  • 2:08 looks like Steve Martin being puppy mauled

  • So the camera operator is not your wife or girlfriend?

  • I want to see mama. She sounds so nice.

  • @sundogforlove the camera operator is great. thanks for watching! eric.

  • You guys are a hoot! I was looking for ornamental grasses in Canada but am easily distracted.....now I'm going to view some of your other videos.....LOL

  • @Donlakyounomoah thanks! you can subscribe to our YouTube Channel if you hit the subscribe button on our page or one of our videos. thanks, eri c

  • The and will also help the carrots not to get lost when you water them and helps the soil to drain better rather than holding water, which is not good for your seeds. I always plant my seeds in between two sheets of newspaper in my garden. This helps the seed from getting lost and for some reason the newspaper actually increases germination. Carrot seeds do not have to be covered with soil because they need light to germinate.

  • @ILuvCaroline wow. great info caroline, thanks for that. eric

  • do carrots need sunlight?

  • @ShatiWorks To germinate they do. I plant my seeds in between 2 sheets of newspaper and water the top sheet. Mix some sand or light soil in with your garden, this actually helps the soil drain better which carrots do not like to be in wet soil, only moist. Carrot seeds can get lost easily when you water them and the newspaper helps to increase germination.

  • dude...I just ate the last nilla wafer..... ):

  • Those are some nice looking carrots! Your dogs look nice :)

  • I like your video and especially your dogs...:)

  • @popoandtiger thanks! glad you like the pups. they are great. there are a lot of Labrador photos on our website if you like to check them out. eric.

  • did u see that guy with the dogs?

  • from organic rocks

  • it's fascinating to see how plants turn inanimate elements into various edible stuffs

  • very playful dogs

  • cute dogs :D

  • the camragirl sounds like sarah silverman

  • Monty Don is the best, we brits love him

  • carrot blite

  • maybe someone mentioned this in an earlier comment, but usually that bagged sand is too salty as it is cheaper than your standard gardening sand.

  • lol awesome video!!!

  • great vid dogs are soo cute

  • omg i thought he had a huge cucumber in the weel b in the beginning

  • I can say they have fun together and I think this is wonderful and great vid's too..I like keep them rolling !!

  • i love sarcastic wives, they make a married life interesting

  • these two are so in love with each other. haha

  • I bet she says your going to put it where???

  • OK the chic needs to shut up. She should be making a kids tv show. She sounds like a dope..

  • Not enough focus on the actual carrot growing process.

  • Subscribe to donate a dollar for green!!!!

  • you should focus on your gardening and not so much your dogs if your going to make gardening videos...

  • Its getting closer to spring, and Im getting the Garden Fever! I put out onions, lettuce, spinach, and swiss chard. I hope Im not making a mistake by putting out carrots in a cold frame... :D Great vid as usual!

  • You are a gentleman and a scholar

  • dog looks too damn happy

  • Eric my post will probably be lost but was wondering how this experiment turned out in the end? Good or bad we'd love to know in MN

  • @fredgargoyle it ends up that the addition of sand really helps. also, i found that pelletized carrot seed works really well, because then you don't have to thin the seedlings, which disturbs the roots of the remaining carrots, which hinders their growth. thx, eric.

  • have i got to get 2 dogs to plant carrots.?

  • how long till you get edible carrots from planting the seeds?

  • For compacted soils, short or round carrots are much better.

  • Not sure if this has been posted yet, but carrots don't like rich soil. Sandy "lean" soil is the best.

  • "Hand model, hands" LOL you're great!

  • That was a really nice video!

  • doggies!

  • Comment removed

  • What an awesome entertaining and educational video. Thanks for posting. What are the dogs name? And who's the critic in the peanut gallary recording the video?

  • Good work. I like the gardener. ; )

  • you have totally inspired me. Of course, I don't know how it turned out. But I just love those fresh carrots.

  • u guys are a cool cuple

  • your dogs are cute

  • carrot do not like fresh manure or cheap compost, cheap compost is usually not fully composted ,it dries very quick, it hardens like a rock and also it creates mold just under ground level, this kills roots before they get chance to establish, i learn my lesson over 10 years ago, never buy shitty compost, if not composted correctly ,return it supplier, because it is illegal to sell under composted compost google it

  • I like the dogs

  • liked your vid but the book no . as long as the manure is aged say 8 12 months its ok put a 250 pounds per 1000 sq feet told by msu ag center wont hurt it you have to every yr any way.

