  • looking good, Doc! Need to come to the Boston Banjo Blast next year!

  • @smb08 I would love to come to a banjo festival in the US. Any chance of getting some help to get there in return for performing?

  • great job DOC

  • i wish we had some excellent pickers like you here on youtube that could give us beginners some basic video tutorials! i see hundreds of videos and forums for five string banjos everywhere, even in the banjo hangout that is supposed to be the ultimate site for banjos. it's always the three finger pickers! it would be really awesome if doctor jazz could cure us! ;D

  • @krimskrams Wish I had the time to do that, but I'm afraid I don't. I believe there are some videos that give instruction for tenor banjo. Check out Buddy Wachter's videos on YouTube.

  • love it, and good for you for supporting your troops.

Do you have any experience with the 5 string banjo?

  • @mostlymike No experience with the 5 strong, nor with the plectrum.

  • Love it! I've been playing this tune that I learned on a plectrum from a mummer in Philadelphia for the last forty years or so, and I realize from your rendition I'll need another forty to get it right. Rock on.

  • I've been playing for 40 years now. Hope I have another 40 to keep the music going. Banjo players tend to live long.

  • @DoctorJazz5

Spouses of banjo players don't live longer than other people, it just seems that way to them.

  • Just out of wonder, How receptive is the locals to dixieland music over there?

  • My Dixieland band and I get great responses when playing on the streets, from the locals as well as from tourists. Most of our paid work comes from Israelis who hear us busking downtown.

  • where is that?...

  • This is on Ben Yehuda Street pedestrian mall in Jerusalem, Israel.

  • oooh..

  • Ha You're the most entertaining person I've seen all month.. Pleasure to see you :)

  • Dr. Jazz are soooo good. Saw them at the Yellow Submarine a couple of days ago. Best act in Israel.

  • kick-ass banjo playing

  • Right on and you ain't just whistling Dixie

  • I saw this guy on Ben-Yehuda in 1998.

  • i never knew that bud spencer play Tenor Banjo!

  • haha, you should listen to steve martin playing the banjo!!!

  • How do his fingers do that? its amazing.

  • Thank you for proclaiming that song in Jerusalem.

  • This man is my roll model... I watch this video everyday.

  • You play a mean banjo...awesome

  • Great style and feel!! your framed your voice nicely, and then embelished when needed. Great musician, Thank you!!!

  • a man playing a banjo

  • Rob Reiner!

  • Very good. I'm playing guitar since I was 17 and I started playing tenot banjo about 7 months ago. The left hand is not so difficult when you are already playing guitar, but the right hand is very difficult with those rapid movements. My ideal is to play in the same way as Elazar Brandt.

  • is bud spancer?

  • That was great!

  • WOW! Sounded like the Charleston.

  • The instrumental in the middle was the Charleston. Nice little insert.

  • sounds like a woody song on toystory

  • great ...:D
