Alright, I know I'm retarded for asking but, I have never played Castlevania SOTN until recently (my cousin gave it to me) and everything that happened in this videa I have done but I can't quite grasp how or what to do to reverse the clock. If anyone could sort of tell me I'm seriously stupid and point me in the direction of what I missed and must do I'd be greatful, thanks.
@SSFaraaz press down, up+jump and youll do that once you receive the boots to do so. I thing the relic is called gravity boots or something like that.

In case you ask, my level is 68. 1425 HP, 76 LCK 110 INT 91 CON and 130 ATK. ALL relics, not all spells,(missing sword brothers) and MAXIMIZED equipment. the absolute BEST combination offerable. Remember Galamoth, The Super Boss? Oh yeah, he went down faster then dracula!
@SSJMegla mine grew to level 100 (theoretically) only 8 days ago. surprisingly, i don't have the sword bros. spell. oh, and go to the Colosseum the non-reverted castle, and beat the paranthropus (giant gold skeleton by the save point with the big blue bone.) to get the ring of varda, GOLDEN RING TO RULE OVER ALL. i was making an LP and got a 2nd one on accident, XD
@SSFaraaz You have the Sword brothers, but you dont see it in the spells list for some reason. Its also a pain in the ass to get right.
Its: Down, Down-Forward, Forward , Up-Forward, Up (hold for 2 seconds), Down + Attack
You can press the attack button slightly after the down button but should generally be at the same time. Also for it to work the sword familiar needs to be out in familiar form and not equipped as a weapon.
for some reason, i cant pull it off. i have tried it several times myself, but maybe my timing is wrong. i know i used all the requirements, but its just hard for me
@SSFaraaz Yea its an annoying more to pull off. I can never use it it battle. The only time i can actually use it is when making the glitch with the librarian for infinite cash XD
well, i saw a video about it on youtube. and guess what? turns out, that once you use it, IT BECOMES A SPELL ON THE SPELLS LIST! and im not making that up. that''s right, EYE managed to pull off teh spell. congratulations anyone?

*obtained holy glasses* "You be careful, okay?" now, richter faces alucard, alucard saves richter, the inverted castle showed up, then 10 hours of filler came and went.
@captainunload and use the nunchuck to use the 2nd item alucard has equipped. and for simple use, chhose the style for your controller, wither its gamecube, sideways, or with classic controller
Minus a few seconds too. The counter is ticking when the game pauses between some screens.
There's another plot hole here as well, if she had those glasses and thought something was wrong with Richter, why wouldn't she have used them to check? Not to mention that she got through the spike hallway (and others) while clearly remaining solid.
Runs through a hallway of spikes, finds out Richter has became a bad guy, and goes under the clock tower without the rings. All in 2 minutes and 50 seconds.... THAT'S SO CRAZY!
@ThePepsilegend You break the spikes by getting the spike breaker armor. It is down in the catacombs of the castle, there is a room filled w/ goo esque monsters, and a room to the right that is pitch black and filled w/ spikes, when you get the bat's echo you can use it in that room to navigate around, when you get to a black rectangle w/ white light coming from it, step on it, light comes on, go to the room to the right, and there is spike armor. Now you can walk over spikes and break them.
@ThePepsilegend I assume you've been to the second castle? If you need any help on something in SotN just let me know; tips, tricks, n' glitches (I know 99% of everything there is to know). One thing I don't know is how the hell I got 255 of almost every item including life apples (I do know that it is a save glitch having something to do with the performance memory cards and the Royal/Anti Chapel).

@ThePepsilegend life apple glitch...are you referring to the 255 item "save glitch". If so do you know how to do it; it'd be a great contribution to the SotN community. I pray to the heavens that you're referring to the save glitch and not the faerie's gift (librarian).