  • the white stuff vermiculite. its made from petroleum its a slow kill product .

  • Organic sand? LOL!! Also, We raise carrots to feed our rabbits. And we use our rabbits to fertilize the garden...Ironic huh? LOL!!! What state do you live in?

  • Why would this video provider think that a person (like myself) who wanted a guide to planting carrots would be interested in dogs? What is the connection? I love planting and I hate dogs. Is there something in American lore that bespeaks the common admiration of that animal and that plant that I'm unaware of?

  • I feel sorry for the dogs obviously he loves his carrots more. Poor dogs had to wait for the stick then had to wait for the Frisbee. Pure Doggy abuse!!!

However a man should not have to choose between his carrots and his dogs.

  • be careful your dogs don't poke there eyes out with that stick you are throwing in the pond for them,my dog nearly died after getting the stick thrust in his throat by the other dog he was with

  • Great job on the video. You look like a happy family in a beautiful setting. So nice to see. I would've added sand to the carrot soil too. Curious that it didn't work better.

  • Just love the dogs. Wish my Black Lab liked water. He is a wimp and keeps away from puddles. Too funny. Great video. Thank you.

  • excellent video! informative and entertaining! Thanks!

  • So which soil was better with or without the sand???

  • Cool video funny dogs

  • This video was more about the dogs than it is about the carrots, although the dogs were quite entertaining.

  • glad you liked it anway. thanks eric.

  • @erochow Dogs provide "comic relief"

  • your soil didnt look too clay like to me but loved your vid thanks for making gardening a bit of fun, p.s. monty don is a god here in england, hope he recovers to full health soon hes missed on british tv

  • thx for the note, we wish monty well over here. eric.

  • If you freeze Carrot seeds before planting will that make them better or just kill them?

  • i've never heard of freezing carrot seed. don't think its the best thing for seeds. you could ask on our viewer forum, see what others think. thx, eri c.

  • @SuperSean32 they will last longer.

  • lol You guys are too cute.

  • Thanks. You made it a lot of fun and I enjoyed watching the dogs. I'm going to try it.

  • where can i get that book?

  • at the end of this vieo the dogs were fighting over the stick it was so funny r they white golden retrivers?

  • yellow labs...these are just really light colored

  • @5hourenergy9 they look like golden labs

  • organic sand!

  • yeah. i like to poke fun at that kind of thing. thx.

  • hehe, you guys have a great sense of humor, I love your dogs too! thanks for the tips!

  • lol alien carrots

  • i love the dogs in the beginning

  • i don't like the iodea of eating root veg grown in soil with chemical powdered nutrients added.

  • need to grow organic for sure. I guess they were less worried as it was feeding a horse..

  • im guessing carrots hydropnically would be bad idea as they would soak up al the checmical nutrients. I could try it but wouldnt wanna eat them. Imagine them being drenched in chemical nutrients

  • lovely

  • excellent video too much of the dogs but other than that the best so far.

  • The comedy factor in this vid is priceless... Love the dogs

  • absolutely

  • carrots are man made ?

  • twin dogs

  • what a lovely property...

now i know what i did wrong i put the seeds in too deep -_-' oh well, back to the drawing board.

  • thx, carrots barely need to be covered, sand or vermiculite work well. you can sow them for a fall crop as well. check out our viewer forum at our site if you like. some fun people there. link is in the video. eric.

  • yes english is hard . am from south australia and yes you are doing good thats how we grow them.

  • cutest dogs in the world. i did my first garden with my brother and it was pretty fun. we learned and did pretty good, our peppers could have been bigger though.

our carrots were pretty pathetic, we're trying again.

  • carrots are hard, i never seem to get really good ones. but that's ok, its still fun. check out our site for more fun stuff. thx, eric.

  • hey i like this

so when you thin them out you uprooted all the smaller carrots and throw them away or you plant them on another row?

PS. i love your dogs they are so cute at the beginning when they swam withthe stick

oh i want to see how your carrots come out when you harvest them hehehe

thank you for making this videos

  • when i thin the carrots, the ones i pull out i toss. i don't think they could be transplanted. thx, eri.c

  • Good video. Going out to try to grow some carrots now, leave out the manure this time!
