oh my god!!!!!! your amv just opened my eyes.when i heard "i know St. Peter won't call my name" and saw the ladder, a light clicked. it's like he was trying to climb to heaven, but died before reaching the top. like not being allowed to enter haven and dieing on the door-step. KYYYYYYYYYAAAA! that just made Light's death seem much more artistic than i ever thought it could be!

@torysama There is only a handful of series that have a good dub. Death Note is not one of them. A good dub is when they have voice actors that sound about the same as the original cast, and all they do is translate it. No editing is done, and no shitty catch phrases Americans like to add.

Funny thing is, DBZ is increasingly popular in the U.S. It even made Hollywood. AND the death note inspired someone enough to start an online KIRA church on Facebook with over 700 followers. So there. No editing means repeating mistakes... like they with Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, YuYu Hakusho, Ruroni Kenshin, Sailor Moon, Inuyasha......

The problem with that is that it's hard to find good American voice actors who sound like their Japanese predecessors. Honestly, I think Death Note did a wonderful job on the dub. There could have been some better voices, of course, but I enjoyed it immensely. The English dub gave it a new twist, added....well, humanity to the characters. Take Brad Swaile as Light. The last episode, where he goes absolutely insane? He gave that scene a pure feral essence the original didn't have.

the mirror sword and sheild was extremely interesting to me. because its so true. Takada is his face to the world, mikami is his sword light sees him as a trump card, and misa is a his sheild because he uses her as a protection she is also part of his camflage to the world, really really awesom idea!
