floyd and bands of that era were on bigger labels and did stuff like this...

Band of today should learn something.

  • I wish I were there too

  • Is there anyone Eric Clapton hasn't played with?

  • @oscarmim1 robert johnson is one

  • Can't wait to see roger on 10/30/10 in KANSAS CITY. I'm sure it will be great.

  • no mames que chingona conbinacion de talentos. XXXXX_VIVA WATERS Y CLAPTONXXXXX

  • i only liked the pink floyd version, not without gilmour, but now when i hear it with clapton, its a whole different ballgame, hes very different

  • I saw this show at the Birmingham NEC. Eric was note-perfect but lacked a bit of soul. I don't think he was really feeling the music.

  • @lonegroover he was pretty ill on this tour and collapsed a few times

  • sorry but did anybody know wich year is his black fender precission?

  • 1977 or 1978.

I think he played on that black Fender during 'In the Flesh tour' '77. But I searched sth about these bass guitars and I find that almost every black Fenders are from 1978.

  • saw it in Nassau two nights in a row---One of the most incredible shows I ever saw

  • I saw this tour in Atlanta 1985. Dropped a hit of acid with a picture of Bill the Cat on it. This stage show totally blew my mind. Three huge screens, perfect surround sound. Incredible.

  • waters the best of pf and its all

  • Pink Floyd has the word Pink in it O_o

  • cualityy sucks!!!

  • mr. clapton is a journeyman

  • I saw a show on this tour too. Providence. Unforgettable

  • @blester333 I saw this tour and I have seen A LOT of oncerts. It still ranks as one of my all time favorite shows. Everybody who saw this tour thinks it was incredible. Was it the show? The music? The fact it was Rog's first solo outing?

  • this is one show, i wish I could have seen. some of the 2nd leg boots even sounded better. I will never know, being there live though!

  • Cool story, bro.

  • Heh, Clapton's playing his synth guitar.

  • caught this at MSG and the Brendan Byrne is I remember correctly. wow, 25 years ago.

  • I was this show! One of the best shows ever. I had such a great time I went back to see them the second night. I also saw Waters when he came back to Toronto some months later on that tour. I think Andy Fairweather Low had replaced Clapton by that time. The Pros And Cons Of Hitchiking still remains one of my all time favorite albums.

  • Awesome! Two masters of rock performing a beautiful song together.

  • Pure Art.

  • My name's Fran Raya and I'm a female singer/songwriter from the UK. I was invited to suport Eric Clapton on his 'Just One Night' Scandinavian tour performing my own songs. His band were Gary Brooker, Dave Markee, Albert Lee, Chris Stainton and Henry Spinetti. It was a rare and memorable time for me. Rather like this video. Rare footage indeed.

  • "havin fun and the train aint even left the station"

  • Thanks for the vid...i was there, as my cousin was in the band, really cool... was backstage and met everyone...sadly, michael kamen is no longer with us...great to be in maple leaf gardens, since i love hockey too !...sorry my feliow canadians...detroit red wings

  • They didn't need to 'wish I was there' -- I WAS!!! 18th row, centre floors. Still got the ticket stub. Maybe the best show I ever saw. Just AMAZING! Though not seen in this vid, not from this angle, the video show behind Waters and Clapton (for its day) was mind-blowing!

  • I love this version

  • clapton doesnt have to sing well. hes clapton. whos listening to his voice? its all about the guitar. and in that case CLAPTON IS GOD

  • ?!?since when EC is an instrumentalist????

  • He recorded Roger Waters´ 1984 The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking and played on the first part of the consecutive 1984 tour too.

  • since Toronto 1969 with John Lennon

  • A imagem está ruim mas o vídeo é interessante de qualquer maneira.

  • SHIT to you, what are you on about Eric Clapton never has to try to "sing well" he is the best!

  • You do realize it's Roger Waters singing lead on this, right?

  • Maple Leaf Gardens has sat empty for years now. Waiting for a condo development or grocery store depending on who you believe. Many many great concert here (and even a couple hockey games), first time seeing footage from this one, thx :)

  • it is most definately Eric Clapton. I remember this tour and Eric was beardless for a brief time during this era, besides that, I just recognize his playing. I thought Eric played superbly on the tour and on the record as well. Roger brought out the fire in Eric's playing in those days. Such great memories. I still love to listen to that album.

  • I was at that show..very good indeed! The next day I was offered a 1961 strat that Clapton had tried out at the gardens (possibly in the show or at soundcheck)-alas I was a kid and didn't have the 1200 bucks-cheap today.

  • Brings back memories! I saw this tour at the Brendan Byrne Arena in E. Rutherford, NJ. Its now called the Continental Airlines Arena.

  • I was at this show. No shit. I think it was the first of two shows and Clapton didn't play the next night. Clapton looked terrible but played like magic. I would love to see some of the video used for the back drop. The video of the cartoon dog. Close ups of the syringe. Anyone ever found it?