Bigger plot hole: Maria is waiting at the end of a spike-filled corridor, which you can only get through using armor and, you know, turning into incorporeal mist.
And there is no other way to get into this room.
So. She plainly travels through said impassable corridor to get in and out of this room. Twice.
Maria: plucky fantasy heroine, or physics defying ninja who makes you look like a chump. You decide.
@simplyxwilliam just keep going down, and eventually you'll reach an area called the catacombs. you get the spike breaker after beating the boss there

@CoD3107 that's what I was talking about. It looks like you can change the direction of the gavity boot jump if you do it as a double-jump. Not sure though, because I've never tried it myself but that's what it looks like.
Im actually more concerned with how she got IN and OUT of a room blocked off by a long corridor of spikes, metal grate, and door that requires an unlock key.

@jouluturkki He actually does. Early on in New Super Mario Bros. for DS, you fight Bowser and he burns alive, skeletonizing in a scene that probably would've traumatized me had I seen it in my youth. Then, much later in the game, Bowser Jr. tries to revive him, but makes a mistake and brings him back as "Dry Bowser," and then later revives him properly. In the case of the first Mario game, you actually weren't fighting Bowser in the first seven castles but random enemies disguised as him. Magic.
@MigeulP It was just an example. My point was that videogame characters don't have to follow the laws of physics, so it's not worth pointing out when they do somethign that doesn't "make sense".

If you say that when enemies were disguised as Bowser is "magic", you might as well say that Maria moving fast in this video is "magic". It's a different matter to talk about actual plot holes, inconsistencies in the storyline or such, rather than "how is this and that possible"

In a game where fungi alters your size and a holy spirit possessing a wooden doll makes it life-size (Geno), it's not unreasonable to handwave Bowser having his minions impersonate him with magic. In a game designed around forcing you to acquire abilities to circumvent obstacles, however, "Magic" or "video game lol" is a cop-out.

Exactly. Meaning this is not a plot and more-so people not remembering that not long before this SUPER MARIO BROS 1-3 WERE THE STANDARD. And the standard for voice-overs in games was Resident Evil. ( "Wait! Don't! Open! That! Door!" and "You were almost a Jill Sandwhich!!" and "Master of Unlocking!" )
SoTN is a perfect game. As technology grows perfection can be perfected as well. But there's nothing 'wrong' with this game other than "Bloodlines" and a few SMALLER errors.
In the Psp version I always fight Maria. All though there is a different voice that is playing Maria. The person sounds a lot younger than in this version. I have no idea why they decided to change some of the dialogue for re-release versions.
what i want to know is how did she get through that thing that only mist could pass through up in the tower. i though only vampires could turn into mist...
Far more disturbing is just how quickly Maria 180's about Richter. There's also the implication that she in this small amount of time, she also went and investigated something about Richter, and had time to think about it, realize what was going on, and get to where Alucard found her. And she might have had to search for those holy glasses too!
@OreoTheWolf Wolf running would have been much faster on a lot of where you did moonwalk through... not trying to bash... this video is old, but the game is even older and a lot of people who played this on ps1 back in the day would know that. I feel like in the time it took you to moon walk through the whole thing that it would make sense that Maria (if taking the exact same path) could get there faster but wolf running, nothing's faster. This is assuming Maria has fast moving ablities too.
@apatron52 If you watch a speed run of the game, it's almost entirely back dashing. Wolf dashing is fast, but the time it takes to transform into the wolf then transform back to human in order to enter doors makes it's benefits negligible. If I used exclusively wolf dashes, it probably would have taken me 20 more seconds than this video did.
@OreoTheWolf i actually found out by watcher other videos back in the day that you can do a sorta double jump dash kick into a transformation type move. it actually makes transforming a bit faster but I admit I never would have tried it had I not watched other videos and I would have just transormed regularly so i see your point.
@OreoTheWolf Um if you'd just use wolf charge then hold the direction your facing it'd be a much faster wolf dash. You could have sped it up in the spike room, and the colosseum (with the wolf dash). Another thing is for the CD rm you could do one of three things; dive kick and turn into bat, wing smash, or wolf charge. The last thing I could think of is shield dash cancel; just press shield, dash, shield, dash, etc, etc (it's much faster than regular dashing). Not trying to be a dick btw.
@jbetenbender The problem with all of those moves is they have a large amount of recovery frames to them. This is overall still the fastest way to get around, since you are instantly canceling a fast dash with another fast dash.
@OreoTheWolf Wtf are you smoking. Just try it for yourself; it may not sound like it, but trust me it's faster. This showcases the shield dash cancel (turbo version but you can still reach pretty much the same pace by hand).
@OreoTheWolf You could have just taken my word for it. >_> Anywho you can also do a virtually infinite wing smash (until you run out of mana); Just consecutively do wing smashes before the previous one runs out. There's so many things you can do in SotN; I have a text file that's like 4 pages long.
@apatron52 meant to say, fast moving abilities like Richters ability to run faster than, not a magic ability or anything like that. but if a "Mist only" wall and "silver/gold ring locked clocktower floor" couldn't stop her then... maybe she did use magic... in which case why the HELL is Alucard doing all the work?! @apatron52 Keep in mind... Maria also had time to go, find Richter, and THEN get all the way back and under the clock as well. Unless Richter was waiting there for her and somehow left without seeing Alucard... well... that seems pretty speedy to me.

