Speaking from an engineering perspective, it is theoretically possible. What throws most of you off is the aerodynamic (or in this case hydrodynamic) shape of the jet. Keep in mind that the same principle applies to this as it does to the Trident missile. The only difference is that a greater (and evenly distributed) force must be applied to the jet. 'Cutting' through water is very similar to cutting through air, they are both fluids, you just need more force.

the concempt wouldbe the same as with a nuclear missel they surrond the plane with gas like if you open a bottle underneath the water and the gas follows the missle upwards to the water so it cant get wet. then the tube goes out of the water and launches so the same concept wouold be applyed to the plane.

I agree it's horribly fake, and likely a tomahawk or harpoon missle. Even if the digital artifacts aren't enough, a compression engine cannot start that quickly. It needs to spool, heat up, and yaddi yah...no way it can do that out of the blue (or the ocean or that matter.)