  • It's definitely Clapton. I saw this concert when they came to the Spectrum in Phila. I remember it being Simon Phillips on drums, at least for that show. Fantastic show! Didn't even know Clapton was on the tour till I got there. Got a program that night confirmed the lineup. (Wish it was here! Lost it!)

  • beautiful version

  • thanks for the great video, I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan, own all their albums. I'm really tired of people taking sides in the fight between Gilmour and Waters. Can't we love them both? Dave for his melodic guitar riffs and Roger for his lyrics, they both need each other.

  • exactly!

  • yes indeed,

  • @lab0y21 I know what you mean. I am a huge beatles fan and I hate when people take sides between Paul and John

    sorry for my english

  • kowalskirt70 - It IS Clapton, I went to see them on this tour when they played at Wembley arena. Waters and Clapton are good friends.

  • Looks (and sounds) like Clapton to me. Damn, it would have been amazing to see those two live on stage together. I loved Eric's work on Pros and Cons. Thanks for posting this vid!

  • I dont think that is clapton. That looks more like Snowy White, who has played with Waters for years.

  • It's Clapton. He played the first leg of the tour with Waters (to fufill a promise he had made when they got drunk together one night)

  • How come none of these gigs with Eric Clapton have been offically released? These a are friggen awesome! Just like I'm hoping for an offical video of the original Wall concerts, although there's the Berlin concerts to fill that urge up, there's no other Eric Clapton!

  • pink floyd was one of a kind. there'll never be another band like them.

  • AMAZING.......

    Thanks 4 posting this.

  • i think both are genius

  • What a prick.

ROGER WROTE THE SONG SO SHUT THE F.. UP DONNY!

  • Although David Gilmour and Rick Wright were 'instrumental' in creating the music upon which the lyrics lay... sometimes Gilmour also help make Rogers verbosity singable.

Gilmour Water and Wright, genius' all. Thanks for posting this. Cheers.

  • Roger wrote most of the music of pink floyd, pink floyd wouldn't be pink floyd if it wasn't for him, if you notice, after he left pink floyd, they all of a sudden went sh!t, they weren't even allowed to be called pink floyd anymore up untill the point roger decided to let the rest of the band be named pink floyd again.

  • Just a matter of opinion, Waters made some good shit, to stay in that line of rating, after PF and so did PF without him, they were both just so different when they parted.

  • Roger and Rick wrote lyrics when Syd left, but over time Roger completely took it over. Creation of music fell to Dave and Rick, who excelled at it.

And, they remained Pink Floyd; Roger never granted permission for anything, including rehiring Rick Wright. After all the legal issues were sorted out Rick was made a full band member again, and Roger took custody of the pig. Neither Roger or David granted anything to the other, hence 20 yrs of litigation.

  • YEAH I WAS JUST KIDDIN JUST A JOKE

  • ive seen david w/ rick wright and then saw roger w/ nick mason, and i must say that although seeing both were amazing, gilmour is UNBELIEVABLE and a much better musician live. plus he has the voice hes had for 30 years and still sounds great. rogers voice didnt hold up as well. i wish they wouldve reconciled, esp in leu of sids death, but now with richard deceased i doubt theyll never play together again. floyd is the best regardless.

  • why are all Roger lovers Gilmour haters? I don't get it...

there would be no Wish You Were Here if it weren't for Dave

hell, there would be no Pink Floyd

and as great as the lyrics are, it was always the music that first grasped my attention

certainly Roger may be more lively at the shows. I saw him May '08 in Houston and he was really into it, he was absolutely brilliant

but I still like Dave just as much

it's a shame that roger's ego/politics made him impossible to work with

  • there shouldnt be competition between them at all I saw Dave Gilmour then I saw Waters and both shows were umbelievable I couldnt choose which one was better

  • It doesn't make sense at all... I think exactly the same... So sad rick passed away...

I love Floyd, each one of 'em. Roger, Syd, David, Richard, and Nick... All of 'em did what they had to do. Bring the good music for new generations to come...

  • This version is the one of the greatest. Gilmour's Floyd is boring.

  • When I saw Roger Waters in 2000 I was struck by how much more true his renditions of Floyd material was compared to Gilmour's Pink Floyd 1987 Ltd. I had watched and listed to Delicate Sound Of Thunder and Pulse and they were OK. Waters' versions seemed much more alive, much more soulful.

  • I saw this show 2 nights in a row in Nj. What a show!!! They started with Pros and Cons all the way through and then, encore time. Set the Controls.., Money, wish you were here, comfortably numb, and others.Clapton dressed in Black and stood at the left side of the stage and didnt say 1 word the whole show. he wasnt even introduced. It was amazing how close he sounded to Gilmore on the Floyd songs. Thats a great compliment to david... All in all an awesome 2 nights.......

  • 0o Michael Kamen

    rest in peace.

