  • Nice video. I am sending you mine of the Lake Country Limited with a B32-8W in the Phase 4 paint.

  • i think either 2052, 2051, or an Amtrak California F59PHI should be sent down to san diego when the amfleets are in service.

  • Are they still in service?

  • @wilzchau: As far as I know, CDTX 2051 and 2052 are still in service, although 2052 seems to have problems with the HEP (Hotel Electric Power, Head End Power) to supply electricity to the rest of the train.

  • Nice! *****

  • In that video, were the lights on the cabcars old or new?

  • @rockstarmonster90 2 and they're Dash 8's.

  • they need more P32-8BWH's cuz they sound great, have the best horns, and i rarely ever hear that they breakdown unlike the p42s which seem to always breakdown

  • @rockstarmonster90: The ones in the video are Dash 8 based. Amtrak California has 2 units, 2051 and 2052.

  • I saw #2051 while I was in Sacramento last year.

  • AMCAL ALL THA WAY!!

  • hey super videos keep em coming, i dont think thats a car alarm if you look at about 49 to 58 seconds it appears to be twooakland police motor officers

  • Why would amtrak need such a powerful unit? lol

  • Such a powerful unit? The P42DC has more power than this. It just sound like a hard ass worker ( the P32-8)

  • Those GE's sure do sound good.

  • 0:03 - What's that windup sound right before the break release? o_O

Love the video though! Sounds like a shave and a haircut on the way out :P

  • The windup sound is heard on most modern GE locomotives. I think it's the sound of the air compressor starting up.

  • Air Compressor for what? I've only heard it on the videos of the Pepsi Can's.

  • Air compressor for the air brakes - it has to feed air to the entire train. You can hear that windup sound in 5 of my videos: 0:14 "Amtrak Capitol Corridor Departing San Jose", 0:25 "Roseville Action - GE Smoking Contest", 0:11 "BNSF GE Dash 9's are Switchers at Commerce", 0:15 "Norfolk Southern Lashup - Commerce & Fullerton", and 0:04 "Union Pacific Coal Trains into Moffat Tunnel". Few of them are faint unless you listen closely.

  • Ah, I see now. Thanks.

  • very nice video I just came back from staying in Oakland in Jack London Square at the jack London inn the purpose was just to watch trains going by down the Embarkadao street a very enjoyable three days after my arrival at the Oakland Amtrak yard with the private railcar I came in on

  • I think its a generator, an air compressor dosent really sound like that, the generator could be used to work the air compressor thought as well as other verious things. Kuz i remember seeing a CP AC4400CW sitting on a siding and every once and a while id hear it come on.

  • No, it's definetly an air compressor, watch engine room tours of and GE unit and that's what it is.

  • No, It's the electric motor for the air compressor starting up, not a generator, it does not run off a generator like HEP.

  • My sound card died on me! DAMMIT!

  • Man I'm giving you 15 stars. Keep them coming.

  • This engine sounds like an ALCO C-630!!!

  • My favorite Amtrak engine! Love it!

  • Yeah these are much better looking than their P40's and P42's.

  • Sounds like they run these locomotives at full throttle like the F40PH's.

  • Great Video!! I love it when GE start up!!
