no you have to get a new version or an official version of the CD

@marudell, if you need to go back to Vista, you would need to wipe out the entire system and install vista again. If you have a Vista Restore DVD that would probably re-install Vista from scratch again.

Why would anyone want to revert back to Vista?

The best way to keep your original OS is to partition your HDD and install Win7 onto a totally separate partition to your normal Xp/Vista.

Then you can boot both and simply format the Win7 partition if you dont want to keep it. That way you 'll still have your original OS.

And yes, as long as you have the original Xp/Vista discs and your Product Key, you'll be able to reinstall them as many times as you wish to the same system.

No, your PC, will shut down every two hours, starting on March 1, 2010. If you have recently installed the Windows 7 Release Candidate. Microsoft, highly recommends after March 1, 2010, you buy the Windows 7 software at an electronic stores, or another store like Walmart, Target, or just buying a new PC.

Just download the Vista drivers online or off your cd's. For right now Windows 7 uses the same drivers as Vista. Or at least that's how it is for nvidia drivers.

I've tried it out, and seen a friend use it for a few months, as well as looked up reviews online.

As far as I can tell, its much better than vista (it is everything vista should've been). Windows 7 is much less resource-dependant than vista, meaning that is is faster and more efficient than vista. It doesn't require as much hardware to run fast.

It has a nicer layout, and it doesn't change much of the other code, so if something is compatible with vista, then it should be compatible with 7.

RTM means Release to Manufacturing, which means the version of the software that will be given to maufacturers in order to box them and ship to retailers. RC means Release Candidate, which means that it's a possible final release if no further builds are created.

I don't think you can go back to Vista that way. You'll most likely have to buy a new retail version of Windows Vista and re-install it that way.

I just downloaded and installed it last week and I'm very happy to say that I'm VERY MUCH PLEASED with Windows 7 RC! I didn't have to install any necessary drivers, I got my network setup in no time! Truly it is better than Vista!!! Hopefully I will be purchasing this when it comes out in October 2009!