  • Interesting...this appears to be a rare example of Clapton using a guitar synth! There were a couple shots at the beginning where I could see was using a red Strat style guitar, and I know he took a red Roland G-505 guitar on the Behind The Sun tour to use with his GR-700 on a couple songs, but it was hard to be sure at first.

But then when Eric went into the solo, you could definitely hear the guitar synth. I don't think I've ever heard another live recording of Eric using a guitar synth!

  • I thought Clapton as just using a wah wah pedal for the intro riff.

  • Yeah. That´s definitely a synch. Never heard him on it before either.

Thanx tpatgod2007 for posting this rare stuff.

  • i never would have thought it was a synth guitar thats cool

  • im not one of those ppl tht say waters is better than the floyd, or tht gilmour sux or waters sux or whtever. but this is amazing, the BEST version ive heard of wish you were here

  • gilmour and waters wrote the song together, gilmour came up with the riff, and waters had lyrics that they eventually worked the song off of

  • take some more acid. Gilmour wrote the Music

  • Actually, I believe Roger wrote it... Gilmour just sings it...

  • roger wrote the lyrics gilmour wrote the music

  • bleek is right,Gilmour wrote wish you were here

  • Sorry bud, but Roger Waters wrote down the lyrics before the music ever came about... There are quotes from both where they are found saying that it was weird that the song came after the lyrics... Gilmour is credited with the rift that dominates the song and most of the music

  • *Throws bass down*

(With great Sarcasm) 'Ladies and Gentlemen, the GREAT Eric Clapton!'

  • Well Pink floyd was good all together, Roger is still very good as single and i beleive that the Pink also were excellent when they were 3 only, but the four together are something else, love the music of Pink Floyd

  • I seen the original PF back when they were doing the Animal's tour. This is good, but can't compare to back then.

  • I saw this tour in Ny and Philly in 84 with Clapton and in 85 with Andy Fairweather Lowe in Cleveland. The NY show was without a doubt the single best concert I have ever seen. Reg or is it Rog.

  • clapton's manager was upset he took this gig , clearly above his status, his friendship with waters led to this, i saw the show in boston it was hot, but eric saw the writing on the wall (no pun intended)

  • I saw this tour- Rodger and Eric did a fantastic job- My fav part of show was when they did WELCOME TO THE MACHINE- THE LINE

" AND HE PLAYED A MEAN GUITAR" Spot light went on Eric and he torn in- I remember seeing folding chairs flying and beer in the air- It wa a great night in Chicago

  • @Lemmy30294 I saw it in Toronto took my fourteen year old daughter and made her a fanatic, We just saw the Wall on wednesday past, she is forty now, it was a dream come true, never thought it would happen.

  • @seorasmac lucky its not coming anywere close to me,it is a dream to see the wall must have been mind blowing.i did get to see floyd april 27 1978,still have dreams about it to this day

  • First time I've seen this vid and all I can say is WOW!! This is friggin awesome!

  • first concert I ever saw was this tour

  • man I wish I had been there...

  • I wish i were there

  • It was a good time, a different kind of feel from a Pink Floyd concert (I saw this at Radio City Music Hall in '85 but Clapton had left by then)...even with the screen and some lights it was - dare I say - a more 'intimate' feeling concert?

  • The day I learned that Roger Waters was friendly with Clapton and that they had the most soulfull versions of Wish you where here. That day I knew that the nowadays pink floyd are complete fucktards. Stealing a epic song like that.

But what Roger Waters have to remember is that pink floyd are slaves to his creation. None of their concerts are without it. His song is the highlight, and they tour on that fact. He should be laughing really, and the pinkies should be crying.

  • @XRCyrus I Wish They were here

    in my backyard

  • oh, how i wish you were there

  • Nice vid.. it's only funny to see Claptons guitar sounding like a wistle!!!

  • Nice vid.. it's only funny to see Claptons guitar sounding like a wistle!!!

  • Nice vid.. it's only funny to see Claptons guitar sounding like a wistle!!!

  • This is amazing!

  • ohhhhhh HOw i wishh...!! T_T!

  • ok all you Waters haters can seriously go fuck yourself in the ass with a harpoon.

  • they know not what they speaketh

  • I agree. Roger is not a lead singer.

  • Eric Clapton also played with Roger Waters and played Comfortably Numb. Does anyone have a video of that?

  • i would love to hear EC take the final solo on that song...

  • I will see what I can do.

  • OMG please find it!

  • Its posted under my profile.

  • Clapton & Waters ... my heroes of 70's together here and there, just a GREAT SOUND and feelings, thanks!

  • with Michael Kamen....RIP to this genious as well!

  • do you have any more from the first set?

  • yes i have the entire concert...if ya look thru my vids i have the pros and cons set from this concert...will probably put it all up very soon.

  • Brilliant performance.

  • Rare is right! Someone with a handheld videocam shooting from the gallery... but what a treat to view this once-in-a-lifetime collaboration on YouTube. Thanks, tpatgod2007! :-)