Maria must have glitched through the ceilings and floors to get to that place real quick, or used Gameshark or something to enter areas that require items to be traveled.
Plotwise I don't think she has anything that could let her travel that fast from the Chapel to the Marble Gallery considering everything she has available.
Speedwise, setting aside required items I think Maria can beat Alucard to the site.
She could have some other, obviously undisclosed, cheap method of traveling the castle.
You can go faster if you shield dash cancel. Equip a shield and then mid back dash, use it, and then dash again... spamming both buttons works as well.
Maria: If you wear these, you can see beyond evil illusions.

What the video shows is that, actually, Maria moves through the 3rd dimension.
There are simple stairs, after all, joining the first and last rooms. Without any enemy. It's Alucard that is crazy and wants to go along the most difficult 2d lines.
the center room always reminded me of that old kids gameshow ledgends of the hidden temple, "sit upon the the throne and you may head up to the HEART ROOM, press the button and you may go to the observitory or in the SHRINE OF THE SLIVER MONKEY"

@SSFaraaz There is an exploit in the game. But though i say exploit its only because its cheap. The developers put it in intentionally.
Alucard shield + shield rod = Dracula dies in less than 10 seconds ^^
But as for my level when i first beat Dracula 49. Oh and i didnt know about the shield rod thing that time so i call that one legit XD
On the current play through im level 48 but i did leave the game overnight to level up my sword familiar to over 75 XD

@CoD3107 that's what I was talking about. It looks like you can change the direction of the gavity boot jump if you do it as a double-jump. Not sure though, because I've never tried it myself but that's what it looks like.

@jouluturkki He actually does. Early on in New Super Mario Bros. for DS, you fight Bowser and he burns alive, skeletonizing in a scene that probably would've traumatized me had I seen it in my youth. Then, much later in the game, Bowser Jr. tries to revive him, but makes a mistake and brings him back as "Dry Bowser," and then later revives him properly. In the case of the first Mario game, you actually weren't fighting Bowser in the first seven castles but random enemies disguised as him. Magic.

@MigeulP It was just an example. My point was that videogame characters don't have to follow the laws of physics, so it's not worth pointing out when they do somethign that doesn't "make sense".

@MigeulP You also did nothing to disprove my point, in fact, you just confirmed it. I was saying that what's the point of talking about why game characters do what they do and how. If you say that when enemies were disguised as Bowser is "magic", you might as well say that Maria moving fast in this video is "magic". It's a different matter to talk about actual plot holes, inconsistencies in the storyline or such, rather than "how is this and that possible"

@jouluturkki Something seems to have crawled up your ass and died. And for the record, I didn't confirm your point. In a game where fungi alters your size and a holy spirit possessing a wooden doll makes it life-size (Geno), it's not unreasonable to handwave Bowser having his minions impersonate him with magic. In a game designed around forcing you to acquire abilities to circumvent obstacles, however, "Magic" or "video game lol" is a cop-out.

