As a dominican woman, I will tell you that no one really gives two shits if spanish people are white, black, or whatever other color. My dad is a white dominican and my mother is a black dominican and I have the same skin tone as Zoe. NO ONE has every had a problem with it. And for @MissSamira59 I actually have friends from spain, and they call me spanish so you need to calm yourself.

God, why are we having this argument? Zoe said herself that she is Afro Latina aka BLACK; her ethnicity is Dominican and Puerto Rican. Her not having the kinkiest of hair, the darkest of brown skin, and the broadest features does not negate her ancestry/race. My family has English last names, speak English, and born in this country...does this make me English? Majority of the Africans in slavery went to Brazil, NOT AMERICA! There are other factors involved that defines a Latin country such as: Common history, common traditions, common political and economical institutions. For instance, a common historical reference is that Latin countries were colonized by Iberian royal powers (Spain and Portugal) that were bitter adversaries of the french royal house.

The french established Haiti as a private business to generate wealth to the french crown. This is reflected today when you see an empoverished Haiti, former french colony, with no strong institutions. @javie2 Have you ever heard of Martinique or Guadeloupe? lol Those countries are are still part of france, Name one former spanish colony that is stil part of spain. Youre swpeing out bull and you know it. Haiti is not the only former french colony. The spanish colonized hispaniola killing nearly all the amerindians and importing slaves for labor, there wasnt a dr or haiti at this time, everyone was speaking spanish, later the french came under possession of one part of the island.

@javie2 hatian creole you know the language, is a mxiture of French, various african words, indigenous words and some spanish. The culture among these to people living on the SAME island. is extremely similar and their histories are forever intertwined, this is basic Caribbean history. A latin american country speaks a latin language. Trinidad, St croix, and Jamaica to name a few were all colonized by spain with spanish institutions, they however are not latin american countries.

DR takes part of every Latin American organization whose mission is to unite all Latin American nations through trade agreements and political alliances. Latin American countries like Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and the rest are planning to form a common union just like the European Union.

Rtead please, Jamaica was founded and colonized by th Spanish if you would read carefully I clearly stated that it was not a latin country because they didnt speak a latin language. Now please prove to me which argument of mine was incorrect.
A) A latin language is French, spanish, italian, portuguese, Romanian etc
B) A latin American country is a former colony of either of these groups
C) Haiti, Martinique are latin

@Fuzzbabby Your second premise is wrong, therefore, your conclusion is wrong because language alone is Not enough for a country to be a Latin American country. Latin America is a political union whos aim is to form a common region and this is done through economical treaties and political alliiances. Latin American organizations don't invite Haiti or Martinique to make them part of their political and economical plans. That's a fact. Just follow the news.

@javie2 lol im delusional really, im not the one who's made up some imagine=ary latin concoction..lol language is part of culture. hmm so if DR spoke English and not spanish it would still be latin american, obviously not. Language defines "Latin american", politics is just politics. Guatemalan culture and Dominican culture are not the same, and the only main tie they have to each other is the spanish language, just like Hatian culture and Mauritian culture arent the same except for language.

Guatemala and DR share the same Spanish linguistic, and colonial, influence, all other aspects of their culture are different. England speaks english so does the U.S they however have strong cultural distinctions.

Punta cana and Santiago are in Latin America, DR (DR and Guatemala are also in LA), all those places are within Latin America, therefore, there are more homogenous.