Exactly. Meaning this is not a plot and more-so people not remembering that not long before this SUPER MARIO BROS 1-3 WERE THE STANDARD. And the standard for voice-overs in games was Resident Evil. ( "Wait! Don't! Open! That! Door!" and "You were almost a Jill Sandwhich!!" and "Master of Unlocking!" )
SoTN is a perfect game. As technology grows perfection can be perfected as well. But there's nothing 'wrong' with this game other than "Bloodlines" and a few SMALLER errors.

In the Psp version I always fight Maria. All though there is a different voice that is playing Maria. The person sounds a lot younger than in this version. I have no idea why they decided to change some of the dialogue for re-release versions.

Far more disturbing is just how quickly Maria 180's about Richter. There's also the implication that she in this small amount of time, she also went and investigated something about Richter, and had time to think about it, realize what was going on, and get to where Alucard found her. And she might have had to search for those holy glasses too!

@OreoTheWolf Wolf running would have been much faster on a lot of where you did moonwalk through... not trying to bash... this video is old, but the game is even older and a lot of people who played this on ps1 back in the day would know that. I feel like in the time it took you to moon walk through the whole thing that it would make sense that Maria (if taking the exact same path) could get there faster but wolf running, nothing's faster. This is assuming Maria has fast moving ablities too.

@apatron52 If you watch a speed run of the game, it's almost entirely back dashing. Wolf dashing is fast, but the time it takes to transform into the wolf then transform back to human in order to enter doors makes it's benefits negligible. If I used exclusively wolf dashes, it probably would have taken me 20 more seconds than this video did.

@OreoTheWolf i actually found out by watcher other videos back in the day that you can do a sorta double jump dash kick into a transformation type move. it actually makes transforming a bit faster but I admit I never would have tried it had I not watched other videos and I would have just transormed regularly so i see your point.

@OreoTheWolf Um if you'd just use wolf charge then hold the direction your facing it'd be a much faster wolf dash. You could have sped it up in the spike room, and the colosseum (with the wolf dash). Another thing is for the CD rm you could do one of three things; dive kick and turn into bat, wing smash, or wolf charge. The last thing I could think of is shield dash cancel; just press shield, dash, shield, dash, etc, etc (it's much faster than regular dashing). Not trying to be a dick btw.

@jbetenbender The problem with all of those moves is they have a large amount of recovery frames to them. This is overall still the fastest way to get around, since you are instantly canceling a fast dash with another fast dash.

@OreoTheWolf Wtf are you smoking. Just try it for yourself; it may not sound like it, but trust me it's faster. This showcases the shield dash cancel (turbo version but you can still reach pretty much the same pace by hand).

@apatron52 Keep in mind... Maria also had time to go, find Richter, and THEN get all the way back and under the clock as well. Unless Richter was waiting there for her and somehow left without seeing Alucard... well... that seems pretty speedy to me.

Maria must have glitched through the ceilings and floors to get to that place real quick, or used Gameshark or something to enter areas that require items to be traveled.
Plotwise I don't think she has anything that could let her travel that fast from the Chapel to the Marble Gallery considering everything she has available.
Speedwise, setting aside required items I think Maria can beat Alucard to the site.
She could have some other, obviously undisclosed, cheap method of traveling the castle.

You can go faster if you shield dash cancel. Equip a shield and then mid back dash, use it, and then dash again... spamming both buttons works as well.

What the video shows is that, actually, Maria moves through the 3rd dimension.
There are simple stairs, after all, joining the first and last rooms. Without any enemy. It's Alucard that is crazy and wants to go along the most difficult 2d lines.
